  1. So in the meantime - what can we do about it to encourage TLG to change their mind? To make one earlier if they were going to make one later? To actually make one If they weren't planning to make one at all? To encourage what type of castle theme they may revisit?
  2. That is VERY good DoubleD - nice! If you are thinking of "colouring" -- Revell paints no 35 is very close paint colour match to light flesh :D
  3. Yup - thats how I do it... you need to be more careful with older arms - in case they themselves are brittle... and as AmperZand said: "never from the hands" I wouldn't say lots of strength for the legs - otherwise you bork the pin inside which is delicate... it needs a sustained pressure (kinda) in the right way... as in not at a funny angle --> I'll see if I can find a video on it somewhere
  4. As in the Slasher? Yeah I have a sweet spot for that one as it was the first one completed :D Thanks SK6 - they are very Greenskin aren't they? The story is hardest part... or at least it takes the most brain power! :D
  5. (These are 3 of my entries into the DDC 2016 PLEASE VOTE! as well as my 9th submission on ideas.lego.com/projects/135443) "So, Ratpus, what have you got for me?" enquired Gazgob the Wizard, his voice echoing around the large cavern. 'Wonderful things, your wizardness," a snivelling wretch of a goblin replied, face covered in soot, oil and grime, "Wonderful things!" Ratpus considered his next words carefully. This was the first time he'd ever had personal dealings with the famed (and if truth be told) feared goblin wizard. And if the stories were to be believed, Gazgob had a short temper and a long memory... not a good combination in someone who could set light to you with the flick of a finger. Apparently. "Well, you wanted versatility and choices... and so instead of just making you one war machine... I thought to provide you with three!" he declared with a most leering and sycophantic flourish. "Go on," the Wizard replied, giving very little away, much to Ratpus' disappointment. "Erm... Yes... so..." Ratpus stammered, before recovering admirably. "The framework is the same for all three, more or less and each one is pushed by one of our more stupid trolls." "More stupid Ratpus? Is this not a more dangerous state of affairs when they are pushing these machines near our troops?" enquired the Wizard once more. "Not at all, quite the opposite your wizardness. The stupid ones are normally the strongest, and tend to obey their very last order given... until they are given a new one. You see we need one goblin to drive one troll, which in turn will drive one war machine." Ratpus paused, watching Gazgob for any evidence of his pleasure or displeasure as his words sink in. If he knew any better, thought Ratpus, the wizard seemed to take twice as long as most trolls to understand anything that was told to him. "Okay," nodded Gazgob as he waved dismissively in Ratpus' direction, "You mentioned choices?" Ratpus felt a flush of heat wash over him for some reason. "Er yes, Wizard Gazgob. Three choices," replied Ratpus whist removing some big sheeting from each of the three machines, revealing them to the Wizard for the first time. "The slasher here, has four spinning blades, the basher there has two spinning hammers and finally the masher, my personal favourite as I get to ride on it rather than walk behind the troll, has the two hammers striking up and down in front of the wooden shield. Actually, through the shield to be precise." "Ah yes," interrupted the Wizard, "I remember seeing those during our last battle against the humans. What were they from?" "They were from some sort of field ka-non. Or at least I think that's what they call them. Never seen those humans fielding those kind of infernal weapons before. Perhaps they of Dwarvish origin my Lord? Anyway, a fat lot of good it did them. Eight large explosions and a horrible mess in their lines that our chariots managed to charge through with great success. You must have been proud of your brother seeing him rout the enemy before the rest of us got half way across the battlefield?" No. Definitely not the right thing to say. Ratpus could actually feel the air around him start to feel hot. And thicken. "You presume rather too much Ratpus for a cobbler of... machines," Gazgob the Wizard spat the words out with slow, and rather deliberate menace. "The fact that my brother was fortunate enough to take advantage of Dwarvern incompetence and misplaced human trust is one thing... a fortune that has been extended to you only as so far as that you have been gifted nearly three pieces of wood and metal... scavenged to protect our worthless trolls from the inevitable missile barrage that will invariably come their way. And I truly like what you've created. They will beget more chaos and mayhem than any amount of damage that those hairy rock eaters' faulty weapons can cause." A final pause. Ratpus was beginning to realise, as beads of sweat poured down his back, that perhaps the Wizard wasn't as slow to comprehend as he had once imagined. Just slower to speak as quickly as most goblins. A trick that Ratpus wonders he should have learned. "But do not EVER tell me who or what I should be proud of. And certainly not my STUPID SHINY BROTHER!" And with that, Gazgob the Wizard turned to walk out of the chamber, leaving a rather hot, and incredibly scared Ratpus, with his war machines. And a faint smell of singed hair. ---------------------------------------------------------------- The beauty of this 3-in-1 set is that they all work. Don't believe me? Watch the video and watch them in action versus a unit of wood elf scouts!
