  1. Nice work! I like the bank vault a lot.
  2. Those were very amusing! Minnesota was my favorite one. Can anyone explain the Ohio one to me? I'm from Ohio and I don't get it.
  3. Awesome! Are you comfortable sharing what you spent to build the physical model?
  4. Oops.... I obviously misunderstood the question!
  5. Awesome! You've managed to keep the spirit and form of the original within a new and sleek build. The Ariel Intruder was one of my first space sets. This is beautiful!
  6. Wow, that is really impressive. I didn't realize how huge it was until you were in a shot with it. I love the movement of the crane, very cool.
  7. Awesome, nice work!
  8. I think it's because they are the most common clone brick. My brother had some of them, so I had fist hand experience. I noticed how difficult the plates were to attach, I noticed that some blocks had weak clutch power. I only had a few tyco blocks, and I actually thought they were better. Also, mega bloks had a fairly grim color pallette and tons of cheap paper stickers. All that added up to a sharp dislike for those bricks.
  9. Yes to the above. If you enjoy Lego, then you might as well enjoy Lego! I did the same thing, 30 something that rediscovered old sets and bought a modular building. I really enjoyed the experience, those modulars are awesome! It's not like you have to go entirely off the deep end, it's just extremely tempting.
  10. I love this old ship. Could you explain the "sail and brick unyellowing"? My white sets are all pretty filthy.
  11. You hit the nail on the head. I like those double height doors a lot. I've never seen them before. I wish Lego would use something like that door on the modern truck sets.
  12. OH.. MY.. GOOD.. NESS! Wow! I was impressed with the city hall details, then I took a look at your entire town layout. It's like a childhood dream turned real. What is even more amazing, aside from the sheer size, is that the interior details are on the same detailed level as the exteriors. It's pretty spectacular. The church is perfection!
  13. Really nice work "niteangel". I enjoyed your polished presentation and wonderful creation.
  14. You will just have to pretend that the minifig can curl up into his small bed. I think your truck looks great. I like the color selection as well.
  15. I'd be curious to see how it looks next to fire brigade.
  16. Awesome! Glad to hear that this tutorial has been beneficial.
  17. ^ Thanks, that is flattering. That was taught to me by a very talented person named Rudi.
  18. Thanks everyone for the advice. I don't think the seller meant any harm at all. I've decided not to worry about it and just move on. Don't worry Peppermint_M, I won't throw the extras away. My brother had a bunch of Megabloks growing up, so i'll just add the new ones right in. I may donate them all if my brother is not interested.
  19. There is no detail inside, just the ghost. I like the mod.
  20. Well, I suppose that is just a lesson learned the hard way. Thanks for the insight guys.
  21. I purchased this lot on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/5-Pounds-of-Lego-Pieces-/301215797859?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=0GJaLiNdfZYa48tUJfLPzCf31YE%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc I thought it was 5lbs of Lego, so I figured up a max bid that I could live with. After paying, the seller wrote and said, oops, I forgot to weigh the container... It's more like 3 lbs. he refunded $10.80 and I accepted that. Now the bricks show up today and I sorted them all. I pulled out 37.9 oz of real lego, and a surprising 12.12 oz of mega bloks. I expected some.... But that seems pretty hefty to me. So now I'm left with just over two pounds of lego. After the adjustment, I paid $17.40 for the bricks, and $9.60 to ship. Thats 27 dollars all together. I have to admit that bums me out. The seller seemed to be honest inhis early email, and polite. Im not questioning his character. Am I overreacting?
  22. Looks really nice. I think you captured the likeness very well. That is a whole lot of detail packed into a small amount of space.
  23. That is a significant improvement over the normal set. I really wanted to like this architecture set when it was released, bu the color scheme, or lack of one, bothered me too much. I assume they were going for the form over any type of realism, but it was a real deal killer for me. Great work! I really hope to see the real mod sometime.
  24. Kings Mountain Fortress was my first REAL Lego set. I vividly remember the night before Christmas, feeling like I was going to burst wide open, hoping that I would find that Lego set waiting for me. I loved this castle, everything about it. My mom made me a crusaders costume for the following halloween, complete with a working helmet. I have the sheild for that costume hanging in my basement still. Anyway, to my dismay I found a whole lot of old grey castle pieces were missing when I dug my Lego bricks out. I wanted to build kings mountain fortress, but instead built (6086) Black Knights Castle instead. Last night I had an idea. Kings Mountain Fortress was not a huge set, I could probably build it again.....just maybe not in the right color. I think the result is sort of interesting. I'm missing the door hinges, but overall, it comes through. Just pretend that it is made of sandstone that has blackened over the years. I had a really nice trip down memory lane following these instructions. Totally different subject, my old bricks are disgusting.... I really need to clean them. 0606140022-02 by mkeller234, on Flickr 0606140022-01 by mkeller234, on Flickr 0606140017-00 by mkeller234, on Flickr
  25. I'm not really into craigslist, but I did need a window air conditioner. While I was at it, I decided to see if there were any good deals on used Lego and stumbled on an interesting one. I noticed a lot of old grey and castle specific walls. The pieces were all loose and the bin looked like it was probably leaking parts for years. I rolled the dice and bought them for $50.00. I am pleased with the result and had a lot of fun in the process. In the end I was able to assemble Knights Castle (6073), a 1980s fire truck, a technic build pack (8035), Two board games (which I am not interested in and will get rid of) and partial Cosmic Comet (6825). After making sure I had enough pieces for the castle, I washed them all. I let them soak in a bowl with a drop of detergent. Then I spun them in a salad spinner and used a compresser to blow water from the cavities. They turned out great! This set must not have been played with very much. The Castle design is a little bit underwhelming, but surprisingly stout. My first castle was King's Mountain Fortress, and it seems like Knights Castle had more of the little gaps filled with bricks. That was a pleasant surpirise. I love the design of the Black Falcon Knights shields. The brick built jail door was a first for me, it's really cool. I'm only missing one shield, it even came with the extra plumes for the knights helmets! My favorite set is the fire truck. It's not much to look at, but it just has that look that takes me back. It looks very "Lego" to me. DSC05106 by mkeller234, on Flickr DSC05117 by mkeller234, on Flickr DSC05116 by mkeller234, on Flickr DSC05115 by mkeller234, on Flickr
