I had to go check out my PS to see where those were, only 2 of them in the whole set as far as I could tell. I didn't realize they were in that set at all when I was looking for them...
-
You can buy them on BnP right now for $0.43 each - can't beat that price!

I ordered those from BnP last week without any problem, at least no problem that they mentioned to me on the phone. We''ll see what actually shows up... I was told the same thing regarding the light blue-grey turntable bases. In my LDD build of cafe corner I used only one 1x4x3 window for each of the 2nd floor window bays. It necessitated a little redesigning of the white pieces involved in the window builds (if I remember correctly the plans call for a white 2x4 plate to be placed underneath the window, I had to move it to the top of the window frame to support the portion of the build that was supported on the rear studs of the 2-deep windows) but as you can see in the render that I posted at the top of the page it looks identical from the outside. The major difference on the inside is that the window is inset by 1 stud - I put a white 1x4 tile to act as a windowsill. I did the exact same thing on the inside of the second floor windows using 1x2 white tiles for the interior windowsills.

I believe 4460b has a hollow stud and the other does not. Generally it wouldn't make any difference in the build, but as in this case, one of them is much easier to buy than the other. I only tried to order pieces that were prohibitively expensive via BL. When I called quite a few of the pieces I was looking for couldn't be purchased: minifigure torsos 1 x 2 dark blue bricks 1 x 4 x 1 dark blue grey fences light blue grey garbage can bottom street lamp white skis (part has changed and I want the one originally in the set) several larger black and dark blue grey plates Yes, you could probably get 75% of the parts at any given time - but you will be paying a lot more than if you shopped around on BL. For instance, 1 x 8 bricks are $0.25 from Pick a Brick but the same piece from Bricks & Pieces is $0.55 - and chances are you could get them on BL from under $0.25 anyways.

I picked up the older station for my son a couple of xmas' ago. It was a steal at the time on Amazon - $65 US. From what I see the new one has the same msrp ( $100 US ) and although it has some cool features - for one I really like the gated entrance - I think I prefer the design of the older one. This was the first large building that my son had in his collection and over the last year he has added the city garage, new fire station, robber hideout from a couple years back, and space center with the launchpad and rocket from the last space wave. The police station is by far his most loved building and is involved in just about every play session he has.

You could try on the Lego customer service site, click the links for part replacement - purchase. The service is called Bricks & Pieces, you can also just call them using the phone number on the customer service contact page - just make sure you have the part numbers you need.

Did you buy the minifigures whole or did you buy the individual parts for them? I considered both routes and decided I would buy the parts for them all individually and end up saving about 50%. I got almost all of the legs direct from PAB ($0.45) or BnP ($0.62) and all of the torsos off of BL ($0.75 - $2.50). I got all of the heads from BnP for $0.23 a piece and all the headpieces except for the top hat and 2 out of production female hairpieces from BnP. Cost per minifigure averaged about $3.00.
-
Yes I did, to the tune of $2.50. I decided from the get-go that I want the minifigures in these sets and, since I wasn't compromising on those at all, it made sense to pony up for the cat that actually came with the set. Funny that of the 13 minifigures for these three sets, the torsos that gave me the most trouble were the plain white one ( I got 2 of them finally ) and the modest looking green overalls with white arms. I'm still trying to find a place to buy that, tough now that I really don't need anything else...

I think you are onto it there. Creator seems to have a multitude of smaller structures so far, almost all of them houses. It's hard to see a medium + sized layout without seeing a few creator sets stashed in there. It would be cool for them to branch out further into more commercial and industrial buildings. One of my favorite city sets from my younger years was a warehouse set, I would love to see a modern version of that.

Nice work LegoSjaak! Is that an 'L' shape? Any chance for a view of the back and of the roof?

