Lego Ultra Agents 2015
TheOneVeyronian replied to TPLSTER21's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
This is not good news, it looks like the sets are cancelled in Europe (and Australia) for good - I'm going to have to ask someone to import the bits I'm interested in from the States now, because ongoing problems with BnP also means none of the pieces exclusive to the new UA sets are available, so that doesn't work. The shark (the bit I want most of all) is only £2.75 on Bricklink, which is very cheap, the problem there is nobody is selling it, and when they do come for sale, they're all gone before I'm even notified by email! Will somebody on here be nice enough to help me out with getting me a shark from the Antimatter set at the very least? Question is: why were these sets pulled from the UK though? Everybody I talked to complimented the line and said it sold reasonably well, so is it really a case of a few countries in Europe where they didn't sell too well perhaps, which then ruins the party for everybody? Well, I guess only LEGO knows, and they usually won't tell us why so the best we can do is guess. -
I literally clicked on this as soon as I noticed it said "Bugatti" But really, this is a neat and nice little space/hover car. I can definitely see some design resemblance to the Bugatti Veyron in the front of the craft (I can tell as I look at pictures of them all day), with the Technic panel slits resembling the headlights and the iconic grille shape (don't tell me you didn't use the Veyron as inspiration for this ), and nice use of the Hero Factory pieces as well. The build is pretty much flawless in my eyes, though I'd say this looks more like a full-on spacecraft than a hover car, but that's just me nitpicking. Great job!

Advanced Models 10248 Ferrari F40: Discussion Topic
TheOneVeyronian replied to XAxles's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'm hoping so too. I love my cars, but at the moment there is two that are right on top of my wishlist for LEGO to make into a Creator Expert set: 1. Bugatti Veyron (if they made this, I'd buy three immediately. In fact, it's 10th anniversary is this year and definitely a future classic, who knew?) 2. McLaren F1 (one of the definitive 90's supercars, it's a no brainer. Oh, and it's as old as me believe it or not) And if they did both, I'd have to clear a load of space on my shelf and build a desert road to recreate the classic Top Gear "Veyron vs F1" race they did in Abu Dhabi I think a McLaren is more likely given LEGO holds a McLaren license (otherwise how would they have made a couple of McLaren sets in the Speed Champions line). But given Bugatti is owned by Volkswagen, a car company LEGO has had a license for in the past, I'd say it's not entirely out of the question. But for now, the direction they are going in with the F40 definitely hits all the right buttons for me, and I hope they do more classic supercars so I can have a whole "garage" of them. And at £70, they are much more affordable for me than the high-end diecast model cars I used to collect (a similar size model car can cost >£150). And you can put these together, making them more fun -
Well, this is really weird, I got an email confirmation for a Bricks and Pieces order this morning, thought it was a bit odd since I already had email confirmations for my last BnP order made a few days ago, so clicked on it thinking my account had been hacked and it turned out it was for an order that was placed on the 20th April... 2014. That's right, it's for an order which I'm pretty sure I received over a year ago! Having a look through my order history, the order does appear there, but it says "Waiting for payment information". Like, now I'm worried. It's only for about £8.50 but I fear LEGO are going to charge me again for it, and that's going to cause all sorts of other problems for me. And since it's Friday evening now where I live, I can't contact Customer Service until Monday to enquire further. Anyone else had this problem? What should I do?

Thanks again! I finally decided that white/bley was the way to go given I had enough white rib pieces in my possession already (but the flex tubes in the spine will be black because I am a cheapskate ), and I've already bought over half the parts to it. Annoyingly LEGO put over 140 of the pieces I needed onto backorder so I'm unlikely to see my BnP order for over a month But my first BL order should arrive in the next few days, so I should have enough to build the foundations of the spine so I can see if it will indeed keep it's shape and remain assembled when fully built.

I have a couple of unique oddities myself. First one is this Gresh mask: The eyeholes have excess plastic around them. I even went as far as asking other serious Bionicle collectors on BZPower and nobody had seen a misprint quite like it. General consensus is that some of the plastic probably seeped out while in the mould, resulting in the excess plastic. I also have this minifig hand: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/TheOneVeyronian/Parts/dscn6198.jpg (linking because it's a bit too wide) It came from a sealed TC-4 polybag like that (it's definitely not a chew mark), but not quite sure how it turned out like that. Maybe the corner got compressed while it was partially molten? The photo doesn't really show the flaw off all too well, but there is a groove on both sides of the mismoulded area. Anyone have any ideas on this one?

