  1. Target only carries items that fit in their current set which changes every 3 months. Doesn't matter what it is, if it's not in the current set it's clearanced no matter how new it is. You can't judge anything by Target. Heck, they just clearanced out ALL of the Yoda-boxed SW sets and only have the Vader-boxed sets now. Barely any TMNT or even Lego Movie sets. There are well over 1 million people here on Long Island with about 20 Targets within driving distance from me. This is how it is at all of them. Some Walmarts here still have the DoS wave, some don't. Most TRUs here have LotR wave 2 and both Hobbit waves, with the odd MoM set here and there. In some places they have sold well and been restocked a few times. In others, they have not. I do expect a full showing from all the stores with this last Hobbit wave, especially the Smaug set. I'm not too worried about getting that wave. It's LotR wave 3 I'm concerned with.
  2. Wow ... holy shit that's epic. Awesome work. Can't wait to see it when it's finished.
  3. I don't see any problem that the DOS sets aren't in the 2014 catalog. Those sets have been out for a long while now. I also understand why the 4 new sets aren't in there. PJ did change the 3rd film's name way after that catalog was released. Good for Lego to not show anything until it's ready. My money is on a big SDCC reveal. Heck, we might even get surprised with some LotR wave 3 sets No one knows what the licence time frame or details are other than Lego has them. They've recently sent out emails stating that the licence is still ongoing. Anything anyone says outside of Lego press release is pure speculation. But if I was to put a guess on it, when the Star Wars 7 sets come, that will be when we stop seeing LotR & Hobbit. I intend on buying the entire wave day of release. Depending how nice the sets are, I may purchase duplicates as gifts for the holiday season.
  4. What leads me to believe a 3rd wave is/was imminent was the inclusion of the generic no-name ent with Orthanc. TLG knows how iconic Treebeard is. Heck, he has 2 levels of the game dedicated to him alone. If Orthanc was to be the end of the LotR theme, Treebeard would have been included in that set. Otherwise, it makes absolutely no sense what so ever to spend the time & money designing the 2nd ent. We all knew for sure at that point that a Treebeard set is/was ready for release. Yes, indeed. Keep emailing them, calling them, post to their Facebook wall - keep asking for info on more LotR & say you want more LotR!
  5. Yup. Nailed it right here.
  6. Well, that is a small positive thing that the license is still ongoing. I have not received a response to my last email that I sent about a week ago. I basically said how I felt the line is being handled, or mishandled rather, how it currently feels very incomplete when compared to how well-rounded the Hobbit sets are, made 5 set suggestions and gave my reasoning from them specifically. (Balrog, WK/FB/Eowyn, Treebeard, & 2 Gondor themed sets ala HD/UHA). I'm surprised I didn't get the usual automated response. I know in the long run what I have to say means little to nothing. But maybe, just maybe ... We can sway them to throw us one last bone.
  7. That's awesome. Thanks for posting. I just got the Lego X-Men set, and after I built the Sentinel all I could think was ... PERFECT size & articulation for a brick built Sauron or a mini Treebeard... then I see this using the same joints as on the Sentinel - hahaha too funny
  8. Minas Tirith???
  9. If you guys want more LotR themed sets, email Lego and let them know what you want. Don't be passive, don't stay silent. It's a small tiny LONG shot, but it's better than nothing.
  10. I just got the X-Men set and I must say I am impressed. Very cool set indeed. Once I got the Sentinel built ALL I could think about is that it would be the perfect way (and size) to make a brick built Sauron! PERFECT. Honestly, if they are indeed done with the LotR theme . . . it is quite an EPIC failure on so many levels. 1. Since the line was announced - EVERYONE wanted and expected a Balrog set. What a lost opportunity to truly make something special for both Lego & fans alike. Would have sold great and would have made a lot of fans very happy. 2. The inclusion of Mr. Generic Ent with Orthanc led everyone to believe & expect a Treebeard set. If they don't do a Treebeard set - WTF didn't they include him with Orthanc? Seriously, how stupid can you be? What a slap in the face. Hell, my 65yo MOM wants a Treebeard set! 3. NOTHING from Gondor, no Faramir, no Eowyn (strongest & only non-Elf female character of BOTH trilogies) ... we got a Mouth of Sauron (2 minutes of screen time only in extended edition), but no Sauron, no Witch King, no Fell Beast. Ridiculous. Inexcusable. Yet they complain about sales!!! Like it's our fault. Maybe if they put out the product most everyone wanted from this theme, we wouldn't be talking about poor sales. I mean, seriously, who decided on the set choices for this theme? Wave 2 SUCKED! No action or play appeal really at all that is film related. Lets put out Rivendell (nothing happens here, great action appeal), HALF a gate, and a ship with some characters that were BARELY in the film, and while we're at it, lets IGNORE EPIC SCREEN MOMENTS, CHARACTERS & BEASTS. Oh yeah, and lets put out the Wizard Battle even though we're going to put the whole damn tower out... LotR wave 1 - EPIC. Wave 2 - FAIL. The Hobbit - excellent proper representation of a trilogy, even though less liked than LotR & riddled with controversy. Limited theme with limited waves/sets ... make ONLY the most ICONIC environments, characters & beasts. If it sells, then put out the fluff. Not the other way around. IF LotR is done - then LEGO - YOU SUCK!!! Thanks for the halfass'd, incomplete LotR collection.
