  1. Well, this is unexpected. I just hope this polybag isn't released in Russia only, partly because I don't feel very comfortable having stuff sent from that region Here's hoping this is a general worldwide promotion... But while the golden Kulta mask is absolutely wonderful and I want it more than my next breath, I would have much preferred a blended Tahu or Gali mask. Come on LEGO, why haven't we got these? I've had to spend money I should be saving for Star Wars Constraction sets to get materials to experiment with and make custom blended Tahu and Gali masks, because not having all 6 in a blended state was bugging me
  2. I finally finished the real life version of the Skeletal Dragon in all it's more fragile than bone china - it took hours to just get it to stay together glory! And I've also made some instructions for it, just click on the picture below to view and download the PDF. And click here for the list of parts in XML form, which you can just copy and paste into Bricklink's mass wanted list upload section should you want to BL your very own skellie dragon. Just be sure to give me credit if you use all or part of the build in your own MOC's Any questions or thoughts about it, feel free to post here or PM me
  3. Of course, as long as you give me credit for it I will warn you though: I have built the MOC in real life now, and it's more fragile than bone china, and may require the removal of some of the 1x1 studs along the spine. You will also need to bend the flex tubes a LOT to get them to stay in shape as they sag with the model's weight. It's kind of a miracle that it all stays together. But more on that when I get the IRL pictures and the instructions up in a couple of days time. I still need to take the pictures and prepare a useful parts list
  4. Yeah, the blades don't look as good as I'd hoped there, but I had another idea: what about these?. But I actually don't mind the bone bones myself and silver kaiju fins would work better, but I think the black fins help to balance out the big blobs of black that is the Kaiju heads in this instance. Also, I just realised I don't really like how trans-orange looks when put right on top of trans-neon green, and I'm wondering if it could possibly work better with a black bone instead? p.s. one of your picture deeplinks is broken Leewan
  5. Erm, didn't I also request to see your pre-revamp of Skull Scorpio with the bull skull mask right at the beginning of this topic? As I've said before, I like your revamped Skull Scorpio, I actually feel inspired to build something similar should I get a second Skull Scorpio (which is inevitable, I'm picking up a second Kulta vs Ekimu on Saturday and have doubles and even triples of the other skellies ). Does the tail pincer actually open and close by some sort of function or do the Technic links on the tail just serve an aesthetic purpose? Also, have you thought of adding the weapon parts found on Skull Scorpio's tail to this build? I hate to say it, but compared to his strong, bulky physique, his current tail pincer looks, erm, puny and unthreatening But that could be because I've got used to the set's ridiculous tail to the point where I actually kinda like it the way it is
  6. I'm in no way a big boss of this forum, but it's likely we'll have a 2016 discussion thread when we get some credible leaks or information on the 2016 sets, which we haven't really got yet. I don't know exactly when that will be, I'm just as hungry for 2016 info as the rest of us are, if not more given I was among the very first people to get hold of the Skull Villains I'm not saying the rumours we already have are true or false. They might be true, they might be false, I don't know. If you want to discuss those, go here
  7. I think you've nailed the basic articulated hand design right there. I think the thumb connection part is absolutely ingenious. I'm thinking is it possible to model that hand design with an extra part added onto the palm that contains a cross axle so it can hold all manner of weapons? Out of curiosity, if you ever put these up for sale on Shapeways, how much would a pair of hands with the fingers and necessary attachments cost? (well, how much did they cost you to print is basically what I'm asking ). I'd be very tempted to use a few of these on my own signature figures with custom moulded heads... these hands seem perfect for them. Not to mention all the other parts you've come up with... keep up the good work Leewan
  8. I got it as part of a trade with somebody on BZPower recently, so it didn't cost me an arm and a leg really. All the exclusive Gen 2 masks that I still need to get, the Skull Scorpio mask, the trans-clear Hau, maybe even the trans-dark blue Gali mask - that's another story altogether. My limbs are not safe yet
  9. Oh, they do look beautiful together It really makes me sad though that I will probably never have that Gali mask, even if I sold half my Star Wars minifig collection to raise the money needed, because it's so rare. I still need to find somebody who'll sell me their trans-clear Hau actually, I think I might have left that one too late as they've climbed in value again
  10. Well, yesterday I placed the last order for the parts I needed to build it in real life. They're going to take a couple of weeks to arrive though, but I'm going to post the model here as soon as it's finished. I've also made a set of instructions for building it, I'll be uploading those along with pictures of the model in real life
  11. So, I want to go back to the Okotoan alphabet if I may... I have to wonder: how long will it be before somebody inevitably makes a font out of it? There's a font for the G1 Matoran alphabet (called Mata Nui), and being a bit of a font fanatic myself, I'd definitely want one for this Okotoan alphabet too. Well, I'd make it but I don't know a thing about font making unfortunately
  12. For some reason I'm kind of addicted to the album "A Weekend in the City" by Bloc Party at the moment. Particularly the songs "Song for Clay (Disappear Here)" and "Hunting for Witches", there's something about them that keeps me going back for another listen. Next time I get to a record store, I must go and have a look at their other albums and see if they are as good. Also listening to Hard-Fi and The Offspring at the moment.
  13. A great review, and it echoes much the same sentiments that I have about the set when I first picked it up over a month ago. If they insisted on using trans-neon orange, they could have given him at least one more shell, or some claws on the feet perhaps. Just having one shell in that colour makes it feel tacked-on. While I can't deny that the gearbox is clever, I would have preferred a two-up, two-down arrangement as well. That's easy to fix though, just take out the 3 small gears and replace with 2 of these. Or add another knob wheel to the gearbox itself and use 6 small gears to have the arms on one side swing in one direction while the other pair swing in the other direction. You are right, that's the only two instances of red on that MOC. I accept it as an accent colour. The presence of red on the chestplates of these guys doesn't bother me too much personally but if it clashed too much, I would use a plain chestplate instead
  14. No cheap Skull Scorpio SDCC mask for me :(