Advanced Models 10248 Ferrari F40: Discussion Topic
TheOneVeyronian replied to XAxles's topic in LEGO Licensed
Personally, I find it a bit weird that the model seems to have been done in 2 different scales, as a couple of people have already mentioned. The length is far too short compared to height and width, thus making the whole model look distorted and squashed. I do wonder why that was decided upon, I would have been happy if the car was £10 more if it meant the proportion issues were ironed out. Maybe it had something to do with part and technique limitations, maybe the look couldn't have been so well achieved if the car was longer? But asidde from the iffy and rather questionable proportions, I love the attention to the little details and it does ultimately look like what it's supposed to (and it has a windscreen!), and the more I think about it, the more I want to get it during early VIP release. -
Recently, both Brickshelf and Flickr have been causing me much grief... I'm assisting the Action Figures staff with working on their MOC index, and every single time I try and do something related to that, it's either Brickshelf is down or Flickr is down, which slows everything down. It's starting to get on my nerves, it's always Brickshelf down so I can't download pictures, or Flickr down so I can't upload resized versions of those pictures But anybody know what's going on with Flickr especially? Up until about a week ago, I've never had any problems with it. Now it goes down at least once a day, without warning, often for over half an hour at a time, and always when I want to do something on it. It was down when I began typing this, and it's still down as I finish this post... anyone else been having problems?

Thanks again for your comments! Here's a 100% buildable white version (to make it possible, I had to make a load of it grey, not sure whether to just make it all grey and do that). Not sure how I feel about it to be honest, the bley really breaks it up, not to mention this one will be a LOT harder and more expensive to Bricklink (the hoses are available in white but all of the lengths are about as rare as wild snow leopards so went with bley for those instead)... it's so hard to choose one to make! On one hand I have the more expensive but more natural feeling white skeleton which would probably look really good mounted on a display plate, the other a more fantasy/dark magic oriented black one which would look good with an army of skeletons... I'll probably start making my first BL and BnP orders later today (BnP is working with a week's delay so I should really make it today if I have any hope of getting the parts before August ), so again, any thoughts on whether the black or white/bley one is better to go ahead (now you can physically see both options) with is much appreciated

TheOneVeyronian replied to XAxles's topic in LEGO Licensed
The set looks quite decent to me. Not a "run out on day one" purchase for me, but it will be a purchase nonetheless. Maybe on my birthday in August perhaps . It seems to be in the same sort of scale as the Racers Lamborghinis and Ferraris that I have, so it should display well with them (maybe I should pick up the old FXX too - I mean I already have the Enzo, 430 Spider and both Lamborghinis). Sadly, thiis is going to be £75 (going by Mini Cooper pricing), so that's already 33% more expensive than any of the similar scale Racers models. Though I will be honest, I agree with whoever is annoyed with the varying scales of the Creator Expert cars. There is no way I can put the F40 on the same shelf as my Mini Cooper, so the Mini will probably have to be moved to another shelf. LEGO should really pick one scale and stick with it so the cars are in scale with each other and can be displayed together without looking strange. -
This map is going by physical sightings, right? Haven't they only been found physically in LEGO Stores so far? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Northern Ireland have had any physical sightings of the summer wave sets yet as they don't have any LEGO Stores, despite it being part of the UK which does have them out (I'm only counting sightings in physical stores, not places like Amazon UK). Sorry, me being a little nitpicky there

So in preparation for BL'ing the model, I decided to do some research into existing part colour combos (PCC's). I ultimately decided to go with black, and recoloured my LDD model so it only has existing PCC's (well, except the tail end, but in my defence, it does come as a black/red marbled mix ). This is ultimately the look that the real life MOC will have: More feedback and comments are appreciated. Do you think black is good for this model, or would I be better off with making it a mix of white and light gray instead? Opinions please, and if you ask me nicely, I may make a buildable white/bley version too If anyone wants to scrutinise the new LXF, please ask me and I'll post it here.
-
Thanks! Having a look at it again, I actually just managed to convince myself that it wouldn't be too hard or expensive (just slow!) to get all the pieces to build this in black (the tail end poses a small problem though - it only comes marbled). So now I have something LEGO related to get on with during the summer now I'm almost caught up with everything I want until September, plus it'll look good displayed with my other LEGO dragons For those of you wanting to see real bricks, or just curious to see how this build would work, keep a watch on this thread. You won't be disappointed

