  1. It seems like MYER corporate has directed stores to hold all the good stuff (modulars, Mini, VW, Slave 1 etc) for the big mid-year toy catalog sale. How many stores will do that and how many will sell at 20% off today I dont know but Brisbane CBD is the one where the "dont sell now" info came from (so if you are looking, dont bother going there). Everything I heard at Chermside as of yesterday implied they would have stock for today but of course they may have received a late notice to hold the stock. Me, I am happy that I have my DO :)
  2. Bought the Detective's Office today, its the best set of 2015 so far easily (only things that I know of that might top it would be Ideas sets like the Dr Who set) Still building the barber shop (bag 2) Awesome parts selection too (lots of great parts for the Italian Pizzeria I intend to build)
  3. Some MYER links that seem to work as of right now: (for me at least) Mini Cooper http://www.myer.com.au/shop/mystore/1438382 Detective's Office http://www.myer.com.au/shop/mystore/1438381 If I find a similar link for any of the other good sets, I will post them.
  4. I don't have anything against the shape of the red cargo train, I just happen to believe that as a parts pack the 60052 is a better set (especially at the super-discount clearance price I paid for it :)
  5. Ended up remembering I own a 4094 Motor Movers and where the 9v motor from that is so I dont need the PF motor anymore :) MYER has 20% off Super Saturday tomorrow (or starts today if you order online). Plenty of stock of the big stuff (modulars, Slave 1, Mini etc) from the looks of it (and from what people on forums and MYER staff and etc have been saying) I got my Detective's Office today from Chermside at the sale price thanks to Click & Collect (the Detective's Office, Slave 1 and Palace Cinema has been showing up on the MYER website all day off and on with it not working then working a minute later then not working again then working from a different web browser etc) although it was a pain to actually complete it (mostly because my phone ran out of battery just after printing "order complete, you will receive a confirmation email shortly") Time to go put this beauty together :)
  6. Umm, Miranda isn't "Brisbane/Gold Coast" :)
  7. I for one find people who profit from violations of other people's copyrights and designs disgusting and would NEVER purchase ANY bootleg LEGO product (and am disgusted with anyone who does and in so doing makes it more viable for the bootleggers to continue to rip off the copyrights and designs of not just LEGO but Disney and Warner Bros and others as well)
  8. We have that style in Australia too. I just think that the parts selection in the 60052 is far better than the one in the yellow or red trains (going by the pictures of the red train that is)
  9. Has anyone seen the Power Functions motor box anywhere in Brisbane/Gold Coast lately? Preferably below RRP but at this point I may have to just go ahead and take what I can get...
  10. Yeah the problem is that I don't have an L motor.
  11. I suspect all of the parts in the Dimensions product will be printed rather than stickered.
  12. I am working on a MOC project for the next club display and I want to put something that moves in it. But I dont have any motors I can use, the only motors I have are 2 x 9v train motors and 2x PF train motors. Does anyone know if it would be fesable to use the PF train motor (which just has axles running through both holes and then train wheels on that) as a stationary motor connected to something moving? Would I be risking damage to the motor if I tried it? Would it provide enough power and torque to work? Or should I just bite the bullet and buy an (expensive in my country) Power Functions motor box?
  13. IMO 60052 is a MUCH better cargo train than this one. The blue locomotive is better than this red one and the yellow one from a few years back and the cargo cars you get in this one are nowhere as nice as those in the 60052 (excavator, helicopter and an ugly brown hopper car full of grey bricks vs cattle car, car with cable drums and a flat bed with various loads)
  14. The Gallimimus Trap is a promo set that is free with pre-orders of the LEGO Jurassic World video game at GameStop in the USA, its possible that EB Games (the Australian version of GameStop) might do the same thing as has been done with other LEGO video game pre-order promos. In any case it definatly wont show up at any retailer. EDIT: Nope, looks like us Aussies get a Dr Wu minifig with the game... Also, the Slave 1, Palace Cinema and Detective's Office are now listed on the MYER website (although you have to search for them rather than just clicking on "Lego") and the DO (at least, didn't check the others) is showing up as "available in store as of 21/05/2015" for a number of stores across the country. Not that its going make much difference since I know most people here either already own them or wont buy them until there is a sale :)
  15. Anyone want to do the math on the prices of various City sets and see how they stack up on price-per-piece? I cant seem to work out the right calculations to use for it...
