  1. Looking at my own pics I thought it would be hard to keep the support perfectly vertical. I added a frame above the supports that will make the whole design much stronger and will keep them perfectly spaced to allow for easy placement and removal of the larger plates sitting on top of the structure. I used 1x14 and 1x16 technic beams with a couple pins in each pair. I also placed a 1x1 brick on the corner stud that was left uncovered by these beams. This could be raised or lowered to suit whatever height desired by just adding slopes or 2x2 bricks underneath the 2x2x10 supports. I am a total newbie with LDD so I am sure someone who is more versed and has actually built layouts like this could come up with something better but your inquiry made me curious to see what I could come up with!
  2. I threw together a few things on LDD after reading this. I think the most simple solution would be to attach the ground to a support system using limited attachment studs like many of the modular floors are attached. Here is a view from underneath: I put a couple 16x16 plates on top to illustrate how they would attach. There would be 4 attachment points for each 16x16 plate, and they would not be on the very edge, they would be 1 stud towards the inside. For added strength I would add some reinforcing plates to the underside of each group of 4 16x16 plates which would correspond to one modular building. Nothing crazy, perhaps just a bunch of 2x6, 2x8, and 2x10 plates at the edges and seams.
  3. That was highly entertaining! I just watched it 3 times in a row, well done!
  4. I would like to volunteer for the reaction force, terrorists must be held to account...
  5. This reminds me of some of the city scenes from the recent Total Recall movie, nice work I'll await more updates!
  6. Ugh that's a bummer Inzane, especially when you are so close... I was very surprised to have the extra parts in my BnP order and even more surprised by which ones - I got an extra tan 1x8 brick, 2 extra dark blue 1x4 bricks and 4 extra dark blue 1x1 bricks, bonus!
  7. I agree with you, of course this is a golden opportunity for them to get us to buy multiples of the same set!
  8. Almost there! Only one order that I am waiting on and I will have everything I need for CC and MS. I received my PAB order yesterday, interesting that BnP orders seem to come with extras ( everybody loves free parts! ) but PAB orders only contain the exact quantities paid for. It is funny to me that the one order I am missing is from BL and was ordered on January 24th, paid for upon invoicing on the 26th - it hasn't even shipped yet, I had assumed that the last two phases of this project would be hung up on the PAB and BnP orders. The seller's terms are very wonky about this, says 5-10 days processing maybe more so it is hard to hold them accountable when the terms are so loose. Anyone who has bought from this BL store probably knows who I am talking about , they have a very high feedback rating and the number of people who have made comments saying that they have fast shipping leads me to believe that purchasers just give the positive feedback for fear that they would get retaliatory feedback if they did otherwise. BL is kind of funny like that... I will post pics and my final cost for this entire project hopefully by the end of the week
  9. Looking great lightningtiger! Lord Biz with the hard hat made me laugh
  10. That is a very cool MOD of the police station. I love how it is efficient in terms of the area it takes up while retaining it's original play features. The wall wrapping around the back with the gates is a very nice touch!
  11. When I saw the title I was hoping the bomb was a dud Nicely built, very true to Kaitan's original. I like how you turned this around on them to make the rebels the baddies!
  12. That is an imposing structure in Lego, the windows and detailing are fantastic!
  13. That looks very nice MatthewH01! I see you used 1x2x3 window on the second floor, I like the look a lot better than the panels. I would add some shelves with bottles on the back wall behind the cafe counter and maybe some bits of food etc behind the counter sneeze guard to make it look like a functioning business. I love how you carried on with the awning colors in the tiled floor. Did you build an interior for the upper floors?
  14. That has a great clean look to the upper floors. I also like your snot work with the hinges on the sewer walls. The only suggestion I have has to do with the exposed plate sides at the ground level, working in some brackets would allow some angular snot work in the same earthtones you have used. I think it would look cool if it wasn't such a straight edge and had a rough look to it. Nice work! Be careful though, you may have a bounty on your head after this act of terrorism
  15. Looks great cei, I really like your interior! Post more pics please when you are done - I'd be very interested to see what you are doing with the upper floors.
  16. Yeah, I don't think that the round top antennae can be purchased direct from Lego anymore. They can be found on BL if you really need to have them. I was not concerned about these at all - they won't be visible and I am making several other changes anyways.
  17. Thanks for posting those pics! I do not have a TH and was unaware of that balcony technique, more options is always a good thing
  18. This is beautifully detailed! Very creative use of pieces for all of the windows, a good variety of construction techniques and some things that I have not seen before. I love the front streetside posts, really reminds me of places that I have spent a lot of time at in France. Love you back alley detailing too, also the front balconies and flowerpots. Seriously nice work!

I am very impressed at the facade you have created here. I would love to see more pics of this if you had the chance to post them.
  20. Thanks MKJosha! Don't worry, he is a bit nippy and is on the search for his armor
  21. I would love to see a closer view of your MOD of the balconies, any chance you could zoom in and post some screenshots? I am very curious to see how those curved railings attach at that angle... Nice work!
  22. That is a great layout but what I really admire is your attitude! I have a almost 3 year old daughter and a almost 5 year old son. My son is fully invested in Lego, I have succeeded in my goal of getting him into them as much as I was as a child - maybe too well. He has his own collection, which surpasses what I had as a child by several degrees. We have a train table that used to house his wooden train layout, now converted to hold his yellow cargo train and the buildings in his collection (police station, fire station, garage, robber hideout and space center). I often find myself fighting the urge to keep the sets intact - he is amazing builder considering he hasn't hit 5 years yet, and he is always pirating parts to make some crazy concoction with an equally amazing backstory. It reminds me of what I loved about Lego as a child - it's not what was purchased, it's whatever my imagination could make it. I try to stay as hands off as possible and let his imagination run wild - after all, I have plenty of my own Lego to tinker with . I am loving the 2 story table you have created. My son's train was a holiday acquisition and it has taken up far too much room on the table for him to play on. More and more he removes parts to play with them somewhere he can spread out. Your solution is ingenious and has opened a lot of new possibilities that I may end up employing. Thanks for sharing!
  23. I checked my mail today and was shocked to see that my BnP order arrived already. I was not expecting it so soon, I am not sure why it would ship so much faster than PAB orders - not that I am complaining! This order contained items from both CC and MS that were too costly or hard to find on BL. Everything came just as I requested, parts are exactly what I was expecting and there were even some extras of several lots. One thing I said I would report back on were the two 80mm hoses from CC, I received the exact part - no cutting required. Perhaps they had gone out of stock by the time other people in this thread tried to order them. One more BL order and the PAB order and I will have everything for an epic building session . Now I just have to figure out where the hell I will display them...
  24. Well said, I think it would be reckless for any toy maker to cross this line these days or face the wrath of 10's of thousands of parents.
  25. My experiences have been similar. I have had pieces missing in only 2 out of about 140 sets and both times I received the part in 2-3 weeks. Recently I had a warped piece from the new City Square set (large curved window from the motorcycle shop), I haven't received it yet but got notice that it shipped about 10 days ago.
