  1. And about the Villain Pack actually, I've noticed an explosion in their availability. There's 4 people in the UK on eBay that have them. And I know I can also buy them from sellers in Hungary and Russia on BL, and they're not absurdly expensive either (the one in Hungary is being sold for HUF1850, about $6.50 or £4.30) Question is: where exactly is everybody getting them from and how have so many got into circulation already? Was it part of an offer somewhere, because it seems quite common and easy to buy for an "extremely rare" polybag. The HF Villain Pack from last year was a lot harder to come by, even from Russia which I know was the only country to even get that polybag (it was a freebie in the Russian equivalent of a LEGO Store I believe). Think I only ever saw one of those pop up for sale, yet I'm seeing hundreds of this Bionicle polybag and I don't even know how it's been distributed yet
  2. It's 5002942 Bionicle Villain Pack
  3. Here you go. And a closeup too. (p.s. this will get it's own topic, but my mods are nowhere near done yet! I still want to add armour, cover up gaps, add features and make him a cape )
  4. I think they probably went with gunmetal for Vader since that was probably the cheapest option and the best compromise. Considering that silver would have required an all-new recolour and bringing a certain other recolour from the dead, and the black round shell was last seen 3 years ago and was retired in early 2013 (hence would cost more to remake), and all 3 different gunmetal pieces on Vader were still in production when the design was finalised, so that's my theory over why LEGO went with gunmetal over silver or black. Though don't get me wrong, I would have loved to see the round shell in silver or return in black, and I would have loved to see the square shell return in silver (we only ever got ONE of those, in 2013 Bulk).
  5. On another topic, interestingly I saw that my local LEGO Store (Watford, UK) has started to sell polybags, which is something I've never really seen them do before. And they had a whole bunch of the Bionicle Hero Pack priced at £3.99 each. I don't know if they were just selling off excess stock or whatever, but the presence of polybags they had never offered before as well put an end to that theory. Sadly I couldn't see the Villain Pack, but is it possible that the Villain Pack could eventually be sold in LEGO Stores?
  6. No, I noticed that when I first saw the set, but Grievous should actually have at least 4 foot talons on each foot. 2 on the front, 2 on the back. But it's easy to correct if you have 2 spare Skull Spider legs, there are bars on the back of the foot on the model that you can attach them to. Here's a picture of Grievous which shows the foot talons quite clearly. I was actually messing about with my Grievous this morning and I found that Grievous' balance and posability issues were mostly down to the fact that the feet can't pivot up and down. They just swing and the foot always stays at much the same angle relative to the middle part of the leg. Replacing one of the bones in the lower leg with a friction ram assembly (like what G1 titans used to have on the back of their legs to improve stability) solves this and makes Grievous much more fun to pose. I'll try and post a picture later if anybody's interested
  7. That's weird, I asked in the Watford store today (which didn't have the calendars out either) and the branch manager informed me that it was due to a misprint on the boxes and they were waiting for some sort of corrective sticker to be sent out to them before they put the calendars out. So which is the correct reason I wonder? I think there's some truth to what I was told actually - I think I recall somebody pointing out an error on the European version that stated there was an exclusive Darth Vader figure on the side, when it should say C-3PO. Oh well, either way it saved me spending more money at the store today and has encouraged me to wait until it goes to 20% off on Amazon or something
  8. Only one part would need to be recoloured silver actually - the round shell detail add-on. The shin add-on and chestplate have already come in silver, though the former only appeared in one set 2 and a half years ago so is probably considered retired. I myself don't mind the gunmetal - it's the dark bluish gray that is my biggest bugbear in what is otherwise a perfect model.
