None of the stuff I have been waiting for (parts from the City Jungle sets for example) has shown up yet... -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

NinjaGo City is on my wish-list, I just dont have a spare $500 to buy one right now... -
I want the long whip antenna in trans-yellow.

Can anyone tell me how I can place tiles in the gap between a brick and a 1 x 2 x 1 panel in the way TLG did with the tiles in the waiting room of the Assembly Square dentist office (there is a 2 x 2 newspaper tile and a 1 x 2 friends tile and a black 1 x 2 x 1 panel involved) Is it even possible? Do I need to manually edit the lxf file?

This is amazing, much better than my pathetic attempt at a G:Link tram from a while back. Even cooler is the relationship with the people behind the real vehicle and the photos showing the vehicle next to the real thing.

I would love to see more bridges. They did the Tower Bridge as a set, how about other famous bridges from other cities? The Sydney Harbor Bridge would make a great set and I would buy one no question. The Golden Gate Bridge could also make a great set.

Hopefully that black piece becomes available on Bricks & Pieces soon, then anyone can get a whole bunch of them easily :)

I suspect I dont need the super-expensive lights the photo gear shops wanted to sell me and some cheaper lighting from elsewhere would be OK even if its not specifically for photography. Is there any particular color temperature/type of light that works best for reproducing LEGO colors accurately? I will ask the guy in our club who built the Ecto-1 Ideas set how he takes his photos, he may have some tips for me :)

My current camera is a Canon PowerShot SX 120 IS point and shoot, hopefully that will be good enough. As for a setup, I dont own a light box/light tent (and dont have the budget for one) nor do I have any kind of lights (and after seeing the eye-watering prices a couple photo gear shops wanted to charge, I dont think I can afford those either) And yes I want to make the photos of my bus project as good as possible to increase the chances of getting the votes :)

Does anyone have any tips on what I should do to get good photos for an Ideas submission to increase the chance that I can get votes for said submission? Or do people not care how good the photos are for an Ideas submission?

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces

Anyone want to speculate if the roller coaster parts from the Joker Mansion will show up on Bricks & Pieces or not? -
Ideas for a purist Where's Wally/Waldo?
jonwil replied to jonwil's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
The closest thing to the Wally hat would probably be the Santa hat. I do own one Santa hat but its being used on a Santa Claus minifigure so I cant use it for Wally and I cant get another Santa hat in time for the show (setup is on Friday, show starts Saturday so there is no time to order anything from Bricklink or whatever -
Does anyone have any ideas for making a purist version of Where's Wally (or Where's Waldo in the USA)? I am currently using this torso: with this head: and blue legs. I am using the pirate rag cap in red for the hat and a brown bar for the walking stick. Plenty of nice looking customs out there using custom painted and molded parts but nothing purist that I can find. Does anyone have any suggestions for better parts to use, especially for the headgear and walking stick? I considered using the Santa hat but I dont have any of those available (I own exactly one and its in use on the Santa minifig).

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
jonwil replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Whatever the next modular ends up being, as long as its as good as the last few (Detective's Office, Brick Bank, Assembly Square) I am definitely interested. All 3 have interesting building techniques, great parts selections, nice minifigs and interesting subject matter (including things not seen in LEGO before like the Barber Shop in the Detective's Office set, the Laundromat in the Brick Bank and the Florist in the Assembly Square) -

A better accessory for the Nerd could be a black 1 x 2 tile with a graphics calculator print (after all, a fancy calculator is exactly what you would expect a nerd to be using and would fit perfectly) -
They were probably never for sale. Stuff in newer sets tends to get listed on Bricks & Pieces as "sold out" when that really means "not for sale at this time" (it may appear later on or it may never appear). That said, some people have reported being able to buy parts otherwise marked "not for sale" from TLG by calling them on the phone and trying (e.g. the tiger from the City Jungle sets is "not for sale" on the Bricks & Pieces site and likely has never been for sale yet people have gotten some by calling on the phone) Also, this set is awesome. Easily as much fun to build as a modular if not more so. Lots of neat parts and its (IMO) the best "natural-ish tones" parts pack ever released (reddish brown, dark brown, olive green, light bluish grey, dark bluish grey, dark tan, dark orange, medium dark flesh). So glad I took the plunge (even if things didn't go exactly how I had hoped and I paid a little bit more for it than I would have ideally liked :) Oh and the set is (IMO) the first set (with the possible exception of last year's lighthouse) where the 2 x 2 tile with the boat painting really fits :)

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces

The Captains Hat, bait shop sign, grey chicken and fishing net are also available. I wish they would hurry up and list the rest of the parts from the 2h2017 City sets... -
Anyone that thinks the Saturn V Launch Tower has even the slightest chance to be greenlit needs to go read the rules for what is allowed on Ideas, rules that specifically exclude projects that are in the same theme as an existing project (and mentions "Apollo" as one of the banned themes)

I was thinking the Synth-Pop Artist should have a really out there look (maybe a lime green hairpiece or something, something that represents the best of 80s "weird") -
I am surprised that they still haven't produced a buildable C-3P0 figure (even the newest leaks dont show one) yet we keep getting ugly-headed human buildable figures... Maybe there is some license conflict where someone else has a license that prevents TLG from producing one. That or Disney doesn't want one unless TLG makes it in metallic/chrome colors but TLG doesn't want to spend the investment on that many parts in those colors.

For those in Australia trying to find a Saturn V, keep looking, they ARE out there (I spotted 2 of em in the Toys R Us store at Westfield Garden City yesterday as it happens) -
LEGO Star Wars 2018 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!
jonwil replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Do any of the rumors suggest we might finally get a 3PO buildable figure in 2018 or have the rumors that we were going to get one not panned out? -
I want the Batman, City and CMF versions of this. But I know that the amount I would need to spend at TRU here in Australia to get them (assuming they come to TRU Australia) is so much that I cant afford it. TRU Oz doesn't let you buy them individually (or didn't previously anyway)

Saturn V Launcher Tower will be blocked because its not allowed under the "no projects that are similar to an existing Ideas set" (the list there explicitly rules out anything more from the Apollo program) Space Shuttle, LEGO has made several recently and would make their own if they wanted to. I am your father is out because of the Star Wars license. I think the research aircraft has possibilities. Its bigger than any aircraft TLG have produced to date. (unless there is something I am forgetting about). It looks really cool. Any license required from McDonnell Douglas would probably be easy to get (there are no shortage of F-15 model kits out there). Kids love things that look like "fighter jets" (even brightly colored ones like this that have no weapons). I for one would buy one. Peru seems to have zero market so that will probably get rejected. Gilmore Girls will probably also fail (I cant think of too many sitcoms or dramas with a big enough appeal with the right target audience to be viable to turn into a set, Big Bang Theory is one of the few that has the broad audience AND the popularity with the target demographic whilst being safe for kids)
