  1. Look, A lot of people bash on the Dol Guldor Battle set, but I think it's VERY cool for display. When you get all 3 sets together (this, DGA & the new WKB) it will make for quite a nice diorama. The black trees from Mirkwood Spiders set even look great as add-ons with it. Dol Goldur Battle, Ambush & Witch King Battle are a MUST in my opinion. The Goblin Kings set ... the only reason I want it would be for the 3 dwarf minifigures. It's a cool set but not one I would leave out for display. Nor is it one of the scenes I really care for in the book or film. As far as when to get sets ... if you want DOS sets, you'd better do it between now and October!!! Once the BotFA sets hit, I can assure you they will be GONE (DGA, DGB, MEA & Lake Town). As for LotR wave 2 sets, you'd better do it between now and Christmas, because I don't think they will be around after then. I have a feeling we will see some amazing black Friday sales & other holiday incentives to move the sets.
  2. There in NO good reason for them to NOT release another wave of 4-6 sets, but there are plenty of great reasons for them to actually do it. And we here are just one of those reasons. Lego does not seem like a company that doesn't finish what it started. To leave out MAJOR characters, beasts and factions falls on them alone... and leaves this license FAR from finished. Lord of the Rings is FOREVER weather there is a movie or not. The books were there LONG before a marketing campaign and fandom runs SO deeply, even MAJOR music bands like LED ZEPPELIN & RUSH have written many songs about it. The desire for them to make this last wave happen will NEVER go away. They can either get it over with now, or be nagged endlessly until they do finish it up properly... at least in the same way they represented The Hobbit. FINISH WHAT YOU STARTED LEGO!
  3. Nope... It's still on their "Posts to page" I have. But I can't be the only one. We have to unite here and work together. Just me posting to their wall or sending a message doesn't do much. I'm just 1 person. But if all the fans here did the same thing and "like" each others posts, then maybe the admin will alert a superior who might be able to put in a good word. AI'm doing my part, vocalizing that at least I would love 1 more wave....
  4. I will get all the sets day of release. But the only set I'm really disappointed in is the Battle of the Five Armies. This set NEEDS army figures. If this is truly the set, then like I've said before, there should be an add-on army set. Another WTF moment like the many that riddle the Lord of the Rings line.
  5. This is what I really want to see in the back of the instructions: IN 2015...
  6. EPIC! I'm going to post to their Facebook page...
  7. Wait a minute! Look between Azog and Thorin right under the Eye ... those aren't eagles, those are BATS!!! I want a big Lego bat damnit. Regardless, like I said ... there should be an add-on set to TBotFA that includes armored Dwarf, Elf & Orc warrioirs and a second Dale building structure to combine with the other one. Because if there was this set I think there would be a LOT less complaining. Maybe we'll be surprised with one. I REALLY hope we get 2 poly bags ... Iron Hill Dwarf & Armored Elf Warrioir or Armored Orc Warrior I will say this, I am WAY more happy with the overall Hobbit collection than I am with Lord of the Rings. I would say for my liking I am at 4.5 stars out of 5, because honestly, the Five Armies set is the ONLY set out of all of them I am really not happy with. Lord of the Rings ... no Balrog, armored Witch King, Fell Beast, Eowyn, Faramir, Gondor Soldiers, Treebeard, Minas Tirith or Osgiliath structure sets - This just makes me SO sad.
  8. You know what would fix all this ... 1 more set like MEA ... an add-on to The Battle of the Five Armies set! 2x Dwarf Warriors, 2x Elven Warriors, 2x Armored Orcs, Bolg & a structure to add to the bigger set. $30 - everyone is happy. BAM! bam-bam!! Who knows, maybe a set like this will magically appear since the actual BotFA set so SO lacking. We know sets have magically appeared before. <edit> You know, after all is said and done, the DGA, DGB & WKB combine to make quite a nice set! I even added the Mirkwood Spiders set trees to it on the sides. I can't wait to finally add WKB to it.
  9. Meh... I still think/hope that we will get one last LotR wave. Will it be everything we all want? Who knows. There have been quite a few ideas thrown around here that 3 to 5 sets could make EVERYONE happy. And most don't have to be huge expensive sets (the Balrog, Treebeard, Prologue ... brick built characters & a few mini figures). Something, ANYTHING would be better than nothing! I think the sets were planned and ready to go but the timing of the Hobbit film split nonsense, then the huge effort they put into The Lego Movie (which even pushed back Star Wars sets). I do agree that if we don't see an add in the sets or any info in the retailer catalog, then it's over. But again, it just doesn't make any sense to me to leave things off like that. I hope Lego realizes how much we all love the theme and want a chance to complete out collections. And that the remaining stuff we want would be the best selling, because most of it it the main meat & potatoes of the Trilogy.
  10. First, thanks for posting the pictures! I might be in the minority, but I like all the sets except BotFA, but we cant see the whole set. It looks like there is a building or some sort of structure to the right. Witch King Battle ... perfect! Attack On Lake Town ... awesome add-on to the Lake Town Chase, but why another Bard & Tauriel here? That's my only gripe. Battle of the Five Armies ... We can't see the whole set, so I can pass judgement yet, but this set is a big let down because of the minifigure selection. No BOLG??? Another Legolas & Azog? Should have been a dwarf warrior & Bolg. I don't mind Bard here because it's the SDCC version. The Lonely Mountain ... I like it a lot. I really wasn't expecting more. Maybe another minifigure or 2, but all in all a very cool set. So my main complaint is the minifigure choices! And I can't wait to see the rest of TBotFA set.