  6. Thanks TV... if you have a moment I could do with a vote or two on LegoIDEAS... getting killed out there! ;D
  7. Thanks - although not sure it would win a fight against your mechanical elephant though! :D
  8. Thanks UM - the 3 pictures here don't do it justice - if you look at the flickr album you will see it's quite a height difference - and a real pain to get a connector strong enough to hold the front in place without collapsing! :D
  9. More pictures of the story available via flickr and all good retail outlets "So the Almater finally sees sense in that pretty little head of hers and decides to let the Sky Hunters loose, eh Dawn Weaver?" shouts the red-haired elf, wind streaming through her hair, as she calls down to the pensive looking elf at the head of the Sky Reamer. The young kinsman's face broke in to a wry smile, and he calls back over his shoulder, still keeping his face looking into the clouds, eyes straining as he scans the area ahead. "You really should show the Almater more respect, kinswoman. You never know, you may become one some day!" The red-haired elf roared with laughter. "I shouldn't think so, Weaver. I won't live that long... I love the fight too much! Speaking of which, where are they? Can you see them yet?" A shake of Dawn Weaver's head and she turns her attention to the elf behind her. "See anything through that spyglass of yours? "No, not with this low cloud type that we seem to have around us. But this isn't a normal cloud formation, there is some unnatural magiks at play." The dark-haired elf lowers his seeing scope. "They know we're coming... we must be careful. I have a bad feeling about this." A look of concern flashes across the she-elf's face. "Then I say we land, Weaver", she shouts. "Now!" "Understood my Lady," the young Elf replies before calling out to the majestic birds connected to the Sky Reamer by a harness and a large chain. "Take us down my friends, quickly please." The giant Eagles cry out in unison, a response to show that they have understood and the craft begins to descend through the clouds. "Crew, prepare crossbows," Dawn Weaver commands as the Reamer prepares to land. The two of them hurriedly start unfastening the catches around their weapons. "Contact!" he shouts, opening the front section as the Eagles alight gracefully. "Right my Lady, we're here," he says, brandishing his spear. "Your orders?" "Same as they ever were, Weaver," she says with another smile. "Let's hunt some Orc!" Meanwhile, not far away... "So Spike... woz we doing here then eh? "We'ez waitin' innit Grungorth... for da pointies! "Da pointies, Spike?" "Das right Grungorth... Da Boss ses dey'r coming dis way wiv some big thing in da sky!" "So das why we gots a shoota Spike?" "Yur Grungorth... Da Boss ses if we sees anywuns we don't like... den we shoot em!" "And yous can fire dis thing then can ya Spike? "You betcha Grungorth... spent all last week shooting at snotty little Gobbos. Great fun! Now shut up Spike and listen out for them. We can't see nuffink in dis stoopid fog dat da Gobbo Wizbang has magiked up. But I just know dat dey're coming soon... I can smell em!" ---------------------------------------- If there's anything about this that you like then I would love it if you would take the time to click and support! ideas.lego.com/projects/134366 Please help inspire TLG and the Lego community to release more castle / medieval / fantasy themed sets! Thank you :D
  10. The new range of castle and space themed box sets that... erm Lego have released... ahh yes... *cough* that's an even fairer point! :D
  11. Oh - er - sorry if you were involved in NK'd development! I was only teasing (slightly) Yah that's what I'm afraid of! (Although space castle soup means people can buy both space or castle sets to add to the NK theme... Clever marketing/product development if you think about it)
  12. Army? That's just one Cavalry troop! You really don't wanna see the rest of the army ;D
  13. I'm sure you're right - I suppose the point I was going for was that if we had more 10K castle sets, we'd stand more chance of attracting TLG's attention... probably jumped the shark a bit! :D Wow 2009 for NK huh? 7 years and that was the best they could come up with *snigger* #joking #kinda
  14. Update to Lego BATTLES(renders and video to come soon) 7 models and counting ---> AnotherGol : Like your new range BTW Please join - the more the merrier!
