Flight using Lego
anton1678 replied to anton1678's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Well, at least it is now known that LEGO can fly, even if it does only barely, and without the battery box in the air. Unlucky with the RC motor, hopefully LEGO will release a "helicopter kit" (probably a battery box and 2 contra-rotating rotors, basically on one self-contained plastic box) Yes, It would be dangerous, but not if contained in a cage, like fan blades.- 157 replies

[MINI] Offroad Racer
anton1678 replied to anton1678's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The gears are for the piston, and don't do anything for the driving. I will try to make it smaller though, it isn't so mini yet, but the piece count is still small. I have also had trouble joining the elements in different ways, it's hard to think up of your model and how to build it. I don't cheat, I won't steal anything from another website. But I did read official instructions for inspiration, that blue buggy thing helped a lot -
[MINI] Mini Digger
anton1678 replied to allanp's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Maybe a door could replace that yellow bendable axle? Apart from that, I would say it's just like the real thing, and I would buy that set if it ever came out. It has all the 'right stuff' in it. -
New Technic Part?
anton1678 replied to Zimix's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Really? It seems to move so easily in the technic beam holes -
I tend to do Technic for about 2 months or more, then switch to building medieval town scenes for the next month or more, and then back again. I am interesting in powered models though, so I like technic more

Try making it so it folds fully flat, and clicks into place when needed. also adjustable tilt, for the iPad to be held at different angles

The camera probably has focus software, try a manual focus camera, not a digital one. You can see how it zooms in and out, and changes brightness, obvious signs of this being a digital camera, possibly a smartphone, that tries to "optimise" your photo quality. It's the camera, definitely the camera

Yes, TLG wanted to make small Technic sets as well, because not everyone has 50$ to spend on something big enough for those figures to sit in. Besides, with Technic, as W3ird N3rd said, you are the one controlling the set, not the minifigure. Technic has less imagination involved, because it works in real life, no need for imagining much

[MINI] Lawn Tractor
anton1678 replied to Eraman's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That's ok. After all, it is about function, not looks. I hope someone gives me some ideas for my models' looks, because I am probably the world's worst LEGO aesthetics designer Please also see my MINI topic, the Offroad Racer. -

anton1678 replied to Eraman's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Eraman, if you can't build this in any colours, I have all these parts, send me the LDD and I can build it in black and white and red if you want I will give you the pictures and then you can use them in your entry. You will have to send it by email though, I don't know if Eurobricks allows posting LDDs -
Flight using Lego
anton1678 replied to anton1678's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Well, blakbird implied that flying would be with the batteries, zblj is experimenting with the batteries on the ground. a lego brick on a hamster makes the hamster a part of the model, I only mean we could use a spark plug or fuel because lego doesn't provide those parts, like lego doesn't provide live hamsters as part of it's models. Anything is impossible if you don't try.- 157 replies

[MINI] Offroad Racer
anton1678 replied to anton1678's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'm keeping it really simple in relation to some of my other models. yes, it's bigger than others, but without aesthetics it's about 150 pieces. and here come the pictures... -
[MINI] Offroad Racer
anton1678 replied to anton1678's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I have found that simply using friction pins instead of frictionless pins ends the problem. I have added 2 pistons and put the pull back in a better position. I widened the body, now it is far more optimised for the aesthetics posting pictures soon -
Flight using Lego
anton1678 replied to anton1678's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I made a lego crossbow, proper mechanism, with plastic beams being bent to produce the power, and it broke my 11 hole technic beam when it fired i don't really want to try that 'how much power can a lego crossbow make' experiment again, i'm pretty sure that could shoot straight through my leg if i sharpened the bullet those things in total weigh like 2 grams, no way you can fly like that with lego, just a friction pin would be like half that whole thing- 157 replies

[MINI] Offroad Racer
anton1678 replied to anton1678's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
what about a gear change that locks the steering in place yes making it stiff is a good idea maybe a shock absorber or rubber band that springs it back -

anton1678 replied to anton1678's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Strange... the pictures are directly in the thread on my computer... I think it's your plugins or something. I have already planned how to make the steering more easy access And I never said pullback+steering was 'unique' Still, good suggestion, I can get something from it -
[MINI] 8852 Robot
anton1678 replied to barman's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It's a great idea to make a big set small, i've done small to big, but never big to small -
Ok, I don't expect to win the competition with this as it is, but I've only just started. I added a pullback motor because it makes it much more fun to play with if it drives by itself. The steering is good, and connected to an easy access gear. I didn't gear up the pull back for longer drive time because it's a racer, and it needs speed, but offroad so it needs torque Please give me some suggestions, because I need some extra features to put in this.

I am a relatively bad builder, who can't build a gearbox, and likes moving parts

Flight using Lego
anton1678 replied to anton1678's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
People have tried to use LPEs before, but you need at least 4 bars of pressure A ramp jump doesn't count as flight, but a rocket is possible We have already seen that 100% lego can't fly our goal is to make a lego motor fly- 157 replies

Flight using Lego
anton1678 replied to anton1678's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Well, if it contains non-lego wing parts, or a non-lego lipo battery, i guess it isn't completely lego, is it? we are kind of setting guidlines for a challenge, aren't we? we are allowing non-lego wing parts, but not non-lego motors. or balloons.- 157 replies

anton1678 replied to anton1678's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I suppose we could use 2 of them for tethered flight, but a non-lego battery should be allowed in a 'lego' plane, if non-lego wings are- 157 replies