  11. I will hound them & annoy them until we have the sets or they flat out say the line is done. If you want more sets, email them and tell them what you want. Post to their Facebook page the same thing. Tell them exactly what you want. Keep telling Lego we want one more wave of LotR sets!
  12. Ah ... the coolness we will still hopefully get:
  13. Awesome work... We might actually get something VERY similar, because in season 3 of the Nick TMNT show, they will be driving this:
  14. 2015 Nick TMNT season 3 Turtle Van: This will make for a most excellent set ... If Lego makes it, I will buy it.
  15. Yeah... but at least we got almost all the main characters. I really hope the Marvel set in the winter wave is the other warbird. It can come with red suit Rocket, Yondu & Korath. BAM!!!
  16. I could live with that... And Treebeard (-:
  17. I think we forgetting about the fact that ONLY one more wave, of like 5 sets, is really all that's needed to fill the holes in the line to round it out and make it complete. Comparing it to evergreen licenses is a moot point because I don't really think anyone wants or expects LotR to be ongoing. We just want the opportunity to round out and complete the LotR theme. Lego is a big enough company where they can release whatever they want. We KNOW these sets have been designed by them (the video game is proof). The movie tie-in would be the release of a complete blu-ray/dvd boxed set, or even the final Extended Edition blu-ray/dvd sets. So summer or fall of 2015 would be the perfect opportunity to give us a final LotR wave.
  18. The reason why, at least for ME is that 1. he IS a very crucial & important character in LotR for me personally. I absolutely LOVE the Ents. And 2. the fact that a generic (Birch) ent was included in the Orthanc set and NOT TB... that just makes absolutely no sense. Hence why everyone simply expected a stand alone Treebeard set. I wouldn't mind getting an Oliphaunt either ... don't get me wrong. Lynx ... haha, you should rewatch! Most people mistake my ID for the band and have no idea about that movie. I agree, and hope this may be the case.
  19. Fives is right. There is 1/4 the merchandise for The Hobbit than there was for LotR. BUT, The Bridge Direct REALLY dropped the ball with their figures. That whole situation was a mess from the get-go. That being said, TBD has PROMISED their Smaug figure will be released late this year. Considering how they got out all the rest of the dwarves they showed at past conventions, I wouldn't hold my breath. From TBD Facebook page:
  20. Damn, you're right... duh - blonde moment. True... especially the scene where WK says "feast on his flesh"... wings are very very similar!
  21. "probably won't be getting very many more" To me means a few more sets are coming. Like 1 wave. Like 3-5 sets. And as long as they address the key holes we've been bitching and moaning about getting over the last year, I will be a very happy fan. I don't want the LotR line to go one forever. I just want 5 sets: 1. Prologue ... Sauron (brick built like GotG Groot or X-men Sentinel), Elendil & Isildur NO STRUCTURES - $13 2. Treebeard Awakens (ala Shelob Attacks) Treebeard (brick built), Merry, Pippin & Grishnakh NO STRUCTURES - $25 3. The Balrog (brick built ala TMNT 79105 Robot Rampage), battle damaged Gandalf, Moria Orc Archer NO STRUCTURES - $30 4. Witch King Showdown with Witch King of Angmar, Fell Beast, Eowyn in armor, Merry in Armor, small wall or gate of Minas Tirith - $40 5. Osgiliath Over Run (ala Castle 70403 Dragon Mountain) with Faramir, 2x Gondor Soldiers, 3 horses, Gothmog, 2x Orcs, Ringwraith & Fell Beast, Osgiliath Ruins - $75 - - - - - As for my opinion on the price of the Smaug set ... Get over it!!! LOL. Seen the prices for the 2014 SDCC Lego exclusives? A stand alone mini-figure or mini-rig going for $250+ The cost of EVERYTHING has gone up. Have you bought cheese or meat lately? Gas? Been to the drive thru and it's like $10-15 just for your meal??? Smaug is BIG and has multiple unique molds. I'm pretty sure making him ate up most of the cost of this set. I'm not worried about a $130 set that gives us a badass Smaug - he will surely fetch at least half that alone on the secondary. I honestly don't see where Hobbit fans can get upset with what has been released OR the Smaug set. Nearly EVERY key scene in the Hobbit films to date has a nice representation in a Lego set. I am MORE than happy to have it all. Sure, they might not be quite perfect, but THE SAME CANNOT BE SAID OF LORD OF THE RINGS. Just my 2 cents ... not pointing fingers! May we all be blessed with 1 more key Lord of the Rings wave of excellent Lego sets!
  22. Smaug looks great! I do think the price is a bit steep and 7 minifigs should be included, but after seeing the actual display - Smaug is BIG. The pillars and the forge look to be taller than Moria set pillars & door, and yet Smaug stands just as tall. I'm happy with the set, & I'll be getting it the first day I can.
  23. Why just 1 reveal though? I was expecting either all 4 sets to be revealed or at least this set and the Bell Tower set as there are no spoilers there either...?