  15. I don't own much in terms of rare and special Kanohi, especially since I am more into collecting Kraata, the vast majority of Kanohi I have are from regular sets which I don't really consider rare or special so I'm not going to list them. My rare masks that fall into my criteria include: Trans-neon green Miru Infected Hau Red forehead Infected Hau Nuva Green stripe infected Hau Nuva Protodermic Kaukau Nuva Protodermic Miru Nuva If this one counts, I have a rather unique mismoulded Gresh mask If it makes up for my rather pitiful list, while not a Kanohi in any shape or form, I also own a Trans-Orange Kraata. I like to brag about that one
  16. Well, that was an unexpected finding... the Protectors have names now. And terribly difficult to remember ones at that. Don't get me wrong, I can recall about 90% of Gen 1 names from memory (even though, let's be honest, many of them were gibberish like these ones are), but I've already forgotten the names of these guys. Testament to how memorable they are? I might just have to buy my first ever graphic novel - just so I can remember these new names In other news - I am really annoyed with myself for missing out on an SDCC Skull Scorpio mask for $17. I just hope I can find some others that go that low now... but as is the way of the world, I probably won't see them go that low again

  18. Somehow, seeing that animation shot of Basher makes me wish we had got the bony appendages in purple to be used as horns, rather than the Ben 10 tails. I understand why it was done, I just somehow wished we'd got purple bony appendages. It would have fitted better with the skeletal aesthetic to say the least.
  19. Well, I certainly didn't expect ol' Corphos to go down this well in the community, I got to say I'm flattered. It's already become my most faved MOC ever on Flickr and the response here and on BZP has been very positive. I'll almost have to make a "Toa" Corphos in the same vein (read the bio in the original post and what I just said will make sense then). All I can say is thanks for the replies Oh, and maybe I should add this given this seems to be the hot debate of the month: I'm terrible at MOC'ing with entirely Gen 1 parts, I could never make anything that looked half decent when I used to have loads of it. I'd actually go as far as to say that CCBS has actually made me a better MOC'er, so yeah, I'm primarily in the CCBS camp

  22. Here's my guess at likely UK price points, note that these are probable guesses based on current sets with the same USD value as the figures: Luke, Cody, Jango: either £14.99, £17.99 or £19.99 Obi-Wan: either £19.99 or £24.99 Vader: either £24.99 or £29.99 Grievous: either £29.99 or £34.99 While I can see most of the sets being set at their lower price points, I'm afraid I see Grievous being a straight USD/GBP conversion at £34.99, given the last comparable set, Queen Beast, did exactly this. So in summary, the best case scenario is that the sets in total will cost £119.94. Worst case scenario, they'll cost £149.94. Let's hope for something closer to the former eh? Believe me, my wallet's crying as well at the prospect of these figures, especialy when I want doubles for all the useful parts
  23. I think we can agree that the side is not it's best angle I do hope that the $19.99 price point translates into the great British pound as £14.99, like the large Toa did. I wouldn't be terribly amused if LEGO made it £17.99 like so many $20 sets, or worse, USD=GBP: £19.99, often the case with many licensed sets (though I think it would be a first for a CCBS set). I don't think the Stormie is really worth paying £20 for
  24. I never actually realised that! Somehow it makes Luke a little more tempting as a parts pack since 9M beams are somewhat uncommon and I find them useful for all sorts of titan builds. My only worry is Luke (and I think Obi-Wan as well since in the picture he definitely looks taller than Cody and Jango) looking oddly taller than Cody and Jango, but that's something I can't make a final opinion on until I have all the sets in hand and have looked up each character's canon height.
  25. The more I look at these, the more impressive they are to me, and seeing the real figures just cements that. Grievous and Vader are day one purchases for me for sure (though I question Vader's classification as "titan", he doesn't look that much bigger than Luke, just much more filled out. Which is actually a good thing). The only thing I really can't stand on Vader is the round detail shells in gunmetal. They stick out like a sore thumb, black would have been so much better I think. Even Luke looks surprisingly good here in that lightsaber duel pose But here, Grievous definitely steals the show. Even though he's pretty bony and gappy, he pulls off the big bad guy look extremely well and definitely looks imposing.
