LDD update 4.1.8 released
JopieK replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I've got problems downloading, both in LDD and outside LDD. Other (OS) updates work fine... Did others also experience problems? [update:] Turned out there was still an old LDD.pkg in my downloads folder. Removing that causes the software to work again :) b.t.w was annoying, downloaded for 99.9% and then broke down. -
Question for best-of-both-worlds users / electronics experts
JopieK replied to whosscruffylookin's topic in LEGO Train Tech
That would be a very good idea indeed!!! Tesla's idea you mean! http://en.wikipedia....uctive_charging / http://en.wikipedia....energy_transfer (quote: "The electric energy transmitted by means of electrostatic induction can be utilized by a receiving device, such as a wireless lamp. Tesla demonstrated the illumination of wireless lamps by energy that was coupled to them through an alternating electric field.) See this: http://www.instructables.com/id/Low-Power-Wireless-Charging/ -
I don't think they are there! Only the new tracks are there. Just try LDraw and some appropriate editor (Bricksmith e.g.)

Question for best-of-both-worlds users / electronics experts
JopieK replied to whosscruffylookin's topic in LEGO Train Tech
A Czech guy is making those wheels. Ludo Soete from BeLUG has some samples from him, he showed them to me! A bridge rectifier is of course handy to be able to charge such a motor... but... I heard here that TLG might be coming up with a charing station as well! -
My first NXT robot
JopieK replied to Zerobricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That is a very neat gripper!!! I will try to remember it. I will help 3 FLL teams this season (as robotics guy and computer science teacher). Nice one especially for a start! -
Well I agree, stickers just finish the sets. For us the problem was those 12V trains that had old stickers or missing ones. Your prints and cuts are indeed very nice! You use the same technique that we use in designing the stickers, but we use resin instead of fluid inks to be able to print in white etc on transparent as well.

nice town, although I see some dangerous situations ;) but also a lot of good old 4 stud wide cars etc that are very familiar. I like the blend of "legend sets" and MOC's!!!
-
Starbucks is always nice ;) It is a very nice Kiosk indeed. Simple, elegant. Ours is even more simple, but that also has commercial purposes of course (we used to sell them, the stickers still of course). You just still need SB logo's on your cups ;) The lamps of the Kiosk and mirrors of the car are also very neat b.t.w.

12v 'interference-free' / 'isolated' conducting pieces
JopieK replied to Sokratesz's topic in LEGO Train Tech
It probably has a spool in order to reduce interference with other devices as much as possible. -
Well, 7722 indeed :) sorry about that... was a bit sleepy I guess, but the wheels with red pins are definately from the car of the container terminal.
-
The wheels are from the crane! I'll look up the number. This is a custom set (at least part of it!). Crane set: 7823 Post set: 7819
-
Strange set indeed. Is it not known at Brickfactory and/or Peeron and/or brick set? ask the person for a set number I guess?!! Craigslist seems to be an online marketplace. I think it is not LEGO but an (not so) alternative brand.
-
you are freaky ;) nice door indeed... so tomorrow you will make a bed out of LEGO? Will be another horribly wet day in Holland I think :) Nice citation in your subtitle b.t.w.

Please support my first LEGO Cuusoo Project - "Red Bird"
JopieK replied to chiukeung99's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Haha, windroosje and I are a bit addicted to Angry Birds, so we might want to build some other angry bird ;) the yellow one or something like that. -
Very nice one! Nice stickering too!

apparently not German, I speak German well enough to communicate adequately. I guess it indeed is Dansk, but a quick look at Google: http://en.wiktionary...ays_of_the_week The last picture has: o.a. MA, DI, WO, DO, VR Dutch: Maandag, Dinsdag, Woensdag, Donderdag, Vrijdag, oohw and in the first one Zaterdag (ZA, Saturday) and Zondag (ZO, Sunday). No clue about the others other than: ROT is RED in German, VIN is Wine in French, ZON is Sun in Dutch.

well, we hope to have replacement stickers available at the end of the summer holidays (so around september). We are finally in the process of moving to are new house but I had the equipment finally up and running again ;) So in case you need those in your restoration process just PM me and I'll look up the costs. b.t.w. the 7740 is a very nice train, I have owned one from my child years on :)

Well legodac, you use tiny light bulbs. They are nice, but they have disadvantages. So do LEDs, but they have major advantages too. The first one is the life. LEDs will (if properly used) almost never die. You will need a current limiting resistor of course and make sure polarity is right, but then everything will work and keep working :) of course you have normal LEDs that are 5 mm or 3 mm in diameter. That might be too large for LEGO in some circumstances. That is where SMD (surface mounted device) LEDs come in. There are different versions: from tiny to really really tiny. See also this link: SMD LEDs

I'm trying to do the same with the iPhone/iPad as a research project. As soon as I have results I will post them of course :)
-
Nice job! I also do that with e.g. the Winter Toy Shop but I try to be as non-destructive as possible. I also use SMD LEDs instead of 3mm ones now and then. No offense, but I think you are b.t.w. using too much non-LEGO parts. The electricity poles are nice, but making them more out of LEGO would be even much better!!!
-
Very realistic, especially at such a scale!!! I always use to play AT-10 Tankkiller.
-
haven't seen it yet, even Philohome didn't do that (yet).

Customs charges when ordering from Bricklink
JopieK replied to Vindice's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well, most of the time it will go well. We have ordered 110+ 9V motors and they charged us about 75€ or so so that wasn't too bad :) Ordering under 50€ will go best. A legal trick is declaring the replacement value instead of the actual value (at sparkfun.com they regularly do that). -
I have tried it, LEGO is not suitable for it...