Made me spit my coffee haha... Very cool build oz the malefic, I spent quite a bit of time in comic book stores when I was high school age - your pictures really remind me of the goofball events they used to run!
-
Hrm... That's a good question. I kind of doubt that they would create different stickers for use in each build as that would mean that a part or parts would need to be left out. I would anticipate something more generic that would be useful in any of the builds.

That was quick! Much obliged

Unfortunately I did not notice that the blue arches and dark red slopes were available via BnP before I ordered them on BL, I ended up paying $2.50 each for the arches and around $0.95 each for the slopes. I did end up placing a sizable BnP order including the various animals, all of the dark blue pieces aside from the 1 x 2 bricks ( which aren't currently available ) and everything else that I could grab that was more expensive on BL. I blew my timeline ( and budget ) and have now placed 99% of my orders for CC and MS. The only part I didn't order for my CC is the light bley garbage can, for MS I still need to source the blue slopes (weird that none of the 15 vendors I used had these but oh well ), the white umbrella bars, the white hoses ( expensive, I may sub these out ) and the minifigure torso with the green overalls. I worked on the CC and MS orders simultaneously and ended up saving a ton on shipping. I only have 3 orders that haven't invoiced yet but it looks like my CC will end up costing me $295 including shipping and tax and my MS will end up around $210 - though I haven't found a solution to the hoses yet so we will see. I was quite shocked to see that I could get this done so affordably without swapping out major colors and/or elements. Hopefully my PAB order for GG arrives soon so I can start building and stop spending money! Perhaps if a mod reads this they could change the title of this thread to "Bricklinking Green Grocer, Cafe Corner & Market Street"

I think there is a toy fair in a week or two that allows pictures, until then any that you find are very poor quality and unauthorized.

I agree that this particular set has seemed to draw a ton of early interest and speculation. I think everyone who is into modulars has had there interest piqued, this seems like an opportunity for some variety in people's layouts and for those who like to MOC up buildings themselves - it is a great way to get a lot of extremely relevant parts in one box. I'm really looking forward to the next toy show, from what I understand it will allow pictures

Heh, I placed my PAB order on the 8th if I remember correctly. It didn't ship until the 14th which is 8 days ago now, so I am very hopeful that it will arrive this week.

I have to say Alois, you have one my favorite layouts that I have ever seen on EB. Your builds are incredible and look like they belong in a Northern European city. Thanks for the tip on the Tower Bridge set, I hadn't really considered ever picking it up but you have made an excellent point about the quantity of useful bricks and windows... I may have to work it into the budget at some point.

I received my last BL order today! Only thing I am waiting on now is my PAB order and I can build My final BL order was missing 1 lot - (5) 2 x 4 dark green bricks. Store owner responded very quickly and said he will ship them out tomorrow, thankfully. Chances are they will still get here ahead of the PAB order... I have to say I am impressed at the turnaround of almost all of the BL sellers I used, and all but the final one were 100% accurate. I also placed my first ever BnP order this morning for various parts needed for CC and MS as I posted in the active MS thread. I am hoping the parts aren't priced too much more than similar parts via PAB, though most of the parts I did order are very expensive on BL - more than parts of the same type direct from Lego.
-
I just paced my first ever BnP order covering the more expensive parts from CC and MS that are currently available. I'm not trying to build them right away but I have been interested to try out the service and didn't want to pay BL prices for the dark bley birds, dark blue bricks and various other parts. I will report back when I get delivery regarding whether I got the exact pieces I requested or replacements.

There was also an igloo for a monthly mini-build at Lego stores in the winter of 2012-2013, I remember taking my kids to it.
-
That was my original preference, I knew you would come through I think that facade has some cool details that would transfer to Lego very well - the stone blocks at the corners of the building, the arched window tops etc. I'll be looking forward to seeing how you interpret this!
-
Awesome! I didn't notice that at all before, thanks for the info.

That's some good advice from Faefrost and yourself... Is there a way to see the part number in LDD or do you need to search the bricklink catalog for it based on the description?