  11. The last set I have to get to complete my LotR collection is the Black Gate, but I need 2 to make a true gate ... so I've been waiting for a deal like that but there are no Fred Meyers out here on Long Island.
  12. Whatever the reasons, the LotR part of the license had such a KILLER first wave and such a weak 2nd wave. None of the sets from wave 2 blew me away the way wave 1 did. Wave 2 feels more like an after thought wave. The whole collection feels so incomplete without Gondor, Fell Beast/WKOA, the Balrog & Treebeard. A good analogy would be getting Star Wars sets without Endor, the Rancor, A-wing, Boba Fett & Slave 1... but getting Prince Xizor, his Virago and Yoda's house... It makes absolutely no sense. Like I've said before, I really hope we get one more LotR wave that addresses the gaping holes in the collection.
  13. I'm still hoping for a wave 3! Keep hitting Lego by email, Facebook, etc... 1. Treebeard ~ Treebeard (brick build), Merry, Pippin, Grishnakh 2. The Bridge of Khazad dum ~ The Balrog (brick build), Battle Damaged Gandalf, 2x Moria Orc Archers 3. Witch King Showdown ~ Witch King of Angmar (battle armor), Fell Beast (molded), Eowyn (battle armor, hair & helmet), Merry (battle armor) 4. Osgiliath Over-run (army builder) ~ Osgiliath ruins add-on, Gothmog, Madril, 2x Gondor Ranger, 3x Mordor Orc 5. Defence of Osgiliath ~ Large Osgiliath ruins complex with collapsing walls, Ringwraith, Fell Beast (molded), Guritz, 2x Mordor Orcs, Faramir, Gondor Rangers, 2x Gondor Soldiers 6. Shop/shared exclusive ... The Prologue ~ Sauron, Elendil, Isildur, Gil-Galad
  14. Got Shredder's Lair, T-Sub and Karai Bike ... GREAT sets. I'm not really liking the T-Rawket, gonna pass on that one but next up the Mutagen Chamber. I can't wait for more sets! I REALLY can't wait for a Lego TMNT game - that's gonna be sweet. The movie sets look ... WAY better than the movie, haha. I'll decide when I see them in person.
  15. Yeah, given the fact that Gandalf has been in SO many sets, it's really shocking that Glamdring wasn't just molded and included to begin with. Just an FYI, Gandalf throws away his hat in Balin's Tomb. By the time he actually faces the Balrog on the Bridge, his hair DOES look like the Lego Thorin hair sculpt... Of all the sets we really want, the Balrog is my absolute #1! Now, there's an idea, what are your top 5 most wanted sets? Mine are: 1. The Bridge of Khazad Dum (brick built Balrog, BD Gandalf, 2 Moria Orc Archers w/new helmet or new print) Just for shits n' giggles: 2. Treebeard Awakens - Brick Built Treebeard, BD Merry & Pippin, Grishnakh 3. The Witch King Showdown - Molded Fell Beast, Witch King of Angmar, Eowyn in armor, Merry in armor, BD King Theoden, the King's horse, and either Guritz or Gothmog 4. Defense of Osgiliath - This could go 2 ways. Either with Gondor Rangers in TTT scene, or the attempted retake scene in RotK... Molded Fell Beast (works for both), Black Rider, Faramir, Madril, Gondor soldier/ranger, Gothmog, 2 Mordor Orcs 5. Army Builder set for the above set. Bonus level set #6... Mumakil Attack! - Brick Built Oliphant, Mumakil Driver, Haradrim Soldier, Easterling, Gamling w/horse, Rohirrim w/horse Epic dream set #7 ... The Prologue - Sauron, Elendil, Isildur, Gil Galad, Prologue Elf Soldier, Prologue Numenor Soldier, 2x Orcs
  16. Agreed. They could do 2 Moria Orc Archers, and battle damaged/dirty Gandalf (with a new hairpiece like Thorins, and GLAMDRING), Boromir & Frodo. I actually thought of this too. The peak ruins could double as an add-on for Osgiath as well, if they release that.
