  1. No way... when I wrote that last post I was thinking of comparing the I-Rex to Carcharodontosaurus too. The hands are a bit out of proportion, sure (no allosaurid or tyrannosaurid a similar size to T-Rex has arms/hands like that?), but it looks close enough once you can get past the fact the I-Rex is white. I think it's the distinct teeth on the I-Rex model that made me draw the comparison in my mind, since Carcharodontosaurus also has distinct teeth (the name translated literally means "shark toothed lizard")
  2. I'm still unsure myself as to whether the Indominus Rex counts as a true dinosaur or not. I'm leaning towards "no" given it's genetically engineered. But it does look enough like a dinosaur for me to be interested in it. It's easy enough to pretend that it looks like some as-yet-undiscovered tyrannosaur species And as for the Dilophosaurus, yes that does count as a dinosaur (and it does have 3 new moulds in it). Though I do question it in terms of true-to-life accuracy, as I'm pretty sure Dilophosaurus in real life did not spit venom and have frills like a lizard on it's head. Movie accuracy: spot on. Real life accuracy: not so much. Anyway... I got myself the Pteranodon Capture set yesterday at a small discount. I haven't got roun to building it yet, but I did pull the Pteranodon from it and it looks fantastic, especially sitting next to my other two Pteranodons. Net on my "to buy" list is the Indominus Rex set
  3. I've checked and now I definitely meet all the requirements for the Hau tag - so could I have a Hau tag please? Also, since I'm making a post here, I'd like to make a suggestion on a new tag which relates to MOC's revolving around Action Figures. I'm not sure if it's been discussed before or if something already exists, so apologies if it does (it wasn't obvious!). The System forums have the "MOC Expert" tag, the Pirate Forums have the "Ship Expert" tag, and the Technic Forums have the "Pro" tag - and I think that it would be a good idea for the Action Figures forum to have it's own "MOC Expert" type tag, awarded to people who consistently make excellent Action Figure MOC's (I can probably name a few in this forum that I think are deserving), called "Constraction Expert" or something similar. Just a suggestion.
  4. Well, these look very nice indeed. I did not expect the new armour add-on to come in both Titanium Metallic and Flat Silver (well, it looks like it in the renders anyhow), so that's a bonus. I'm glad that Skull Slicer's seemingly "boring" skull spider mask is explained in the story. I like the idea that the Skull Spiders can reanimate dead beings, but ultimately that makes me think the mask should have had Skull Spider legs attached to it to show that fact more clearly... but easy fix, especially since I have some spares. I'm still not a big fan of those bone-bone pieces being used as upper legs though, but that's another easy fix. And Scorpio's claws... now they just don't look right to me. But I'm thinking about giving it something similar (but not exactly the same as) to the claws in the HF Summer Beast combiner, or maybe replacing the neon orange claws with something more neutral (and maybe adding some neon orange elsewhere).
  5. That's a really nice Onua mod, I like it. Though I will say that I also think he could do with chunkier legs (particularly on the upper legs). He might even benefit from something fairly similar to Black Phantom's leg build (but maybe with 6M or 7M bones as opposed to 9M bones), but you would need to alter the torso slightly to implement it.
  6. Well, looks like G2 Bionicle will be another thing I won't be able to be completist in even though I wanted to... unless that trans-blue mask gets a wider release, be it activity book or promo polybag. I thought having the trans-clear Hau, sorry, Mask of Fire to find was bad enough. Why don't they just make an SDCC exclusive set with a ton of exclusive recolours as well and be done with it? But seriously, I think it'd be a terrible injustice if we didn't get a wider release trans (or trans-blend) mask for Gali. All the other Toa got at least one relatively easy to obtain one, why shouldn't Gali?
  7. Got some Simpsons minifigs today - Comic Book Guy, Lisa and Hans Moleman. Only 4 left until I complete the series - I think I need to slow down I've definitely surprised myself with my feeling skills though - I thought I was terrible at feeling the packs, but I've been right 12/12 times with this series so far...
  8. I'm afraid that's old news, I posted about the exact same promotion a week ago : It seemed to go largely unnoticed though, so it can't hurt to post it again. But, I wish I knew if the June promo in the UK was the Winter Soldier, like in the US. I will be quite annoyed if we get zero promos in June
  9. That made me laugh until I practically cried. How on earth is that an official description? And how they misspelt "Bionicle" as "Bionclie". Obviously it's all a Bionc-LIE, lie as in fake of course. Everything about it is just ridiculous! Serious now, I'd never even think of buying these bootlegs, even if they had exclusive recolours that I badly needed. Especially when they are just blatant ripoffs like we have here. I would never support companies like this. I agree with DraikNova, they could at least get their description on track. Lack of Russian language definitely wasn't a toy feature when I last looked...
