I think that's the point... models != sets (can't find the "does not equal symbol) so I'm not surprised you both never considered that the words could be interpreted differently as it's pretty clear :D I wouldn't worry about wanting to make everyone happy though - that isn't ever gonna happen! :D And I don't feel that I've been disadvantaged by this "tweak" shall we say... No... I'm at a disadvantage because I can't get my head around Bluerender setup on my Mac *rofl*

Thanks Alfadas... They're meant to be scary... Please, don't have knightmares! :D

One simple journey through cold night Yet morning rise became our last Foreboding doom doth us accost A dread knight comes and we are lost The clip of hooves; a cry of crows Infernal steed through gloom appears With mounted rider; armour glossed A dread knight comes and we are lost What curs-ed fortune for our men? That brought the hellish hooves of hate And shriek of death; our hearts we crossed A dread knight comes and we are lost Oh woe is us, we must not fall But who can stand against such ill? "Men fight together! Damn the cost!!" A dread knight comes and we are lost "Tis only one?! We CAN survive!" Our spirits soar as morning dawns Then more we see through misted frost The dread knights come and all is lost

But that's the whole point... as the participants grows... and 75% of the way through the contest... the rules shouldn't change in my opinion. This isn't a clarification/addendum - its a rule change. "Your entry should consist of at least 3 models and a maximum of 10 (Update April 23: you can interpret 10 models as 10 sets)." reads pretty differently to... "Your entry should consist of at least 3 sets and a maximum of 10."
-
The rules stated 10 models - which was clear from the beginning. It seems wrong to change the rules with 7 days to go before the end of the contest because of... what? Because some entrants chose to disregard the rules completely - or failed to read them properly? (which I was guilty of myself but clarified them before I started to submit) People might seem to feel that they are "limited" but surely that's part of the skill in choosing what to include and what not to include? Otherwise a set can be padded with extra models... extra variations of builds etc (TLG is guilty of this at times... just how many mini catapults do we "need" in LOTR sets?) With the rule change we can now push the boundaries of quantity not quality... please someone explain to me what's wrong with... 1) pick/design your theme 2) choose the best 10 models in your range that really capture the essence/spirit of what you are trying to achieve with your theme?

Thanks! You know the moment I saw it I thought... hmm... I wonder... and the second I tried it I was like... cool I'm buying 9 more! :D Its funny that the other ultron helmets just don't work well at all... but perhaps its just on the sand green of the orc... the light bley looks really bad IMO

Support on Ideas = even better! :D :P Yeah they are just the right side of crazy to work well - thanks Heh - you noticed? There isn't quite the right colour range in TLG bricks for my liking... at least I didn't think there was... I don't think I made it clear in the description that the Eagle's Claw repeating ballista is a gift from the High Elves to their Woodland cousins (similar to the Battle chariot).

The future is bright... The future is green... The future is armoured... And it sits on 2000 pounds of evil smelling tusked terror! Uglugg is a mean old Orc... Veteran of both Dwarvern campaigns and survivor of the Elf border raids... And rumour has it that he has even faced down a Dread Knight in one on one combat! A snarling brutish thug of a warrior - with enough strength to cause plenty of havoc when things are going his way on the battlefield and enough intelligence to retreat when things aren't... Which makes Uglugg the perfect Orc to lead the most feared warband in the known world. Hand picking his lieutenants personally from the strongest tribes around, Ugglug's Armoured Orcs has plundered and scavenged more than enough heavy armour to last themselves a lifetime. And if a fully armoured Orc war band is bad enough, mounting them on the wildest boars in the badlands is downright dangerous! These beasts of battle are ferociously fast, eternally angry and cruelly charge the enemy without mercy. It takes a really brave warrior to stand in the face of a sounder of charging boars. Or a really stupid one. Because of this, no greenskin force should want to fight without the services of Uglugg's Armoured Orcs... And no opposing force should want to face them. Not if they want to survive to fight another day that is. For the first time ever, you can now recreate one of Ugglug's most famous encounters, the Elf Border Raids... Mount Ugglug and one of his trusted lieutenants on war boars and explore the edge of the forbidden forest Wheel out the elf ballista 'Eagle's Claw' and use the twin spring loaded shooters to force the orc raiders out of the forest Use the secret door in the tree to make good the Elves' escape (and get more ammunition for the Eagle's Claw) ---------------------------------------- If there's anything about this that you like then I would love it if you would take the time to click and support! https://ideas.lego.com/projects/134367 Please help inspire TLG and the Lego community to release more castle / medieval / fantasy themed sets! Thank you :D

Brilliant! Search for Nunki-Psi on IDEAS and support everything he does (I'm assuming NP is a he but apologies if not!) if you can't find it then go to my page and what I support and find them that way. Then build your own structures and then submit them - let us know and hopefully we'll all vote. The more we work together the better it's going to work. Brilliant! Along with your great Roblox stuff build and submit a yellow castle - like the one you want to see :D then let us know and we can all support too. We may be a small pool but that doesn't mean we can't make a big splash! :D