  15. Absolutely... I suppose that is why I'm curious why any of the rules "had" to be changed at all... I vote for next time just say "NO" to any rule changes :P
  16. Thanks! A bit like your recent MOC... you know it's just not going to end well :D
  17. +1 here :D Nice work songwm... a real sense of foreboding with the view from the elevated position!
  18. No please don't... that would be terrible. Like all things forum-wise... it quickly seems to get quite pedantic huh? (P.s: love the premise behind your flickr Capt America comic BTW)
  19. I will - as long as you can be my LDD Bluerenderer *cheer* Course you are... I would be too if I'd worn the admins down enough to change the rules to suit me too! *edited to include references And in response to the Admins reiterating the 10 model rule Personally I like this myself... emphasis mine
  20. I think it is your definition of "floating" - I don't think that your models won't hold together if you built them IRL (or at least it doesn't look like there's any elements suspended in mid air or not connected to anything) BUT... Your polar drill team minifigure and drill plane pursuit vehicle are both "floating".... I suppose you would say they are "flying" but they can't really fly... they are lumps of plastic... and although they both look eminently swooshable, the picture you've created has them hovering in mid-air... as it were. That I think is the issue Bublible is talking about. Interestingly enough there is nothing in the original rules that speaks about being connected to the floor... But if those models don't hover in real life then floating them in a render (although looking pretty) isn't a real representation of what they would "do" if they were built in real life. Don't create box-art or similar to present the theme - A swooshing ship is probably similar to box art... as is your big advert picture... As an aside - looking back through ALL the rules entries... more than anyone it seems that you've particularly wanted to push the rules / change the rules to suit your ideas and builds... the 5 custom colours parts rule... the 10 sets rule... any reason why you don't seem to just want to accept the rules as they are and work with them? That's the challenge isn't it? :D
  21. Noooo! I love your wipeout themed builds :D All builds are WIPs until the closing date so if you want to change it all them I'm sure it's absolutely fine (will still be a *bit* sad though!)
  22. Oh no... Night time was absolutely no problem at all... It was dawn that brought with it all the trouble :D Thanks! (Or should it be bad Knights?) yeah it went perfectly here with these guys... All the riders have one as a side arm (except the Captain who has the double flail and the champion who has two) but funnily enough with the angle of the shot you can't tell as its directly behind their bodies - clipped to the side of the barding :D
  23. I'm inclined to agree with you... although its less in your face than your advertising campaign! :P *hehe*
  24. Actually Bublible is right... It is explicitly mentioned twice... Don't create box-art or similar to present the theme - just the models themselves Renders are allowed but photoshoping in other parts, backdrop, box-art etc into your images is not allowed. So presumably... THIS below... Although nice and pretty and eyecatching - is presumably irrelevant and shouldn't be included? As are the titles and faux-set numbers etc that are included in the final shot of the model... "just the models themselves" I have moving parts in my builds (more coming soon) and I intend to post a video to show that what i've built digitally, actually works IRL... but I'm only planning on putting that into the commentary section and not posted into my entry as that isn't allowed in the rules.