  10. I really like the use of specially moulded heads for minifigures, I think it gives them more character than just a print on a regular minifig head. I'm a big fan of specialist moulds when they're used for things like animals (I don't like overly big, unnecessary <insert that tiresome argument> pieces though, particularly big vehicle pieces. But that's not an unpopular opinion is it?) I like the Green Goblin bigfig. I don't like instructions where they place just one brick at a time. I want to build, not constantly turn pages. I also don't like sets where the manual is in 2 or 3 separate booklets, I prefer a single large one like they did with the Lonely Mountain and recent UCS sets. I think Constraction should be accepted and even thanked by the wider LEGO community. I feel like I've been dealt a crushing blow every time I read a post that "insults" the building system. After all, Bionicle, a Constraction line, pretty much saved LEGO from bankruptcy 10 years ago. I don't think we'd be here without it. I think that's all my unpopular opinions out of my system
  11. Yeah, maybe. They didn't do it with the Winter wave though, so it seems very inconsistent. The fact they did have them wasn't the unexpected surprise I got though A second BnP order will be in the works though, after I get the fire harnesses, to get a few pairs of fire wings which are in stock, as well as some Bricklink orders to get the other figure pieces more cheaply (for example, Saraw basically uses the generic Sabertooth warrior's head, torso and legs, just a different headpiece).
  12. Well, we can't really rule out the possibility of sets from Summer 2016 onwards yet (I kind of guessed we wouldn't see any in Winter 2016 since the movie would be a little irrelevant by that time), especially if they make Jurassic World into a trilogy. Stranger things have happened. And speaking of Triceratops, since they reused all the other 2012 dinosaur moulds, I'm left wondering why they didn't make any more use of the Triceratops moulds. My guesses are that either the Triceratops doesn't appear in the movie, or they do appear, but in scenes that aren't really set-worthy. I won't really know until I see the movie
  13. I finally got round to emailing them last night, and this morning I got an email back with an unexpected surprise - they have said they've apparently found the parts (Laval's, Cragger's and Rogon's fire harnesses, and Saraw's headgear) in their warehouse, and they've already shipped them out to me. Of course, I'll have to wait a week or two and see if they are the exact parts I listed, but either way I'm almost always impressed by LEGO's customer service Whether or not this is an indication that they actually will become available to buy, I don't know. But I'm not complaining.
  14. That's a good option too, though not always cheaper. I didn't mention it since I was talking about parts that aren't available via that service anymore. The ones on the jaw do look more jarring than the ones acting as claws, I forgot to elaborate on that. Oh, and do you mean 6M shells?
  15. Hi and welcome to Eurobricks! Considering this is your first MOC in this system, this is quite a good effort. I like the general appearance of your version of Fangz (which is probably one of my favourite non-humanoid sets). It definitely looks like something you wouldn't want to come across! I really like how you made the hunched appearance. Of course, my advice would be to get some more parts so you can make the model more cohesive, as the paws in particular are a bit mismatched. Bricklink is a great place to get specific parts. I'd suggest swapping the gold paw piece for a silver one (though the silver one is quite rare and expensive, so alternatively swap both for gunmetal grey) and also use the paw pieces for the back perhaps? Also, I'm not a big fan of the orange-yellow spikes, it might look better with red ones instead The front lower legs could do with some cladding too. But I understand that all of that may have arisen just from lack of parts. Since you're new to MOC'ing, feel free to have a look around my Flickr (in my sig) if you want some more MOC'ing ideas
  16. That would just be a dream come true. I was poring over some of the Jurassic World video game pictures actually since I was going to try and custom mould some of the designs myself, and it includes a Brachiosaurus (I think - it's definitely a sauropod of some kind). An updated Stegosaurus would be most welcome (you could probably get away with using some of the Triceratops moulds, like how the Dilophosaurus mostly used existing raptor moulds). Throw in an ankylosaurid, a hadrosaur and that will be the major herbivore groups covered. I'd definitely buy them all, but as I've said before, I have a bad feeling LEGO is under the "carnivores are cool" mantra so we won't get any of these in physical form The problem with a Brachiosaurus is size though. It needs to be bigger than the current largest moulded animal (Smaug from The Hobbit), and I'm not sure how feasible it would be. Not to mention a set with a Brachiosaurus mould would be horribly expensive. Shame, the game design is fantastic. Otherwise, I'd welcome an actual Gallimimus mould, and perhaps a marine reptile while I'm at it.