  17. No emotions here. I get what you are saying and I even AGREE with some of it, but I don't think it's as dire or dramatic as you make it sound. I've been a LotR fan a LONG time. I went through the Toybiz cancellation of Epic Trilogy waves 3 & 4 (character list was released for these 2 waves), the cancellation of Art Asylum Mini Mates wave 3 (finalized figures and new packaging shown), the cancellation of Gentle Giant's Animated Maquette line (at least 2 more sculpts were confirmed completed), the cancellation of AOME... I'm no stranger to getting screwed when it comes to collecting LotR. Lego seems to play by their own rules and can afford to do what they want, unlike Toybiz, Art Asylum, Gentle Giant, Play Along, etc... Great examples of this are the countless odd sets they just put out for seemingly no reason other than they're ultra cool, like The Simpson's, Back To The Future, Ghost Busters, heck, even Orthanc! Lego knows there is still a demand for some key LotR sets. The Balrog, The Witch King & his Fell Beast, Gondor/Minas Tirith stuff, Eowyn & Faramir, Treebeard, Sauron himself... All of these will sell. We know this, they know this. I have a strong feeling we will see a few more sets before all is said & done. That's all I'm saying. No foolish hope here...
  18. Must be local for you. I live in one of the most densely populated areas in the US. I have access to DOZENS of Walmarts, Targets, TRU, all within a 30 minute drive. With the exception of Star Wars, Lego City, Chima, Ninjado & Lego Movie, the aisles were clearanced of ALL other stock. They actually remain empty right now. Sure, there is an odd set here and there. TMNT has a brand new wave hitting any time now. Once it does, sets from wave 1 will be phased out. They're probably just keeping the space for the new sets. Like I said before, there is no new Hobbit movie right now, there is no new LotR wave right now. But there is a sh*t load of other new Lego product hitting shelves now. Places like Target and Walmart have limited space for Lego and HAVE to stay current. Just because they don't have it on shelves doesn't mean they aren't selling it. I just checked both Target.com and Walmart.com... it's ALL there. Regular pricing too. Heck, Walmart even lists Orthanc! I agree there is cause for concern that we might not get a third LotR wave. But lets not be hasty! No need to be so dramatic about it. I personally think we will get a third wave and that circumstances have prevented/delayed the initial sales plan (like the shift of 2 to 3 films, film 3 moving to a December release, the Lego Movie craze). Maybe they changed what sets they originally intended to release after wave 2 sales, researched fan reaction & what fans currently want to put together a stronger wave. It can be dozens of reasons for the long wait. But we know one thing for sure... We are DEFINITELY getting more Hobbit sets, this is confirmed. And this is GOOD. Lets wait until SDCC or even the fall catalog for more definite information for LotR. If by that time we have none, then we'll have a better idea of what to expect.
  19. First off... TLG hasn't reported ANY sales numbers. So anyone saying sales were poor for this line is purely speculating. Unless TLG comes out and states how the line is performing... just STOP IT. Seriously. Secondly, Lego has a TON of new product hitting shelves this spring. And I mean a LOT. You have multiple new Lego Movie, Star Wars, Marvel/DC, TMNT... the list goes on. Did y'all see the catalog? Then there's the summer product releases, etc... Again, stores like Target & Walmart have only so much space dedicated to Lego product. They didn't JUST clearance LotR & Hobbit. They clearanced all 2013 product to make room for all that new product coming VERY soon. How else would they stay current with product? Don't freak out just because they clearanced some recent sets. That's NOT a sign that the line is doing good OR bad. That's just how it is these days with ALL toy lines. The BEST thing y'all can do is continue to support the line. Pick up the sets you are missing or on the fence with. Pick up the new Hobbit sets when they hit. Get some sets for friends as gifts. Keep jumping on their Facebook, tell them you want more LotR sets. Email them continuously. I really don't think we will hear anything either way until at least SDCC. I would even give it until this fall for some sort of announcement. I think we will get at least 1 more wave.
  20. What is full price for you in USD?
  21. I know this isn't on topic with future sets, but the Barrel Escape 79004 is on sale for only $25 this week at Toys R Us in the US. That's a great price if you've been holding out or on the fence. \m/-_-\m/
  22. Target clearances everything once they do resets. They tend to carry what is ultra current & hip. Quick cash grab mentality. They do this with all movie product. Same thing with Walmart. If they were disappearing in TRU or The Lego Shop with no restock, then I would worry. But there's nothing going on. They only put 4 sets out for DOS, lol. It's not like there's a ton to choose from to begin with. The wave 2 LotR stuff has been out almost a year... and we've already discussed how lack-luster that wave really is, and again it too was only 4 sets. This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that Target and Walmart have gotten them off shelves. It's not like these are dedicated toy stores to begin with. We KNOW there are at least 4 more sets coming for Hobbit. The Smaug will sell. If the other sets are good, they will sell too. And TLG KNOWS what we want from a last LotR wave. Relax. Catch up on your collections and enjoy the break for your wallet while you can.
