  1. LEGO appeared on an episode of The Checkout on the Australian ABC network. Found the video on YouTube here Quite an interesting use of LEGO IMO :)
  2. That 1x1 piece comes in a number of other sets (which depending on what you want might have a better parts selection). Its even used in a coffee machine in the new Mountain Police Headquarters. https://brickset.com/sets/containing-part-6196548 has the list so far :)
  3. The Stitch project will get rejected in the review anyway since it violates the rule about not having projects that conflict with existing licenses (and that list of licenses specifically mentions all the characters in the Disney CMF line which includes Stitch)
  4. I wonder what theme they intended the Egyptian bricks to be used for... My guess is they decided the extra cost of making those parts wasn't justified and stickers or printed bricks were better choices.
  5. Damn, the tiger still isn't available online (and probably will never be I suspect if it isn't available by now) Things I did find that are showing up as "available" online: (at least as of the time of this posting and for me here in Australia) Most of the minifig parts from Fun at the Beach Printed ticket tile and clock from the Winter Village Station The 1 x 1 round plate with the shaft sticking out The VW beetle fender piece in red from the London Bus. The tyres (but not the wheels) from the London Bus. All of the parts from the LEGO House set except the printed tile (listed as "we dont sell this part individually"), the 1 x 1 plate in white (out of stock) and the 2 x 2 brick in trans-clear (not showing in the database) Quite a few of the minifig parts from the Jungle and Coast Guard sets along with the printed map tile from the big jungle set. The purple hood from the Teen Titans Go team pack. The red Kayak (but not the purple one) The head bandage part and that little baby piece from the Friends hospital. The printed ski map from the Friends snow resort sets. Captains hat, printed fish hooks tile, red toolbox, crab, bait shop sign, chicken, fishing net and what looks to be all the torsos/heads/legs from the Old Fishing Store (no lobster or seagull though) White trophy, tan crab, black trophy, bowler hat, black crowbar, black police hat, clear fan, dark blue trophy, sand green trophy, dark red trophy, plate 2 x 2 with 2 studs, printed grey 2 x 2 comic book tile, dark grey trophy, gold trophy, cleaver, silver crab, azure guitar and top hat from NinjaGo City. The launcher, gear piece, rip chord and clear piece from the Spinjitzu Master sets (but not the actual spinning bit)
  6. I am surprised they still haven't done a buildable 3P0 figure yet (none of the leaks for what's comming later in the year suggest we are getting one either). My guess is either there are some license issues preventing them making one or producing all the parts in the needed gold color would be too expensive to allow them to hit the price point needed for such a set.
  7. I suspect the A-29 will be rejected because TLG produces all sorts of airplane sets already (the Aviation Adventures from 2013 being the one that is most similar to the A-29) and the A-29 has nothing unique or noteworthy about it. Although after reading on Wikipedia it seems like its still an active military aircraft (I would have thought based on its looks it was probably WW2 era but I was wrong) so that alone would cause TLG to reject it I suspect. IMO Ideas sets need to be different or unique in order to be considered for production (if TLG has already made similar sets in the past in a theme like Creator or City they probably wont green-light it through Ideas) All the sets produced to date in the Ideas theme have been things TLG wouldn't have produced themselves (Some like Minecraft lead to further sets but none of them are things TLG would have produced were it not for Ideas)
  8. Not too many from this series that interest me (which is good for my wallet :) I want 1x Clock King (cool character), 1x Hugo Strange (I collect lab coats so this one is a must), 1x Vacation Joker (love the torso and the inflatable), 1x Wonder Twin Jayna (for the record and record cover), 1x Wonder Twin Zan (neat bucket with a new color handle, 1 x 1 round piece in the bucket and also I gotta get the pair :) and 1x Black Vulcan (lightning bolts would work for all sorts of things and the torso and headgear is neat too) Kinda interested in General Zod for the newspaper but I am on the fence about that one.
  9. Found the information on the computer company that published marketing too early and suffered because of it https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osborne_effect That's why publishing information on new products too early can hurt you.

  11. Ok so the hair piece in question is in an impossible-to-get Team GB figure and a nearly-impossible-to-get TRU exclusive figure and nowhere else. Looks like I wont be adding it to my collection anytime soon... :(
  12. Does anyone know if the hair from the Series 6 Skater Girl has ever been released in plain black without the printing outside of the one impossible-to-get Team GB figure? Do any of the leaks/pictures out there for upcoming sets/figs show that hairpiece in that color? Oh and the unprinted dark orange April hair is not new, it was used on the Series 3 Tennis Player.