  17. Honestly, if you want to go for some raptors now and you don't care for the raptor headgear, do what I did and get Raptor Escape. I feel it's a better set for value for money, and there's some nice techniques in the build, and some nice little play features too. Okay, the pen is barely big enough for the two raptors, but it's probably not that hard to extend it a little if you wanted to. Otherwise, I'd wait until Raptor Rampage gets reduced in price somewhere. I'd love to see a second wave of sets, and it's still very possible. It's more likely we'll see new sets if/when a sequel to Jurassic World comes out.
  18. So I just finished building Bladvic's Rumble Bear, and somehow I feel very lukewarm about it. I like how the function of converting it between car and mech is implemented, it has some nice dark orange recolours, and the design of the face is very well done, and it looks pretty good as a car based vehicle. But, and it's a big but, the mech part is honestly atrocious, in that it has virtually no poseability whatsoever. The legs are just completely static (there are no poseability options with them as they are anchored at the hips to rotate when you activate the function, and the balljoint on the feet is only a structural choice, the feet can't move), and the wrists can only rotate about a Technic pin. The part of the arms that are mounted on a ball joint don't end up being all that useful due to the way the arms are designed, plus the wheels get in the way. The head has the most poseability of all the model. In my opinion, if you want a more poseable bear mech, go for Icebite's Claw Driller. But there are much better mechs currently available in my opinion. In all honesty, only go for the set if you're interested in the minifigures (like I was) or maybe the parts, or if you were aiming to have a large vehicle for each tribe member. It's the cheapest way to get a Bear tribe member, and it's also got Iceklaw who was previously limited to a polybag. Otherwise, I'd leave this one on the shelf.
  19. Picked up a Kashyyyk Troopers battle pack (because it was £3 at Tesco) and finally took the plunge on a Wookiee Gunship to take advantage of May 4th offers. I almost picked up a TIE Advanced Prototype for £32 at Sainsbury's (best deal I've seen on it so far), but to be honest my wallet's a bit broken after my last LEGO Store trip. I don't need more at the moment
  20. Stupid question I know, but what is the qualifying purchase to get the poster each month? Is it with any purchase or do you have to buy Star Wars, or order over a certain amount? I have no idea if we're getting the poster promo in the UK, but I assume so given the poster I got was advertising the additional posters.
  21. Let me see... I really liked Legends of Chima and I would have liked to see it continue into 2016. I want to see CCBS become a more major part of more sets in general. I think minidolls can blend in seamlessly with minifigs (not really, I think the opposite but I thought it was a good one to share since nobody I know thinks that they do )
  22. For those of you that are interested in the posters, there was also this URL that was stated on the back of the poster I got. No idea if it goes anywhere yet though. Unfortunately not... you can get the poster dead flat through a variety of methods, but you won't be able to remove the creases where it's pretty likely it'll have left a thin white line wherever it was folded
  23. I purchased Wookiee Gunship, Dilophosaurus Ambush, Raptor Escape, Bladvic's Rumble Bear and 8 Simpsons CMF's today. Should be enough to keep me going for a while.
  24. Seconded. I'm still quite amazed that, aside from one fairly limited use Skull Spider mask, we haven't got a single Dark/Earth/Metru Blue CCBS shell yet. It just seems that it's one of the last major colours missing in the CCBS colour palette, and it's pretty high on my wanted list since my self MOC needs them. It doesn't look quite right with Bright Blue.
  25. For those wondering about the poster, it actually says "Collect a different LEGO Star Wars poster each month, ask in store for details" on the back of the Episode IV poster. So it sounds like there's going to be a new one each month. The poster itself is lovely and I'd love to get them all, I'm just hoping you can get each one free with any purchase, not just a Star Wars purchase since I rarely buy Star Wars sets at full retail. I was quite surprised to find the Winter 2015 sets had been discounted, so I picked up a Wookiee Gunship to get the Yularen figure. It appeared that Microfighters were most people's choice at London Westfield, at least when I went in there, almost everybody with Star Wars sets at the tills had at least one.
