  1. BeLUG of course ;) We are (Dutch) members of BeLUG too... Well, that is so cheap that that shouldn't be a problem should it? We are members of de Bouwsteen, BeLUG and 1000steine although we frequent the first and second most often), it is nice to also go to events abroad. Membership of the first one is the most expensive, but they all have there specialities. And of course for the online community EB is the best :)
  2. But he gave a nice tip: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=S&catString=124.316
  3. Having an AFOL wife/friend is indeed handy ;) I speak from experience... Welcome at EB! Enjoy your stay.
  4. Here some of my pictures: I also included some jokes etc. Stickers are as accurate as possible. Enjoy it. Rest: see flick!
  5. Take a look here: http://www.pololu.com/catalog/product/1123 And here http://www.pololu.com/catalog/product/1122 What does this have to do with LEGO? And trains?! Connection to LEGO: http://www.pololu.com/catalog/product/1001 It might be a very interesting motor to apply especially in Train situations (Level crossings, point motors, etc). Low power usage and quite strong!
  6. Yups, 25 years ago that was also the solution. I now run all my trains on RC or 9V so don't have that problem anymore but that is the problem and the solution...
  7. Why do you start topics that are already there?! B.t.w. the Maersk ship seems to be being discontinued at the moment, stocks are dwindling. Discontinuation Speculation
  8. <br><br><br><br>They use Arduino pro mini's. Though I preferred them to make an RF -> IR link, they insisted on making their own way of steering the engine (using a non-LEGO motor driver).<br><br>It should work in january. They have until april (that is when they start for their exams) so if they finish in january they can do testing (in primary schools) and do some final adjustments.<br><br>
  9. My students are working on a system with the nRF24L01(+) RF adapters. They are transreceivers so they can include feedback. Is vey handy if you really want to automate your trains (like they want to do and I want to do for myself).

    wintervillage

Can you please deeplink it? Otherwise it takes a while before others can see it. We also have plans to make our snow village even better by including snow on the roofs etc. but this also really looks nice.
  11. W also almost never apply stickers, we most of the time create a reproduction and put that on the model.
  12. About those linacts, we were forgetting that the small and elegant solution for the looks is less elegant for the motor, it will wear the motor out much sooner since it makes the motor peak (draw a lot of current) over and over again. Also it is more realistic that a point goes slower. NXT is of course a solution but it is a way too expensive one. Arduino is much much better therefore.
  13. We should make a wiki for that or something. I also came up with a name LEGuanO :) Currently I do research with students on RF control of LEGO trains with PF.
  14. Barman was kind enough to even make building instructions: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=488878 Greetz Johan
  15. An actuator is an actuator, so doesn't matter, you still need to power it. But there are other solutions like they did with 12V. I use a thread that is hot glued (doesn't leave considerable marks on the LEGO), less convenient though in exhibition setups.
  16. Sorry to steal your image CopMike, but I got this one (actually one just like it): Nice deal at brick link, 'only' 99$. I will open it, hopefully do a review on it, has been a while :)
  17. I think you mean PF train, in general RC trains are the white 7897 ICE train and the green 7898 green cargo train. They have the black/yellow RC controls. The PF RC trains are generally referred to as PF Trains. Well, I like the 12V system, but I think these sets suit me better. About the lights: here is a guy that did it: http://www.youtube.c...h?v=1kqmQkBFSNE And in fact here is a tutorial at EB: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=41847&st=30&p=738640entry738640
  18. Really nice!!!
  19. Really nice! I might consider reusing some of your ideas there ;) Was it at LEGOWorld 2011 in Zwolle, Netherlands? I must have missed you then, although I'm not sure, you are from the States aren't you?! Ah, I understand, he is Dutch, LOWlugger isn't he?!...
  20. always go to the police... also Kassa and Opgelicht might help (Dutch TV programs). I recently helped an American friend with Marktplaats and he just got his stuff... Bt.w. did you pay by bank or paypal? You can also ask the bank to retrieve the money I think in some cases. If you don't really know sellers, the best way is to pick it up. That is what we do with large LEGO lots on Ebay at least.
  21. Well I'm not with you, the LEGO 60€ is very decent and bigger is the same as more space. You could also just get a battery box from your local electronics store of course for C or D cells.
  22. For LEGOWorld 2011 (Zwolle, last October) I just powered the engine lights directly from the battery box. Often you just want to have them on, so no need to use up a precious channel + output (we only have 8 you know).
  23. but is that about the same thing?! Well, we'll just see I guess...
  24. http://frontpage.fok.nl/nieuws/473140/1/1/100/lego-film-in-de-maak.html With google translate: http://translate.google.nl/translate?sl=nl&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=nl&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.filmtotaal.nl%2Fartikel.php%3Fid%3D23854 Hope it isn't old news :)
  25. too bad, vacation is just the week for that and we teachers (my wife and I) can't take leave right before or right after a vacation (although in general we can't take a leave at all, but now and then they allow us). :'(