  13. I suspect the reason they are going so hard against leaks and against having photos and info out too early has to do with the increasing amount of fakes and bootlegs out there as well as marketing. Firstly if the info gets out too early, it gives the bootleggers more time to get their own products out. And secondly, it can hurt sales of the current product if the news about the new stuff is out there too early (I cant find any details but there was at least one computer company that put out marketing for their new machine too early and everyone stopped buying the current one because the new one was better and that hurt the computer company to the point they went bust or failed or something) I am sure there are people on here who have said "in light of xyz comming out later in the year, I will not buy the set currently on the shelves that I was thinking of buying" (I made the decision to take the Joker Mansion off my wish list as soon as news of a proper Creator Expert roller-coaster came out for example)
  14. Ship in a Bottle is revealed with a release date of 1 February. https://brickset.com/article/33461/ship-in-a-bottle-press-release
  15. My dream would be to see a Cyberpunk theme. Something inspired by the likes of TRON or the excellent book Neuromancer. But since that isn't likely any time soon, the IDEAS light cycle will have to suffice :)
  16. I would love to see the "brick" pattern brick in white and reddish brown. I also want to see the little bar clip piece (the one that has a standard rod attached to a clip that clips onto other standard rods) in white although I can't for the life of me remember why I wanted one... The 4 x 4 round ring plate (with the 2 x 2 cutout in the middle) would be nice in blue, red, yellow and green.
  17. Considering the last cargo trains (the one with the blue diesel locomotive and the other one with the red diesel) have US RRPs of $200, a $300 cargo train would need to have a fair bit more brick content to be worth it at that price.
  18. I would buy a classic-film Ghostbusters set no question. Same with a BTTF set like the train (original or time machine) Nightmare before xmas on the other hand, forget it, never liked that film.
  19. +1 for red legs with black boots, that would be useful for giving Santa some proper boots (heck, they should do it for the next Santa fig they make and give it some printing or something)
  20. That glass piece has been available for months in both the Riddler Riddle Racer and one of the brick boxes.
  21. Looking at the other sets I can see why Blues Brothers got rejected (too adult), Sega Arcades (too niche a product and also requires licensing that might be a pain to obtain), Quest Builder (they already tried something a little similar to this with Heroica and that didn't sell), Red Arrows Hawk (they have any number of jets like that already including an "airshow jet" in City 2018), Venetian Houses (too niche, a bit on the large side and competes with the modulars and Creator building sets), Jeep (they already have a relationship with Fiat Chrysler through their Ferrari deal and any Jeep would come that way), The Office (a bit adult and not popular enough with the audience for LEGO), Power Rangers (they are doing Voltron already so it makes no sense to also do Power Rangers), Surf Rescue (conflicts with Fun at the Beach) and Windmill (too large and detailed). The light cycle goes straight on the "shut up and take my money" list for me though. I wonder what piece they will use for the helmet since I dont think the standard motorcycle helmet works for the characters in the film. This helmet https://brickset.com/parts/6097145/mini-fig-helmet-no-63 in black and trans-blue could work maybe?
  22. I am not particularly a Batman guy but there are so many great parts and details in this set that I sorta want one (whether I can afford it is another matter :) I do hope the roller coaster parts get used in a Creator Expert roller coaster in 2018, that would be "shut up and take my money" territory for me.
  23. So many great things in these new sets. Looks like I might end up spending more on City 2018 than I thought I would...\ I already knew I wanted the police station since I collect police stations but now I want that mine as well. That rescue helicopter reminds me a lot of the rescue helicopters we have in Australia which have the same red and yellow color scheme and that oversized RV looks neat also. Even the helicopter transport is cool with the red wheels (not seen in a long time) And of course I will be buying both the Mining and Police starter sets. Is it just me or does it seem like there are less sets at the cheaper price points in 2018? In particular there seems to be no vehicle sets at the size/price point of this years Race Plane, Buggy and Stunt Truck that I can see and few at the size/price point of things like the Pizza Van/Fishing Boat.
  24. Do we get a "Mountain Police Starter Pack" for 2017 as with the various starter packs of previous years?
  25. The pixelation from around the numbers looks like its an artifact caused by the combination of a crappy camera and the JPEG compression process. As a huge fan of Art Deco, I LOVE this and want one. The pink car (what with the fins and guitar) is probably a nod to Elvis and his pink Cadillac. I wonder if there will be a jukebox inside the diner, it would fit so well with what they seem to be aiming for...