  23. I agree with the set decisions for Hobbit being right on track. It has a very good well rounded offering for what is in the movies thus far. I also agree about the DGA, DGB & MEA. They definitely could have been better. Especially MEA - thet should have been the water gate. But they're not that bad. LotR Wave 1 was EPIC. However, wave 2 was SO weak. The choices of sets felt to me like they should have been a farewell wave AFTER all the other cool stuff came out. Like a "hey everyone, here's a little afterthought treat for you die hards". How we have a Mouth of Sauron and NO Sauron or Witch King of Angmar is WAY beyond all logical thought! When I think about Return of the King, I'm not thinking about the Priate/Corsair ship. I have not and will not get that. It doesn't even go along with the rest of my sets because I have NOTHING from Minas Tirith!!! I don't have anything for the Black Fleet to show up to rescue. WASTE. The Black Gate really, although it is a very cool set, it should have been a wave 3 set. Also, we shouldn't have to buy 2 to make a true gate. I get the sales thing, but to me or the average parent buying it for their kid it's a deterrent. I have to buy 2 to make a true gate??? That's just BS right there. Make the set $10 more and include the second tower. The Rivendell set is great, but it's for AFOLs only really. Seriously, kids are not thinking about playing out the Council of Elrond when they think about LotR. The Wizard Battle, I get it but it's really a waste of time because of the Orthanc set. Ah, The Orthanc set... epic indeed. I have it displayed proudly in my living room. But for the price, I am underwhelmed to say the least when I compare it to... the Ewok Village (like 20 minifigures, lol) or the likes. First off, NO TREEBEARD, but some generic ent? That is like saying, we have a Treebeard set coming and it's important enough for him to be separate from this set. But yet we have no Treebeard set. That's a HUGE WTF moment right there. If they weren't/arent gonna do a stand alone Treebeard set, he should have been included with this and that's a slap in the face to the fans. Secondly, It should have had AT LEAST as many minifigures as Helms Deep, so at minimum an additional 2 (to make it a total of 7). How about that fat Orc Captain that tells Saruman "we need more wood for the fires" and Saruman replies "burn the forest!" Or the Warg Captain... or even a few more Uruk Hai with the white hand armor? I don't want to hear about poor sales or any of that bullsh*t. Put out the product EVERYONE wants! The iconic beasts and characters from this franchise and it will sell. Get the core stuff out FIRST, then reward collectors with the likes of The Mouth of Sauron, Council of Elrond and the Corsair. Hell, Toybiz didn't even get to the Corsair (the PJ character figure was slated for Epic Trilogy wave 3 which never hit) and they did pretty much EVERY character. Main/major action sequences: FotR: Prologue Battle, Black Riders/Weather Top, Balin's Tomb/Mines of Moria, Balrog/Bridge of Khazad Dum, Amon Hen TTT: Balrog/Bridge of Khazad Dum (yeah, so epic it's in 2 FILMS), Riders of Rohan night attack, Warg Attack, Treebeard Encounter, Osgiliath Ruins/Fell Beast, Helms Deep, Ent Attack on Orthanc (No Treebeard though) RotK: Attack on Osgiliath, The White Rider against the Winged Riders, Shelob Attacks, The Tower of Cirith Ungol (yeah, that battle between bad guys), The Seige of Minas Tirith/Grond, The Witch King Showdown, Oliphants, The Black Fleet/Corsair, The Black Gate The Hobbit has WAY MORE of a well balanced representation than Lord of the Rings, which to me is just wrong in so many ways. LotR IS the reason I started collecting Lego, period. I like Hobbit too but LotR is where my heart is. So if we DON'T get the Balrog (I don't care if it comes with anything else), Witch King Showdown (with Fell Beast, Eowyn & Merry), Treebeard Encounter (Merry, Pippin & Grishnakh), And something with Faramir wether it be Osgiliath/Gondor Rangers or Minas Tirith/Gondor Soldiers... well, that would be such a lost opportunity for both Lego & collectors as well as the most epic failure of a license behind The Bridge Direct.
  24. TBD had all of the Dwarves made for the 3-3/4" line only, not the 6" line. And all they released was a 3-3/4" 5-pack which had only 1 new figure in it (Thranduil). The rest were repacks from TABA. In the 6" line, they only released Azog, Radagast & Legolas (again). That was IT. 2 new figures. Now they are looking into getting out the rest of the 3-3/4" figures somehow, maybe in specialty stores like comic shops and online etailers (ala EE, BBTS, etc.) Don't get your hopes up for any other figures. We hardly got an offering for DOS, and it's already an uphill battle to get the rest of the finished figures... I'll believe TBD when I have product in my hand.