  16. Comparing the Aussie price of this and the Detective's Office to the US pricing, the markup on this isn't outrageous (not compared to some other themes though) And you do get nearly twice as many pieces as the previous set of its type (with the red bus, bike shop, crane and pizza shop) I still want one though (and I have no doubt I will be able to get one for at least 20% off that RRP of $250)
  17. It might be a "TRU tax" if the photos came from a TRU (I know TRU is notorious for selling LEGO above RRP)
  18. Which MYER? Loganhome? (they didn't have any Jurassic Park sets at all when I went through yesterday around lunchtime...)
  19. The "LEGO Set" stickers aren't as nice looking as the ones in the LEGO big-rig truck from a few years ago IMO. The green Futuron guy looks nice although I do wish the pattern was closer matching to the original Futuron design (but I can understand why there might be technical and business reasons they cant/wont do that) Can anyone tell me (based on this photo http://ukonio.de/leg...54211/?pid=2486 ) if any of the heads are new? (either new in this set or new for 2015) If anyone has an Australian RRP for the set, that would also be nice (not that I will be paying RRP for it :)
  20. Yeah a b2g1 sale would be perfect. Or even just a flat 20% off, I just don't want to pay RRP for my Simpsons S2 :)
  21. F-or those in QLD looking for Jurassic World sets, don't bother with Brisbane CBD or Carindale, reports indicate no stock at either location yet. Chermside had none as of Friday. Nothing (JW or otherwise) worth caring about at Loganholme or Garden city although @ applaud whoever put the dragon and modular scene in the window at Mr Toys Hyperdome...
  22. Best option for those if you want them on sale is to wait for a MYER sale, that's what I am doing to get my Simpsons Series 2 CMF.
  23. I own the Lamborghini police car and wish I had been able to get the regular yellow Lamborghini. Make a LEGO Lamborghini (any model) at any size (Speed Champions size, UCS size, whatever) and it will be "shut up and take my money" territory. There are other cars (Tesla Model S, HSV Maloo Ute, anything from Lotus) that I would buy if LEGO made them but the Lamborghini is the only one that there is any real chance of LEGO making as a set.
  24. If you read the instructions for the Dr Who pack (linked from somewhere on Brickset) you can see from the inventory at the end that the Tardis in the Dimensions set is made from 2 x 4 printed tiles for the sides. What the Tardis in the actual Ideas set will look like we dont know and no the LEGO Dimensions Dr Who set instructions dont show us anything that might point towards what the Ideas set will contain. The mention of Daleks and Cybermen in the Dimensions stuff confirms that we will almost certainly see both characters in the Dr Who level of the video game (why would they need to mention them in the instructions if they weren't in the game) but that doesn't mean a thing in terms of what we see in the Ideas set.
  25. It may be that they couldn't come up with a viable product for Portals (remember they did hold it over for a while after the results of that particular review were announced) but with Dimensions you dont need an entire set, just the figs and micro builds. It may also be that LEGO couldn't proceed with the Portals idea because Valve said no to a Portals set without a new portal gun mold but with Dimensions able to green-light new molds (like this new Portal Gun) they can include it. What it presumably means is that if someone submitted another Portals idea (one that was actually a more concrete set) to the Ideas portal and it got to 10k it might stand a greater chance of being made due to the license and the new Portal Gun piece (I doubt the inclusion of Portals Dimensions means actual sets are on the way, the Hoverboard is new for the Dimensions set and I doubt that means another BTTF set is in the works) Same with Wizard of Oz being in Dimensions and the Ideas project being rejected, its possible that the original Ideas project didn't get green-lit because there wasn't a clear set in the Ideas project or because new molds (or too many new prints/etc) were required.