Thanks for all your nice comments! Alright... since it came up in quite a few comments on many of the sites I posted this on, who would like me to try and Bricklink this MOC and build it for real (will probably make a black version for a bit of variety, after all LEGO did mould their skeletal horses and skeleton minifigs in black so it can't be that odd ), and see if the MOC will hold? It'll probably take me months as I don't have a lot of money at the moment (plus this thing uses an insane amount of 1x1 round plates with holes so using BnP may be necessary), but at the moment I'm just interested in gauging, well, interest

Ah, that's what happened to the file! Definitely strange. Well, all I changed was the plane and background colours (well, I increased the resolution from default to 2000x1500, that probably slowed it down a little), but I did notice the rendering program slow down. My last Bluerender renders on my Flickr took about 15 minutes each. Maybe it's got something to do with the fact I also had Photoshop Elements open (I'd forgot that program consumes 70% of my CPU's power even when I just have it open ready to import finished renders to add my watermark to it ) Fixed the privacy settings on that for you so now you can play "spot the difference": https://www.flickr.com/photos/theoneveyronian/19083029571/in/dateposted/. See if you can guess which is which before you go read the photo description But again, kudos to a great and easy to use rendering program that makes renders that can give POV-Ray a real run for it's money

The spine is a flex cable, specifically this length which has some Technic 1/2 pins attached to this Technic connector block. Probably not the most stable setup in real life but it works a treat in LDD If anybody's interested in examining exactly how this skeleton goes together (trust me, it is all connected! No floating parts or illegal builds), here's the LDD file for your viewing pleasure. If you decide to have a go building it in real life (some colour substitutions will be required, making it black and grey would probably work), please give me credit for the design

UPDATE: Real life version has been built, and instructions to build the dragon are now available! Original post: Well, I don't usually come into this subforum, with my speciality being in the Action Figures forum and all that (and I hardly ever work with System bricks), but today I come here to share a recent MOC I made with you in LDD. It's a (mostly) anatomically correct skeleton of a dragon made up of 628 pieces, which, being obsessed with dragons, was something I wanted to do for a while, but only recently had the time to do. The MOC took about 5-6 hours to build. Hopefully this is of the high standard of the MOC's I usually see in this forum! Anyway, enough of me talking, time to let my renderings do the talking: Comments and constructive feedback very much appreciated. Enjoy!

First off, may I give you a thumbs up for another great program. It's fast, easy to use, and the ultimate advantage over LDD2POV-Ray: you can use LDD while Bluerender is running. If you figure out how to put LEGO text on studs whilst keeping the speed of render, I know you don't intend it to be but this may become a real LDD2POV-Ray competitor, especially for those who aren't so computer savvy This will definitely be used by me for now on to provide alternate pictures of LDD MOC's alongside the main POV-Ray render. Now I haven't got time to read through 9 pages of posts, so I don't know if any of what I'm about to say has already been pointed out, so apologies in advance if it has! Could I point out an error in your original post? Where you link, it comes up with a "page not found" so you might want to fix that or edit it out Could I ask where I could find like a table of input RGB values for certain colours? I've always been familiar with using RGB values up to 255 (which is used in a lot of programs I use including Photoshop and POV-Ray), so using RGB values up to 1 instead is a little bit confusing for me Does using a custom .sc file slow rendering down considerably? I did a 620 piece render (including several flex tubes) using default settings and it took under 2 minutes. I did a render of exactly the same model using custom background and plane colours (both light gray) and that took over 3 times longer. Still considerably faster than POV-Ray though which takes about 10 minutes to just parse a 620 piece model on my computer! If there's anything I'd like to see added (aside from LEGO text on studs option), would be the ability to choose your own .sc file to use. At the moment, to toggle between default and custom .sc files, I have to keep moving the .sc file to a different folder within File Explorer, then reselect the .lxf for Bluerender to pick up that the .sc file is there/not there, and that's quite a faff if I'm honest. And finally: may as well play "spot the difference" between a POV-Ray render and a Bluerender render (yes, I did zoom in on one before starting, and both have had an auto smart fix applied via Photoshop): p.s. "Remember when it used to explode" never fails to put a smile on my face