  9. This is probably one of my favourite of the new Star Wars sets, but indeed it is not without it's shortcomings. Having built this set myself, the set is woefully hard to pose because it just keeps falling over. I will probably also grab a second Grievous on sale, it's a fantastic CCBS parts pack even if most of it is likely to contribute towards filling Grievous out a little more and attempting to correct his balance problem to allow a wider range of poses. But on the plus side, the arms really don't look that bad connected together once you get past the two hands on each arm thing. And to really finish off my planned modifications to the set, I'm probably also going to make him a custom cape. Just hoping I can get hold of a fabric similar in texture and thickness to Vader's cape, in the correct colour(s). EDIT: Now I wish I could unsee the picture I just saw in the post below
  10. If you think that Luke's going to be a tough sell at $20 in the US, where it's the same price as Jango and Cody, imagine how much tougher a sell he's going to be in the UK, where Luke defies convention and is 25% more expensive than Cody and Jango, and the same price as Obi-Wan (£19.99). For no readily apparent reason either. That said, I think price is the only thing going against Luke. Despite the outrageous RRP price hike, I still bought him, and he's a good figure. Good size, good proportions and not a bad selection of parts either (especially if you use a lot of black like I do). I am hoping the silver handcuff links reappear in another set that offers them in a greater quantity, since I know I'll be wanting 20+ of that colour link, and there's no way I'm buying 10 Lukes. In fact, I'd be reluctant to buy a second one for parts, especially when Darth Vader offers most of them and more for just £5 more in the UK. Great review though, and nice to see that I'm not the only one who thinks Luke isn't necessarily a bad set
  11. Right, back from a surprisingly quiet Watford LEGO Store with all the Star Wars Battle Figures! Unfortunately, John Lewis' price on Luke wasn't a mistake. Luke really IS £19.99 here Confirmed at a LEGO Store and The Entertainer. But I must ask - why on earth is Luke £20 when Cody and Jango, with the same size of box, are only £15!? At least Obi-Wan has a slightly deeper box to try and justify it's £20 price point, but for Luke, well, I'm really struggling to think of why it's more expensive. Especially when, in other countries, I'm sure Luke is the same price as Cody and Jango. I don't know what on earth the guys at LEGO that make the price point decisions were thinking when they decided to price Luke up here. All I can think is it's to stop Obi-Wan being so lonely at that price, but really that's a bad excuse No wonder the shelf at Watford was full of Lukes though while the other 5 were selling pretty well! EDIT: at least the Battle Figures are on the UK S@H now. And seriously, I am not lying about Luke's price
  12. All new parts first released in sets from May onwards. It's very frustrating, and CS only tells you that they're "in the process of being added". Seriously, it doesn't take over 3 months to do that. Anyway, anybody waiting to see pictures of Wooo's head? Wait no more, I have it!
  13. See my post above yours . I've seen some of them on the UK S@H (Obi, Jango and Cody), but they're frustratingly unorderable and their page links return a "Product not Available" page. EDIT: And here's the proof to prove I'm not just seeing things either EDIT 2: After a quick Google search, they are available at some other online retailers in the UK, such as John Lewis. According to John Lewis, Darth Vader is £24.99 (complete with incorrect spelling of "Vader") and Grievous is £29.99. Though for some reason they list Luke as being £19.99. My lower estimates all proved to be correct though, some good news for my wallet
  14. Yeah, for some reason they're not appearing when you browse through the Star Wars or new categories, BUT I just noticed Cody in the Recommended for You list. But when I went to click on it, it said "product not available". Same with Jango, which also appeared in the recommended list. I can't get any of the others to appear at all. What joke is this LEGO? Only UK S@H could turn Force Friday into more of a Farce Friday... On the upside, Cody and Jango (and presumably Luke too) is only £14.99 in the UK. EDIT: Oh, just got Obi-Wan Kenobi to appear in the Recommended section. £5 cape premium (he's £19.99)
  15. So... it's gone past midnight on Friday 4th, and absolutely no sign of the Battle Figures on S@H where I live. Weren't they supposed to be released at 12:01am, or was that only stores that were opening at midnight? Seriously, how much of an ask is it to know the UK prices before I go to bed? I guess there might be a risk of my wallet fainting in-store tomorrow morning, or worse - they're not there
  16. I think I agree with the rest of you - Grievous is highly impressive, both from a set AND an MOC'er's perspective. Even one of my friends who is normally not one for getting CCBS sets got Grievous and is thoroughly impressed with it, even going as far as saying it was one of the best sets of the year for him. If that doesn't speak volumes for recommending Grievous, I don't know what will. And it's only made me more excited for the sets. Friday can't come quickly enough!
