1st August looks to be a very busy day for new sets. I was wondering what was number one on your list of 'must have' new sets? For me, I want to get the Trevi Fountain Architecture set and also the Technic Volvo L350F (42030). That one is going to set me back at $250 though! I have to pick and choose!

I think there are a lot of loose ends with Pick a Brick, which is strange, its always in the 25 top sellers list on S@H. I think most of the process is manual, not automated, and they really do need to sharpen things up there. My experiences with support have been very pleasant, but later realize most of what they told me to do was bad information. I think there are a lot of inexperienced workers on the phone here in the USA. I have had cancelled orders come anyway, told to delete my VIP account (when the card got lost in the post) and make a new one, even though my points got transferred without having to do that to a new card that I did receive (I didn't do it, and have had no problems). I still think Lego is hands above other companies on support though.

My family always comes over and want to know what's new in the Lego town I have on my breakfast table..my niece likes all the gifts I give her. So no outright criticisms, who knows what they are thinking though.. I don't let that bother me. I had to have the cable guy come over last week, my phone just stopped working, and I find out I have to get a whole new cable modem, one that does the phone too. It is on my desk and my desk is buried under Lego, and other things...and I had a folding table next to it buried in Lego. Well, he takes one look at it and says wow, you have a lot of that. While he was outside, I cleared it all away, I was in the midst of sorting and putting it away, and the space was completely cleared out by the time he got back down from the telephone pole. Was amazed how fast I was to clear it out of the way to work on the wires. After finishing, he had to take a good look at my Lego modular town, and first thing had to say was 'thats some expensive stuff' so knew what they were. He seemed amazed by what you can do with the bricks. I had fun showing it off.

LDD 5, what features do YOU want?
talos replied to BasOne's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I would like to have a way to subdivide the colours into 'all colours' and 'available colours,' ones that you can actually find to build something. Also the colour names used in a BOM list, are not always consistent with what they are called on BrickLink or other marketplaces (i.e. light stone gray vs. light bluish gray.) -
I was able to clean sticker gunk off some windows I got on BrickLink using an adhesive remover pen I have. its made by Scotch 3M. It smells like orange oil. They sell it at Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Scotch-Sticker-Marker-Remover-Pen/dp/B00009L1WF

Could 2014 Make Lego Fans Bankrupt?
talos replied to BrickBuilder3213's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I have just this year gotten back into buying sets, and yes, its costing me a lot... I have gotten a couple 2nd copies of the modulars on top of some of the new sets. I better not say how much $$ ;-) Now I am going to go to Disneyland next month and will be visiting the Lego store there, I hear its a must see store. From what I have heard, its great. I wonder what I will get. Definitely want to check out the Pick a Brick wall, and the Trevi Fountain set will be available by then. I just ordered the Mini...haha, and its only mid year! -
It's strange it won't appear on the 'hard to find' category. For me, it's mainly an iPad problem, I think. If I search on my desktop Mac, it comes up in a set number search, but on the iPad, it can't be found. There are a lot of differences between the tablet version of the S@H site and the desktop browser version, I have other problems with it too..

I just noticed today, on the USA S@H site that the Sydney Opera House has vanished. It's not there in any category, and searching for it's set number 10234 brings up nothing. I'm not sure how long it's been since I last noticed it. It's not like it sold out, usually a set will stay visible with 'sold out' or 'out of stock' for a long time before it disappears. Does anyone know what the story might be?

The original price was $20, a new one on BrickLink is about $70, and up, used for about $50-60. So for the autograph, that sounds reasonable for the going rate on that set, if its a new, sealed box.

I just placed my order, I have to pay 9% tax here in Calif. so around $9. Its over $75, so free shipping and with the two free poly's, its worth getting it now for me. I used $15 of VIP points towards it also. So is costing me $92.

I had a seller vacuum pack the tiles I bought, so they are flat in the envelope. The problem is, they left out one entire item, some 1x2 tiles. I emailed them that they were missing from the order, and they replied, 'they wondered why there were these tiles packed to go, but not sent' and they would send them to me. Well, over a week has passed, and I emailed again..they said they would check on the tracking...another 4 days, and nothing...I emailed again....geez. What a pain in the big behind...and its for just $1 worth of tiles...

