I've been giving some thought to using those Ninjago "oni" faces (black with gray, blue, red, or yellow striping in a Japanese ogre style) as drow. Thoughts on this, rogueang?

I've been browsing through the old pages of GoH and came across this. It's very similar to my Barracks Phase I. I must have seen it before (maybe in the main AOM thread) and been inspired. Wanted to give you some credit for that, Alfadas.

The University of Petraea's Doctorate of Historica Program
mccoyed replied to NiceMarmot's topic in Guilds of Historica
Okay. I'll go through them and do that. I did ask about credits in my first AoM build, but I didn't post here and I wasn't sure which credits to try and claim. I'll go through the list and claim whatever is appropriate. Thank you!- 343 replies

The University of Petraea's Doctorate of Historica Program

I'm still not 100% sure how the UofP works. Do I claim credits here? I only have a couple of builds up but I think there may be a few things I could claim...- 343 replies

Thanks, guys. This was a very quick build once I had the minifigs ironed out. The longest I took was on the wagon. I'm very happy with it in spite of its simplicity. Especially the winding road base. I'm glad everyone is commenting on that!

Brilliant ship. I really want to make one like this sometime myself.

Thanks guys. The hats come from Ninjago, actually. I have an abundance of LOTR/Hobbit orcs, Ninjago stuff, and katanas so this all fit naturally I guess. That said, I do wish I had some of the old Castle orc heads as they have a more neutral expression. These guys are pretty evil looking.

@Kabel... it's for the War of the Brothers challenge. I created a Nocturnus expatriate troop for the war, even though I'm Mitgardian. How does that play out? Should I not have done that? My sigfig, One-Eye, has not appeared in my builds thus far because I'm still constructing the "setting" (his ship and crew). In the meantime, I thought it was okay to make stuff for other guilds alongside my Mitgardian builds, but am unsure how it works in terms of guild competition.- 113 replies

Free Build Registration (2nd Quarter,Locking soon!)
mccoyed replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
I have a question about a freebuild I did that is nominally Nocturnus stuff. Do I claim that here for Mitgardian points or do the points go to Nocturnus? Was I even allowed to build Nocturnus stuff in the first place? I feel like I read that it's okay to do freebuilds for other guilds, but then how do the points work? If there's somewhere this is written, I've probably seen it and forgot. Sorry!- 113 replies

mccoyed replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
The Yukar are riding to the aid of Petera, in hopes that they can secure alliances and a new place to settle after being displaced by the Nocturnus Civil War. Hataman, warchief of these Yukar, has bet everything on making he and his men useful and will fight to the bitter end. More pics and story in the thread. Yukar Warband Armament/Personnel Breakdown: Hataman and his two fellow heavily armed riders wear heavy Yukar armor and wield 2-handed mauls of varying style. They ride heavy destriers. The three other riders are Yukar swordsmen who wear lighter armor and ride lighter horse. The wagoneer is also a Yukar swordsman, perhaps the best among them as he is the one entrusted to safeguard the precious stock of food, water, and swords.- 318 replies

(A small build squeezed in as a break from the Hold Fast... more pics on my flickr) The Yukar are a culturally sophisticated warrior society from the Southern Rakath Mountains. They are orcish in origin, but see little of common culture with many of the other orcish tribes they've encountered, let alone other Nocturnians. Displaced by the civil war in Nocturnus, they have become Nomadic and have recently been traveling West. In their travels across Kaliphlin, they have heard rumors of a battle brewing in the Wither Woods. Lacking any allies or sponsorship in any of the lands they've been crossing, a contingent of the Yukar, led by a warchief called Hataman, leaves the main Yukar caravan with a number of his closest retainers. UoP Credits Claimed: Trade and Law: Caravan Anthropology: Tribal Scene Geography: Desert (disregard) Minifig Posing. Pictured: Hataman, warchief of the Yukar, and his favorite drake Ainu. Pictured: Yukar warband traveling on an old road. Hataman hopes that fighting for Petera will earn his people important allies and status in Historica. Meanwhile, the caravan his men left behind is searching for some small parcel of land where they can start over. There was talk of swinging north to Mitgardia, but it is Hataman's hope that this will be unnecessary as his people are not accustomed to cold climates. If the war goes well for him, he may be able to buy or fight his way into lands more friendly to the Yukar lifestyle. Pictured: Yukar supply wagon carrying food, water, and arms. Yukar bladesmiths practice traditions that are centuries old and few outsiders have ever seen or handled a Yukar sword. Hataman managed to have a number made for his campaign, which he plans to offer to Petera as a tribute and symbolic token of the value of the Yukar to any new alliances forged in the aftermath of the War of the Brothers. To ensure that they are not taken for bandits or common mercenaries, the Yukar flies the Nocturnus colors alongside their own standard. Pictured: Another angle of the Yukar march. Emphasis on Nocturnus banner and Yukar standard carried by Hataman's standard-bearer, Atlak.

Fantastic. I, too, would vote for this as best ship in GNAR thus far. Mine won't touch it.

Wow. Getting positive feedback from you guys? That's very special to me as I've been admiring all your builds on Historica for a long time. And yeah, I made those capes. I have this whole thing with felt (I've got so many colors) where I plan to do some Mitgardian fur trappers and textile sellers from Kaliphlin and stuff like that. Very excited to get started on some of those builds in a month or two.

Just stunning. It looks like it might be a nice stopover for the crew of the Hold Fast and I'll keep it in mind, if that's okay, when I finish the ship and write a little story. That larger ship is just great, too. Since I've been shipbuilding for over a week now, I have to admire the cleanness and proportion of it. Favorite part of the build, naturally, but it's all amazing.

Thanks all. @Scaevola: With the fluthark runes, there's some Mitgardia in there as well. Maybe some kinda border baron!

I put this together before I joined Historica. It was the process of building this and creating all the minifigs that made me join up. While this wasn't meant to be an Historica build, I thought you guys might appreciate it. I think it could easily fit in as a Kaliphlin principality or something (though the flags are wrong). Anyway, if the consensus in the comments is that this can count as Historican, I wouldn't mind that. It doesn't use any advanced building techniques to speak of, but C&C is welcome in general. Anyway, have a peek. I'll post a few pics here but there are TONS on my flickr including many better shots of minifigs and gladiator alternates that I cut from the final version. Book II - Mitgardia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
mccoyed replied to Ecclesiastes's topic in Guilds of Historica
I'm working on the Hold Fast. It's turned out a lot bigger than I originally thought. I may put up a post, when it's finished, to entice Historicans to create crew members for it. I am on vacation May 6-27 so I won't get anything out in that time, but I really want to continue with Age of Mitgardia and a few free builds I have in mind. In terms of Book II, we're kinda waiting our turn for our civil war, right? In terms of general discussion, I'm up for anything. -
This is pretty much the area I was hoping to set Arnarhvall. Where is Thorshaven in relation?