  17. That's odd, other places are saying S@H is just late getting them up - but I think you're right, even though the calendar has little to do with the TFA sets and really should have been released at the same time as other advent calendars, like it has been for the last 3-4 years. But I suppose it makes sense for LEGO's direct retail channels to just put out all new SW stuff on the same day. Now to decide whether I should pick one up on Friday when I go buy some TFA and Battle Figures sets, or wait until they're under £20 on Amazon like I've done the last two years...
  18. Well, I'm heading to a LEGO Store on Friday, and if they are selling the battle pack I'll most likely pick it up and provide some images of those heads
  19. May I ask something related to the SW advent calendar? Isn't it supposed to be released today on S@H? I for the life of me cannot find it anywhere on the UK S@H, even though the other two advent calendars are on there and available. It's always been released on S@H on September 1st and always alongside the other calendars. So where is it? The only reason why I can think it's not on S@H is that it's being deliberately held back to be released with the TFA and Battle Figures sets on Friday... can anyone shed some light on this? I don't know, it just seems odd that S@H isn't selling it yet Also, a random question: do you guys think all the LEGO Stores (particularly UK stores, because that's where I am) are going to be extremely busy on Force Friday, and is there a risk that the sets may sell out at physical stores the day they're released? I don't want to turn up at the Watford store, queue for half an hour to get in only to find the sets I came for sold out before I got in. That's my idea of a nightmare
  20. Well, the battle pack is officially out! It's called "Army Building Set", which is funny because all the characters in it are named and thus it's not really good as an army building set £10.99 though - I don't remember similar packs costing this much. Oh well...
  21. Hmmm... I'm not convinced that these are more Winter sets, because why would we have 2 Umaraks in one wave, particularly if they are both the same character? One would cannibalize the other's sales and wouldn't make a lot of sense from a marketing prospect, even if the Umaraks are distinctly different. So based on that alone, I'd hazard a guess that these are Summer sets. Unless, of course, these are alternate names? I'd say that 71315 is also a Beast, but what it's element or name is, I don't have a clue, neither can I think of anything that could logically fit.
  22. Sorry if this is a bit of a stupid question, but are these out on the 1st or the 4th September? Kinda hoping it might be the 1st so I can avoid inevitable Force Friday crowds, but I'm 90% certain it's the 4th, but if someone could confirm the date for me that'd be great. I was under the impression that these upcoming SW Constraction sets were not under as strict an embargo as the TFA sets, but from what Veebs is saying about the stores selling them early causing a nightmare for TLG, it sounds like they are (which I'll admit is a bit odd to me given they have virtually no ties to the new film, plus we have high-res images officially released by TLG for these). This is probably also why I still can't find any information on UK prices for these sets, right? Nonetheless, I look forward to reading the reviews, even if I made up my mind about getting them back in February
  23. That was my original thought, but it's probably not as clear-cut as that, because it's only my browser that pretty much ceases to function while Bluerender is running. I've been able to run LDD, Microsoft Office and even Photoshop (which is extremely CPU consuming, I have it set to use 85% of my PC's power, I think it uses all 4 cores on my PC too) while Bluerender is rendering with no really noticeable problems. But nonetheless, I'll give the priority settings a try and see if it solves the problem.
  24. I have a bit of an odd problem when using Bluerender - whenever I have it set to render (which works absolutely fine btw), I've noticed that my Internet browser (Google Chrome) refuses to load any websites. Other programs work just fine when I have Bluerender running in the background though. I wonder why this is, because POV-Ray doesn't affect the running of my Internet browser - and is this problem just me or have other people noticed it as well? It's a problem because I like to browse the Internet while waiting for large renders to finish Using Windows 8.1, latest version of Google Chrome, basically latest version of everything really.
  25. Not anymore The second Skull Scorpio was given to me as a gift, I got the second MMvSG for 20% off, the extra Skull Bashers and Slicers were part of a parts draft that I did with a friend (because he wanted the bone bones out of them and I got to keep the rest) and he paid me nearly a third of the set's total cost for them. The only double I intentionally got at full price was Warrior, and he got turned into Corphos (my most popular MOC)