[MOC] Muse's "The Handler"
TheOneVeyronian replied to TheOneVeyronian's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thanks for the feedback, it's appreciated Round shapes are probably not my forté if I'm honest... it was the last part I made too so I probably just put it on to finish the building and play with some rendering settings, because by that point I'd spent several hours trying to get the big hand and the chains in the right positions and ensuring they were matched with the fingers as in the artwork, and I think I wanted to call it done by that point . The main focus is the hand and the man really -
[MOC] Muse's "The Handler"
TheOneVeyronian replied to TheOneVeyronian's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Does nobody like this MOC at all? I'm not sure why I bother posting stuff like this anymore because it's very discouraging when it gets 0 replies, makes me think I'm a really rubbish MOC'er when I do put 110% into every model I build Is it the subject matter or is this forum rather inactive? Anyway, here's some alternate views to highlight some other details like the build of the human and the underside of the hand: If someone proficient in LDD can get those chains attached to the fingertips (as my intention was), please let me know, those drove me crazy -
Hello all! I don't normally post in this forum, and I normally don't do System MOC's very often (and the ones I do are normally in LDD, which this one is), but decided that, with the release of Muse's most recent album "Drones" and having flicked through all the amazing artistic representations of the songs on the album, I decided I wanted to MOC as many of those artworks as possible. This is the second one so far (you can view and comment on my first one, Psycho, here), named "The Handler". This one was a bit of an abstract and probably wouldn't completely work in real bricks, so I did it in LDD and did a couple of renderings of it. Firstly, the artistic rendering and comparison to the original artwork: And a plain render so you can see the true colours: I guess all I really found out from this is that 16M chains are really hard to position correctly in LDD, so please don't shoot me down because the chains aren't completely straight and impossible to connect at both ends the way I wanted! (p.s. if anyone knows how to get them straight, here's the file). Positive and constructive comments are really appreciated. If you've also got the new Muse album and would like to see more LEGO renderings of the artworks, you can say which song you'd like me to do next too. Enjoy!

This is simple, but very nice indeed (that and I'm a total sucker for guitars and stuff related to rock and roll ). I really like how he has Stringer's sonic speakers acting as his knees, very fitting, and I like the guitar in general. It's dual purpose as an axe is genius. My only real complaint is that I think you should have used a plain Beast head rather than Queen Beast's head. It makes it look as though his hairstyle has eyes and it looks a little weird in my opinion. Though the Beast head works perfect for that "Elvis hair" look, I will say that.

I'm probably reading this wrong, but I thought Birmingham hadn't had a LEGO Store since the one in the Bullring shut a few years ago? As for online, I think you might be out of luck so far. I can't even find any at ridiculously inflated prices on eBay. The sets aren't even in the BL catalog yet. I'm surprised (but happy) scalpers haven't capitalised on their limited early release to be honest. p.s. if anyone wants them really badly for UK RRP, PM me. I MIGHT be able to pick some more up when I next visit a LEGO Store, probably in 2-3 weeks time.

I already saw this floating around BZPower, but it never fails to make me smile. Some very nice NPU's here and a compact yet non-gappy build, proving that even small, quirky MOC's like this can be as good as, if not better than, ones 4 times their size. Add to that that laser sharks are generally simply awesome My only real complaint would be the position of the dorsal fin, but given it's pre-moulded onto the part and there isn't really a way to attach a second one, it's a really minor nitpick. I'd be really curious to see what the internals look like and how such a small thing goes together, if that's possible. p.s. welcome to Eurobricks Paleo!

Thanks very much! I do in fact have a LEGO rendition of the artwork for "The Handler" too (made in LDD), but just haven't got round to posting it yet (it'll be posted in Special Themes when I do upload it given that one is 0% Constraction). I might try the other artworks including the album cover for Drones (the album that these artworks relate too, but you knew that), but no guarantees on that!