I thought I read somewhere that the Mini was going to be available early for VIP's, is that true? Does anyone know? Thanks!

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
talos replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I think so too, last chance.. there were none on the shelves at my Lego store, on Friday when I was there. I think all the stock is spoken for too, I noticed the GE appeared on the 25 top sellers on the USA S@H site...there must of been a run on it when it reappeared.. -
I also have got all the newer modulars intact, but recently been buying 2nd copies to use in mocs and other modification ideas. I've 2 Town Halls, 2 Grand Emporiums, and now 2 Parisian Restaurants. I used the 2nd TH as a source for the majority of the parts I needed to build my Victorian townhouse MOC. I still needed to make about 20 BrickLink orders to get the rest of the parts I needed to finish it. It took a long time and a few bucks to do. It was very difficult to find more than a couple parts at a time from any one BL store, it was pretty tedious, and all the shipping starts to add up. You really need to research colors and parts beforehand to see if a project is worth it. I am glad I built my MOC, I love how it came out.

I only got a small cup, was restrained and got just one horse, (I didn't see them till I had the cup mostly full...LOL) there were only about 10 left in the bin. I got a stack of 2x12 plates in LBG, a bunch of 2x8 bricks in white, then filled in the spaces with some black slopes and tiles and those 1x2 handle parts, like on the top of the haunted house, not sure what they are called, I didn't pack it too tightly I guess. I was hoping to find some narrow wheels for all the tires I have, but they only had the wide wheels. Love that mismatch they always seem to have at my store.

I went to my closest Lego store yesterday, and got a small pick a brick cup. While I was doing my picking, I was overhearing two of the three or so workers, they were just chatting away, not really helping anyone, until someone came up to them with a question. So I think the service can be spotty at times. There have been different people working every time I've been there. The thing that got me thinking about this thread though, was when I was ready to pay, I got in line behind a lady buying a Sea Cow set, she said it was a gift, it's over $250, and I am positive they didn't give her a free poly bag, the shredder. I got a couple sets and my PAB cup, and a baseplate, so my total was up there too. I was about to sign then remembered and asked I should get the shredder, and the clerk says, 'oh yea, you bought a lot, have 2'... So if someone who didn't know, wouldn't of gotten the freebie. Later I realized I didn't get a new calendar either...

What E-Mail Address Does Lego Shop @ Home Use?
talos replied to Jdurg's topic in General LEGO Discussion
My Outlook doesn't block anything, it puts things into the 'junk' folder. My ISP doesn't block anything, but I would think that is where the emails would be getting blocked. -
Here is a photo of my modulars with the PR next to the TH, I think they scale well together. The floors on the TH are taller though.

I just got a BL order and the seller reused bags from a Lego set, they had the numbers on them (1, 2, etc) and they had heat sealed them too. So the parts wouldn't fall out. Nice effort :-) What has me a little annoyed is a seller that has not replied to my shipping cost question for a set I was interested in buying. I asked two separate sellers, one replied right away, the other, it's been a week now, and nothing.

I just had a situation last week. I had 3 separate BrickLink orders coming the same day. Small orders, in flat mailers. The post arrived and I find only 2 there, not 3. I get worried, and check, online all 3 still showed out for delivery. I wasn't sure what to do, but an hour or two later, the missing order appeared on my mailbox clothespin. Somehow, the postman delivered it to the wrong house, and whomever it was walked it over to my house. I was relieved. So, a lot of different things can happen, I wouldn't immediately think it was theft. I know what you mean about having PayPal plastered all over the label though, everyone assumes it's EBay.

I tried Firefox again and it does work for me again too. I haven't tried Chrome. Just FF and Safari.

I always get a tracking number once the order shows 'shipped' on my account. I get an email tells me it's shipped and it has a link to the tracking. I always use the free shipping, which is always FedEx. It takes about 5 days, to get to me in California. I seem to run into them having problems with the VIP points, 2x now an error pops up saying I can't use my points towards a purchase, because of a system issue. I get more points added after it's shipped. Just bad timing for me I guess.

I spotted this Lego Ideas project, called 'The Separator' :-) https://ideas.lego.com/projects/67710

I counted and I've got 12 orange and 1 green one. They put one in all the bigger sets. They have them to buy I noticed for $2.49.