Mac rendering
nine09nueve replied to Mr Greeble's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Any suggestions on getting Bluerender (or failing that ANY rendering programme) to work with LDD files and Mac OS? (I need clear instructions... spoken really slowly! *blush*) -
That's great Sahidko - thanks for the info... As I said before I don't profess to know of TLG's rationale behind what they choose or not... Maybe IDEAS isn't the way to get TLG's attention with respect to castle stuff... But seeing as this isn't a LOTR forum but a Castle one (although I appreciate the cross over and have many LOTR sets myself) I still hold to my last statement... If the castle loving community do not as a group petition / lobby / support / promote / submit any castle sets or ideas in a strategic or consistent way... How else will TLG take "us" seriously?
-
If we (ie: the MFCLLC - Medieval Fantasy Castle Lego Loving Community ^^ ) want TLG to end the drought then we need encourage TLG to make it rain... Are we petitioning TLG to make more castle sets? Are we being strategic and buying "castle" themed sets past and present? Are we voting for medieval themed sets on Lego Ideas? Are we submitting medieval themed sets on Lego ideas? Are we thinking of new and creative ways to show TLG that we will may decent money for castle stuff over other themes? I have no idea how TLG chooses what to develop or not... But they are a business and (all things being equal) if they see something that will make them a lot of money then they will head in that direction (so long as it is in line with their values etc etc) If no medieval themed design has got near 10k votes on ideas for example then TLG will more likely continue with developing lines like Angry Birds before revamping castle stuff :(

Porco Rosso!!! Make Marco's red plane too "Folgore" and you'll have a fan for life :D

Cheers BL! Hehe - yeah - we'll get round to a big battle scene soon! (can't guarantee it will be a MOC in the strictest sense of the word - as I'm no good at them! - but yeah there will be some actual action coming) Obrigado! You'll need a lot of the pieces from the Lion Legend Beast in white or light bley too :D

"I have seen the future and the future is green!" A wise elf augurs as she gazes into the faces of her allies and wonders. "Do we have anything that can answer this nefarious threat?" Silence. No one wants to catch her eye. Those that do, cannot hold her gaze. "But what of the Sky Reamer, my lady?" A voice from behind the group eventually calls out. A murmur of voices, a turning of heads, and a young Elf with hard eyes steps forward. "Let us attack them from the clouds. Let my Sky Hunters rain death from above... Please?" She pauses a moment, before turning towards the stone again. "Let me see, Kinsman. And let me think." For what seemed an age she stared into nothingness before pointing back across the group, uttering a single word in reply. "Go." That was less than an hour ago. Now the young Elf finds it is he who is lost in thought. It is a good job his dutiful beast knows the way to the Sky Hunters home better than he does. For years the Sky Reamer project was nothing but a dream. He lost count of the times he was told that it would never work. That the Giant Eagles wouldn't want any part of it. But now, they needed him. They needed his team. They needed him to be ready, But was he? A low growl brings him back to the present; The majestically beautiful white lion, telling him of their journey's end. "Nearly home, Princess," he calls out in return, "Nearly home." https://ideas.lego.com/projects/136303 and 2016 Digital Design Contest physical version :D

Ah.... the age old dilemma... what is better? Many similar troops or few varied ones? Lets look at an extreme example.... <--- 5,248 Clone troopers (and lets take note that with nearly 1million views of this vid alone AND 100K+ subscribers... he probably makes more money than any of us just from his you tube videos of... what shall we call it... an army? ...nope - this... to me is a collection... something that gathers dust and makes you feel "cool"... but you can't "really" play with 5248 troopers at once... EVEN if you were fighting on a large scale and moving 32x32 baseplates around the house! :DAs for me I like it when it looks like some thought of coherence and consistency has gone into the design of a group of troops... big or small (although I wouldn't personally describe 5 troops as an army... maybe a squad or a unit perhaps?) and it's not just big collections of the same figure that can be accused of this... I also see it plenty with small groups of minifigures too... However, soldiers don't HAVE to match to be part of the same group do they? Well read this article ----> http://exploringbelievability.blogspot.co.uk/2010/12/psychology-of-uniforms.html <---- a brilliant place to start any conversation about this type of thing. For me consistency and coherence runs across a whole faction theme... so I look to have 3 main rules for each of my armies... so for my wood elves I decided this: No heavy plate armour... (they live in the wood so are going to need to be more mobile) They are a very shooty army... so 50% has to be ranged with bow and arrows (rather than crossbows) so I have 80 troops with bows on foot, 20 scouts (bows and hand weapon) plus half my mounted troops are ranged and armed with bows only (as opposed to the other half that are armed with spears)... and finally both male and females of significant numbers in the troops. In my mythos, the female elves fight too... the majority might not necessarily be melee troops... it is still sensible to protect those that have to grow the next generation perhaps slightly behind the front line... but they can still fight to help protect their mates and their children... so why not have she-elves fight too? Some of the most important general/hero/leader troops are also female. So these 3 rules: no heavy armour / 50% ranged / females fight too will be completely different for every other faction I create... and this allows both the basic army differentiation (ie: lots of minifigs/less minfigs... all the same armour and weapons/all different) to matter less because there is still a (in this case) wood elf "flavour" running through the whole collection :D
