Nifty, thanks for sharing! The way LEGO "after the fall" started to embrace not just efficiency but what the market really wanted is astounding. I can only hope CUUSOO will continue to be a driving force behind product development.

LEGO® CUUSOO 空想 - Turn your model wishes into reality
rob-cubed replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I dunno, I'm not a SF/Mech fan at all... but I still want the exo-suit. It has just the right balance of greebling, retro space, and all-around cool factor. This is the first CUUSOO that should appeal to both kids and adults. -
It does seem odd that PS would be the next to go, but maybe it hasn't been selling as well. The GE box is old enough that it still has a picture of the Green Grocer sitting next to it... if I were a betting man, that's where I put my money...

Beautiful! Love the cornice and deco work on the rear. Can't wait to see this one completed!

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
rob-cubed replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
There were some dartboard stickers in one of the recent sets for LEGO movie, but my choice was the printed tile from the Dejarik hologame board from the Millennium Falcon, which looks close enough. I picked up some "liquor bottles" and martini glasses from BrickForge along with a bunch of brown/green bottles and glasses from LEGO. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

^^ I added a stocked bar and moved the rear door off-center but haven't finished the interior... need some tables, a dart board... the Simpsons house showed up and my daughter and I have been focusing on that instead! Changing the PS sign lettering to "Bar" was easy, but after seeing what some other folks have done with letterforms on 3D exterior signage, I want to completely re-do it. -
Kumusta Yoca! Welcome. Love your display idea in those colored cubes... reminds me of the LEGO movie credits!

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Every downtown needs a suburb! The Simpson's house is a bit overscale next to the modulars, just like the Creator houses are underscale. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
rob-cubed replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
True, the exteriors aren't as architecturally distinct but still contain a lot of neat details. I like PS for two reasons: it is mostly residential space, which is fun to decorate, and the narrower buildings provide great filler between the larger buildings in the modular line. I'm hoping LEGO comes out with more 16-wide brownstones/townhomes because they really complete the feeling of a city street. I disliked the cutesy pet shop and replaced it with a bar . A convenience store would work well too. Two of the coolest bits are the spiral stair construction and the bathroom tucked underneath. While the interiors aren't 100% complete like the Parisian Restaurant, they still had some fun microbuilds. -
Howdy and welcome! The customs will come, what's important is you are alternately entranced/inspired by the journey.

Agreed with everyone else... start much smaller! The MOC you originally posted would require a small fortune in bricks. I like the one Bob de Quatre just posted, it uses SNOT for the face which gives you a lot of flexibility to design and give Unikitty different facial expressions. You could probably even scale that down by another half or quarter size and still have a very convincing Unikitty. You can use LDD to design and get a parts count, but I find the best way is just to get a pile of bricks and start playing. You'll need lots of pink...

Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary CUUSOO set Discussion
rob-cubed replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in LEGO Licensed
This is a must-order! I can only hope the GB firehouse follows after LEGO sees the high demand for the ECTO-1. I'd like to understand how they reach a decision on which CUUSOO submissions make the cut, but for those who are complaining about smaller sets or reliance on licensed properties... well, LEGO is in the business of turning a profit. Licenses are familiar, and already come with a built-in fan base and storyline. The higher the cost, the smaller the potential market for a set. CUUSOO is an experimental concept and it's still in its infancy. I can only hope they start expanding into larger sets in the future, like the "Japanese old style architecture" which is still under review and one I voted for. -
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE, and where have you hidden the bodies of Drac and his associates? Just kidding... this is a really fun idea. Love the primary colors. Can't wait to see it finished. Maybe switch the shutters so they open out vs in towards the door though? Covering the windows makes it feel a little "shut-in".

First, thanks mods! It's a thankless job but someone has to do it. Second, thanks everyone else. The community on this board is... dare I say it... pretty AWESOME. Lots of talent but constructive feedback is the norm. Most of us will never be "master builders" but it doesn't matter. Sharing is why we're here.

Really fabulous renovation job on the HH and hearse! I like how you stayed true to the originals but improved them inside and out. The interiors are just fabulous and your photographs are great... especially the spotlight on the fig in the bloody tub. Creepy.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
rob-cubed replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Anyone's guess whether the GE or TH is going to be retired first. Get whatever you like better. While not a modular, the Haunted House would be my first pick for "get it before it's gone". And it can be modified to a modular pretty easily. -

I would absolutely LOVE to see a light yellow/bright light yellow modular! I am slowly amassing a collection of light yellow bricks for a MOC. That color hasn't been seen since the "Xtreme" sets well over a decade ago. The newer light yellow/cool yellow is a bit brighter... not quite as sophisticated but still an "adult" color. It's possible the orange might be medium flesh/nougat which was used in the Prince of Persia builds. It can look pretty orange in the right light and is another of my favorite "adult" colors that hasn't really been utilized enough. One I don't see enough of is dark tan, which has found it's way into a lot of sets but never used extensively in the Creator or Modular lines. It already exists in a lot of brick sizes and isn't very expensive to piece out.

Do it! HH will mostly certainly jump in price once retired. It's the only set for which I've purchase multiples, it's that cool.

Welcome Mark! Sounds like you are off to a good start already. Maybe you should turn back before it's too late...

Sorry to hear you are disappointed. Not all of the lower-cost Creator sets are equally thought through, and you aren't the first to comment on the design of the Kre-O box and how LEGO needs to step it up. The BURP panels... well, they really aren't good for much besides making mountains or castle walls. But they do come in handy. My suggestion would be to buy a second set, so you have pieces to complete the mountain and add expand the cabin or add a shed.
