  1. make a 2x4 brick mould, heat the track and melt them, pour them in the mould, enjoy your 2x4 bricks... it is hard to do anything useful with the excessive amount of flex tracks I'm afraid...
  2. and after the match they often have the old ones for cheap ;) sometimes nice to be a robotics teacher ;)
  3. It is a world wide contest with Mindstorms robots for youngsters. The junior edition is for primary education, the FLL for ages till 14 and the First Tech Challenge for 14+. Every year they (read: the legendary mr. Scott Evans) designs a new set. Coming year challenge: Natural Disasters. The new game set will be release at the end of august / beginning of september 2013. Today 7 of my older students will be going to prepare for their challenge as coaches of the new season (what a coincidence that you were asking about it ;))
  4. Well, the red cross is an organisation, nowadays a lot of emergency vehicles are not affiliated with the red cross. So it mainly has to do with the fact that the red cross is trademarked to the Red Cross organization.
  5. very nice! I also use Arduino to automate my LEGO trains. But then Arduino + PF. Maybe we should drink coffee together some time and discuss it (I'm in the Zwolle or Nijmegen area)
  6. Nice Philo, the EV3 sure is a nice robot! I also had the chance to play around with it a little bit.
  7. @Doc_Brown: well you are just too hasty in denying my claims. I said TYPICAL batteries. I consider GP as a HQ brand: http://dx.com/s/gp+battery you see their Ni-MH provide 1.2 Volts. Of course one can even buy rechargeable alkaline batteries. So it depends on the kind of batteries just as I stated.
  8. so the important question is: what kind of batteries are you looking at. You know that a typical rechargeable battery only provides 1.2 Volts don't you? A normal Alkaline gives 1.5 Volts. Maybe have a look at the Dealextreme site?!
  9. not bad, not bad! like your new design very much!
  10. but do they use 3D printing, the probably use moulds I think. That is very interesting... they might want to use that as a way of rapid prototyping new parts of course!!!
  11. First suggestion: use a multimeter and see what is going on. Second suggestion: use rubbing alcohol to clean contacts, it won't damage the LEGO.
  12. The lower part of the sticker is doable to create in a vector and the upper part of you happen to get a high resolution scan we can print it for you (solvent on vinyl, high res printer / cutter)
  13. Nevermind (report because of phone error), 3D printing will be mostly supplemental. The invention of a normal printer did not make books obsolete did it (the iPad might after a while, but not the printer)
  14. @waterbrick down: there are drivers for printing it using sketchup, so it is getting easier, my pupils can already do it ;)
  15. The quality is not good enough at the moment, but it is becoming better. I have a good relation with two FabLabs (for my job as a teacher in Informatics). Resin with UV curing has the best resolution at this moment, but of course the ABS printers match the material best.
  16. they also came out in Germany I think...
  17. Very nice! Nice review too I think our nieces will appreciate us buying this boat...
  18. Interesting story and overall a very nice job! maybe next time you could use warm white LED's b.t.w.?!
  19. nice idea those snow imprints from the car... what is the idea of the thief and officer?! ;)
  20. I guess they just mix both colors when letting the molten ABS flow into the mould. Sometimes even normal brick still have a little bit of another color in it because there was still some residue from the previous (differently colored) batch: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Reki/SPECIAL/Misprints/3308-paint-error/arch_1x2x8_dark_bley_misprint.jpg
  21. the inside is not bad, the sticker is very papery though! the mixer is very nice!
  22. you are just amazing when it comes to building trains :)
  23. very nice indeed! Neat solution that is totally LEGO.
  24. @Hoexbroe: very nice indeed... if you need the stickers, just send me a PM with your details and the brick size, hope next weekend I can recreate the inside tour stickers and I already have this old LEGO logo.
  25. very, very nice (oder sehr, sehr schön, Köf is a German train isn't it ;)). This Köf is also in the Bochum Dahlhausen train museum (not too far from the Dutch border), in Dark red but would be more tricky of course. How stable is it b.t.w.?
