  1. Okay, so there's this brand valuation and strategy consultancy firm called Brand Finance, who, from the press release you can read here, just declared that LEGO is now the most powerful brand. So powerful, in fact, that they just overtook that auto maker they love to make models of their cars with, Ferrari, who drops to 9th after a surging Apple and Twitter and because the Scuderia F1 team hasn't won the Grand Prix since 2007 (and we all know what Ferrari and F1 have when you combine both of them in the noggin). Quoting the article, which you can also read on Brickset: Honestly, I do not know how that firm does their evaluation--uh, help, someone, anyone?--but I'm gonna look at other firms that do brand rankings, like Interbrand, to see where LEGO fared. Here's what Clone said in the Brickset article: Don't know what to say about that.
  2. And this would put you and TLG in a conundrum: Star Wars or Star Trek? I mean, yes there are fans for both franchises, and TLG might just make shedloads more cash once they got the license for both Original and New Star Trek, but you're right about the stuff I put in bold. Part of SW's appeal as a LEGO toy theme is the breadth of vehicle choices, what with the franchise set in ONE FREAKING GALAXY MY GAWSH!, as opposed to just 25% of one galaxy for ST. Plus, ST's Earth-bound, not like SW.Though that made me think: If TLG does bag all of Star Trek's franchise and canon, I think diorama sets would be in better order, though I'm not so certain as to what's the smallest vehicle ST has in the hangar that can be used for, say, Starter Packs or something in about the same size as 75078 ITT. Back on the topic... any unique board game in the similar vein as Jason's Marble Maze that's on Ideas (not necessarily a marble maze, but like a desk toy for the smallest Idea that can be found)? Are they any good?
  3. Clarkson and Hammond are sad about this news now, Faefrost. Very sad indeed.
  4. ^Oh, I cannot unsee it now.
  5. I just forgot: I wanna do a small write-up about this set with the pictures from and quoting Ukonio over at Oppositelock, which is on Jalopnik.
  6. Oh, thank you so much, kind human working for Ukonio! I could use some translating, but what surprise after going home from an out-of-town trip with practically no Internet access and ways to make noise first. But I don't think it'd be a good idea to have this truck lugging 'round Lego City, what with the crime rate, unless there's a Lego City Street Grand Prix every month. Makes me think though: Are there any other set besides this that you managed to spot and buy and can be reviewed? Oh, and blokes, caption this:
  7. I see a cool front-engined supercar with a forklift attachment. At least the aesthetics remind me of such. Digging this.
  8. C-model of the off-roader is damn ugly.
  9. The Fire Plane has exactly 999 pieces. It's a first, if you ask me.
  10. All that jazz and the Exo-Suit will be retired forever. ____.
  11. Meanwhile, the news. At least of me.
  12. Wait, now, man. Have a look at this one: Autoscribes like this one here on Jalopnik's Black Flag sub-blog, says this is the KTM X-Bow GTR, which will race in the GT4 race car category. Looks like it'd need the new windscreens if made in brick, but the back seems to be A-OK. Don't worry, because, as per usual, I'll get this one up on the Speed Champs theme as pertinent car news.
  13. It's going to be Team Jamie or Jamie himself, that's for sure.Wait a minute. There's a function that we haven't touched on. The F40 has pop-up headlamps, right? That should show up in the model. Or it's busted.
  14. Hey, I had that thought too. My thread on the UCS F40 is over here, though it needs a few more blokes to keep the topic from getting too icy. Now back to this set.
  15. Valet parking? Office building? Harbor 2.0? A 6-axle crane in the similar vein found in 60026 Town Square with a slightly bigger and better boom assembly? A bigger Divers sub that TLG successfully hid all those toy fairs? And heck, how would that train look like, BTW? Is it something many LEGO Train fans have been waiting for, or is it a bit more modern?
  16. Clue: that soft-top X-Bow.
  17. So one bloke in Chima has a 3-cyl engine for a hand? Looks like enough for me.
  18. I think you used hinges for the shaping at the back, I just realized. Brilliant.
  19. No way now. This is so damn slick. Any way to get a hardtop on that?
  20. Don't worry. After Le Mans 2015 is over, TLG might just drop some of the Le Mans sets... at least from the Volkswagen-Audi Group. That much is certain.Makes me now think if all-new PF stuff like REAL WORKING RC KERS will show up if ever the prototypes get UCS versions.
  21. 14 years is proper stuff. Just what the doctor and CrossFit trainer recommended. If it's just 3 weeks, I say Biggest Loser did it.
  22. Looks like something that'd fit in the 2007 season. Looks like what an LMP1 is if someone decided to go coupe and fight the open-top Audis. Slick stuff.
  23. Here's a may-be-useful tidbit: I'm thinking the reason why some blokes don't dig the Speed Champs line is evident with the fenders. If you're gonna mod it, either the front has to be one stud lower than the wheel arches or the wheel arches have no other element attached to its top studded area.
  24. Oh, dear, this is cool and cool and cool and cool. Though, yes, I have to admit, mounting that rear wing the way it's mounted IRL is damn hard. I have a 4W Tiny Turbo version, and it's got a Calsonic Blue version to go with it, too.
