That's a pretty nice tower, but I would loose the round corners on top, and either stick with the square look or make the whole thing have those 45 degree angled corners. And I would give the guy on top either a bow or a crossbow or at least some rocks he can throw:)

That is one impressive boat. Really good work, lots of details, and it looks very realistic.

Super Realistic AK-47 models from RusArms
emilstorm replied to RusArms's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
They look really good on the figures. I think proportions are good for a standard AK47 in that picture. -
I don't keep boxes, I'm strictly in it for the building:) I did however for a period cut the front off technic boxes and hang them on the wall when I was very young. I don't know if technic boxes still look the same, but back then (90's) they were pretty cool. Some of them had pictures of the alternative models and they had measurements and cool stuff on the pictures:)

I would suggest calling the 2 AKS versions standard AK and make one with the "wood" buttstock, and calling the AK47 RPK :) Can you upload pictures with mini figures? So far it looks like you beat brick arms for the look :) -
MOC: The Temple of the Twin Jaguars

Loving the trees, and that light brown is perfect for jungle terrain, it gives a nice clay feeling to it.- 32 replies

Welcome to eurobricks, I can't see your pictures, but from what I gather they are really nice, so congratulations!

Welcome! Wow, right in the middle of Switzerland :) sorry something sounded funny to me how it was phrased:) I am almost your neighbor to the north, I live in Denmark, so I am more like that annoying kid down the street:) Anyways, I no exactly how you feel, just waiting for my daughter to be old enough for Lego. It will probably be a while, she is 2 months old. I am hoping my wife will let me bring some of my Lego out of the basement when she is old enough for duplo:) I have already bought a lot of friends stuff for her and u think it is softening up my wife for Lego, the other day she said if I ever buy her Lego she would like the Parisian restaurant:) I am just now realizing I must seem like a sad pathetic lonely freak with this incredibly long post about my self in your introduction thread. And I just caught myself doing the same in another thread, so either I am or I really need to sleep! Anyways welcome to eurobricks, it's pretty nice here:)

Nice review :) I always wanted a monorail when I was a kid, but couldn't afford it. My friend had the airport shuttle one and he never played with it, that as*hole :) his parents always bought him all the big sets and they just ended up in this big chest he had in his room. Then one year my family went to Germany and I picked up some fireworks that were illegal were we lived. He saw them wanted to trade them for a suitcase full of Lego from his chest. I agreed to his trade suggestion and ended up with some great stuff, but also a lot off crap that to this day just takes up space. Like those pirate ship hulls. I just now realized I am rambling on and on at it has nothing to do with this awesome review. Oh, know I now, I didn't get a single piece if his monorail. Now realizing that I am 32 years old, and I am already that annoying old man on the bus that tells stories with no point from his youth. Scary...

Nice roof, and the flower bushes are awesome. It's always funny to see new interpretations of old sets, a lot has happened since then :)

Nice temple, really cool tile effect :) the little arch of plates is nice, but doesn't lego make and arch that is pretty much exactly those dimensions ;) I know, sometimes it's just not exactly right :) anyways lots of nice details on the front too.

I normally don't apply stickers on sets because I usually build them once for fun, then take them apart and moc away. For moc's I have been making homemade stickers, and those are applied with a scalpel. I usually hold it up to the brick first, before removing the sticker from it's backing to get and idea of where exactly it needs to sit. Then I find a corner or an edge to align it and apply it carefully without getting air under it. For big stickers I slide a finger or something soft along on top to prevent bubbles.

Which element do you use the most of?
emilstorm replied to Hrw-Amen's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I tend to use a lot of 1x3 and 2x3 plates when building vehicles because I have mainly built 7 wide trucks lately. For any other builds it would probably be 1x2 bricks and 1x2 plates. I have just taken apart and sorted out a couple of houses and ended up with tones of those. -
I have used a brand names Citadel Base, its extremely durabel and really good for detail. I have often applied it with the tip of a needle for details where even the tiniest brush would be to small, and even those little details are near impossible to remove. It is the kind of paint you normally use for those little role playing game figures, and I would imagine any such kind of paint would give a good result. And they come in pretty much any color. They are a little pricy, but I would say they are worth it.

Has anybody tried chlorine on white minifigs with print? I have a lot of those 80's doctors and EMTs that are almost brown now, and it would be a shame to lose the print.

Super Realistic AK-47 models from RusArms
emilstorm replied to RusArms's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I like them, though I must say the standard has more of the proportions of an RPK. The light and police versions have much better AK proportions. Apart from that they look pretty great, I really like the buttstock of the standard versions, much better than the Brickarms one. And the grenade launcher is very true to the real deal. -
It's a tie between city and castle. I'm born in the year of The Lord 1982 and remember some awesome castle sets from about 87 to the mid 90's. From then on it went down hill in my opinion. To many wizards and those awful fright nights. I was more for the good old fashioned crusaders and black falcons, and definedly the forestmen. I also lost a little bit of interest in city sets in the mid/late 90's, probably when mocing really started for me:) I just recently dug out my old castle minifigs and started organizing my armies again, feels great:)

I have just sat down and rearranged about 50 old minifigs that had been totally mixed around, so I have it fresh in my fingers :) for the hard ones I rotated the arm back and up, then rotating it downwards while levering it out. I took the hands out first. Putting them in is more about force than technique. For the hard ones I lay them down on a table with the whole up and just press it in really hard. If it needs a little extra I put a cloth or something soft on top and bang it in gently with something hard.

Erasing printing on soft rubber parts
emilstorm replied to Bob De Quatre's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I recently, by an unfortunate accident, removed some prints from minifigs by soaking them in toilet bowl cleaner. After one night in that stuff I could rub it off with my fingers. But I don't know how the rubber will respond to it, my fingernails were blue for a couple of days after.... -
For a fig to grab a sword this way the tubes have to be rather long, but a few mm can probably be taken off, I made this pretty quick. For longer utensils where you can leave some space between the hands they can be much shorter. Unfortunately the colors available for the tube limits the use of this technique a bit. Blue is the only one that comes close to matching other Lego colors, at least of the ones I had. Maybe the old grey ones will do ok too.

I just stuck the hose in the arm-hole of the torso :)
-
So I sat there with a random minifig and some blue Pneumatic hose. And this is what came from it. I know his arms are really long, but it is just to show yhe general idea. Hope you like it

Very good, and very Arctrossy I love the front and particularly the backside of the cab.
