  1. I had the same problem, they had completely perished. Bit the bullet and got some shiny ones on Bricklink.
  2. Ha, you made the cilinder heads in the colors of the BMW M logo!
  3. I've made some mods too. I've copied the swivel mechanism from gvo25 for the grabber, though I made it a stud smaller bij using a 2L beam instead of a 3L beam. I've removed the little half pins that block the steering, I've had to move the black cross beam because the wheels hit that when steering sharply now. Finally, I've added an air tank. Since I didn't add any of the compressor / electrical stuff, there was space a plenty. Love this highly customizable set! Todo: add a pneumatic cylinder for raising the cab.
  4. > If it does, then you need an old style pump. If not, your block may be broken. I think it's the pump, these tiny pumps don't "suck" only "blow".
  5. Cool, thanks Blackbird!
  6. I can really recommend upgrading to the grabber from 8443, it is a vast improvement over the stock grabber.
  7. In 8479-2 it is used to steer, until the steering blocks, and then move the car.
  8. You should add the gripper from 8443, it works much better.
  9. Love that video, keep up the work and looking forward to the final version!
  10. I have this set. It is a nice build, but the turning circle is pretty big.
  11. I think somebody already did that for the previous contest, a bit smaller scale though.
  12. I want to mod the grabber to that it uses one of the bigger, standard cylinders. Got it from another set. Did anyone try this modification yet? I can't really find a good mechanism that is compact as gives the grabbers enough grabbing strength.
  13. What are those springs doing on the rear wheel? Since they are not connected to the body, they won't work!
  14. I made some changes to my 8868 too, I recommend copying the grabber from 8443 as the one from 8868 is not really up to any task. I modded the engine to use a chain for driving the fan. https://imgur.com/FyYiZUe,2nA4H1c I also tried to modify the compressor by moving the mounting point of the pump half a stud. Unfortunately, I could not get it to work reliably. Anyone any succes improving the pneumatic capacity of this set?
  15. The 8851 used some rubber bands to make lowering the digging arm more, euhm, say graceful.
  16. Very nice mechanism for the doors, thanks for posting.
  17. Nice, love the trans azure in the interior and the headlights.
  18. Cool, the black / orange one reminds me of the Ariel Atom car. Does it have steering in any way?
  19. Thanks! There is a small error on the page http://technicopedia.com/8216.html, on the wheels. It mentions that the model was the only one in 1995 to use the new wheels, which is obviously incorrect, since the model is from 1997 and the 2129/8205 also used these same wheels.
  20. Don't buy anything at LEGOland, you can get if for cheaper at Dutch stores. Everything is more expensive in Denmark, this goes for LEGO as well. Only buy at LEGOland what you cannot get back home. I got a neat 40115-1 (not very Technic though) a few months ago.
  21. I loved building the 8479, soooooo many gears!
