  1. I whole heartedly disagree with you. I simply cannot state this enough. Sauron IS the Lord of the Rings and the main catalyst for the entire book/movie trilogy (& even the Hobbit movies), has the most badass armor and is seen in both trilogies sporting it. EVERYONE I know would buy this, everyone. Even dudes that aren't into Legos! Treebeard... One of my favorite characters. I would have to get at LEAST 4 sets of him alone because my wife, sister and mother all want their own! Many of my friends (who can barely be considered AFOLs) each want one. Everyone has been so disappointed he wasn't included in Orthanc and thus EXPECTED him in a stand alone set. I ain't got no time for deciphering and brick linking all the proper pieces, and neither does anyone else.
  2. What we need: Sauron - Prologue ... Sauron with Elendil & Isildur and the rock where Elendil dies, Isildur cuts the ring... $15 Treebeard - with Merry, Pippin & Grishnakh... $20-25 The Balrog - with small breaking bridge build, battle damaged Gandalf & Moria orc archer... $50 (like the Armies of Middle Earth Bridge of Khazad Dum set) Then either the Ideas style Minas Tirith or a Helms Deep style Minas Tirith (wall build & gate) which would give us the Fell Beast, Armored Witch-king, Eowyn, Faramir, Denethor, Gondor Soldeirs, Merry & Pip in armor and whatever else... See, that's not much to close the biggest gaps, it's realistic and lets face it... not too big a risk as it's what all the fans have been wanting since day one.
  3. I personally feel that Minas Tirith will not be approved as an ideas set, but it will however be released as either a UCS or in a similar fasion to Helms Deep/Uruk Hai Army as part of a wave of sets. Quite a few LotR sets are gaining support on the Ideas site, Minas Tirith hit 10k, now we have the Dimensions game and expansion packs... and lets be honest, we know and Lego knows exactly whats missing from the line and it can all be done in 1 wave of 4-5 sets. We're not talking about going evergreen here... we're talking ONE wave. It's not impossible. And I will remain optimistic until it happens because I want to buy it!
  4. I'm still hoping for Sir von Lego to post a pic of that Sith Infiltrator... (-:
  5. Odd that a lot of the LotR stuff shown in the game is mostly stuff that hasn't been made as a set and is what fans have really been itching to get (Barad Dur, the Balrog, Oliphant)... Maybe we'll soon see Treebeard and some of the minifigs we've been in desperate need of, and with the tie-in to the game, Lego can justify more LotR sets. Why else have it so heavily featured? I mean this is just ridiculously close to getting a whole new Lego LotR game!
  6. I can't believe that immediately when new Lego LotR product is announced, the haters are already hating. Gandalf is in the starter pack. At least TWO game play levels directly LotR related. LotR has THREE launch expansion packs. The BALROG featured in the first game trailer (a set we've been wanting badly since LotR was announced). Lego CEO guy recently mentioned LotR (I'm pretty sure I linked the exact quote a few pages back), Minas Tirith hits 10k support... But maybe too big for ideas set... I'd say that if we were to EVER have the opportunity for another wave, maybe now is that time. 4 sets and a D2C?
  7. Either way, hahaha ... I'll omit the Riddler if I have to!
  8. Lego Dimensions Balrog... Lego Dimensions Barad Dur... I WANT SETS OF BOTH LEGO ... DAMNIT!!!
  9. Was trying to figure that out myself. It's now shared across most of the LotR/Hobbit/Tolkien FB pages... Hmm?
  10. WOW... STILL no pictures of the upcoming Sith Infiltator???
  11. Anyone have a photo of that upcoming Sith Infiltrator? I'm actually excited about it.
  12. Have photos of the Infiltrator surfaced yet?
  13. That is true. Smaug's actual appearance for DoS wasn't decided on until literally 2 weeks before theatrical release. This is well documented in the making-of extra disc. They even went back and changed him for the blu-ray/dvd release of AuJ. In the original trailers and theatrical release he had 4 legs.
  14. I would love to see the new Sith Infiltrator too please. I was thinking about picking one of the older ones up, but I am super curious to see if the new one is an improvement.
  15. When it comes to the Lord of the Rings theme, I think it really boils down to how awesome wave 1 was and how lack-luster wave 2 was. I was expecting more iconic scenes & characters from the movies, as well as a wave of sets that would rival the quality of wave 1. The Balrog, The Witch-king showdown, the Treebeard encounter, Pelennor... We got none of that. We did get a weird take on Rivendell, half of the Black Gate (um, wtf?), a pirate ship (the absolute last thing on my mind when I think about anything LotR) and a cute but redundant wizard battle (because it was included in another set). I mean, how much more half-assed and uninspiring can it get? Lord of the Rings is about epic battles and heroes overcoming badass ruthless villains. It's not about pirate ships, half built structures & sitting around tables! If sales was the main issue, it's because of set decisions, NOT due to lack of consumer interest. And Lego has only themselves to blame for failing line & the fans.
  16. I think the sales for the Hobbit theme are irrelevant due to the fact that we have gotten a pretty well rounded & complete feeling collection of sets for the trilogy. As far as set/mini-figure choices, placement & pricing, here are my gripes... The Lonely Mountain ... Yeah, maybe $10-20 too expensive but I didn't mind the $130 price. I love the set. It really is a beautiful set that IMO captures the general essence of what took place there. Realistically, there is no way to perfectly capture ALL of Erebor in a stand alone Lego set. They did a great job, EXCEPT... it should have included King Thorin and 2 dwarves other than Kili & Fili. This also should have been part of the DoS wave. The Battle of the Five Armies ... EPIC FAILURE. From the mini-figure selection through to the build itself. Remove Thorin, Legolas & Azog. Replace with Thranduil and a generic Dwarf & Elf soldier, add a Battle-Troll. Remove the giant Orc Crossbow machine and replace with a much smaller screen accurate catapult (maybe it can attach to the Battle-Troll), and revise the Dale structure completely to 3 small buildings (similar to the 3 Lake Town structures). Thus, more accurate play value and also encouraging multiple purchases. Mirkwood Elf Army ... FAILURE. This structure was never in the movie. This should have been The Woodland Realm River Gate (like what DeskP MOC'd) and included Bolg along with 2 Mirkwood Elf Sentry's in place of the hooded soldiers. DeskP's set is gorgeous and not only would it properly represent what was in the film, it would be a tie-in with the Barrel Escape set AND Mirkwood Spiders. Lastly, there should have been a Ravenhill set that included Thorin, Kili, Fili, Bilbo, Legolas, Tauriel, Azog & Bolg and a decently sized Ravenhill build. That is my 2 cents
  17. What? Did I miss this? I haven't seen anything about a Sith Infiltrator...?
  18. So how about this: #1. $19.99 Treebeard - includes brick built Treebeard, Merry, Pippin, Grishnakh #2. $29.99 Witch-king Attack - includes molded Fell Beast, armored Witch-King, Eowyn & Merry, Rohirrim soldier & modular MT wall build #3. $39.99 The Balrog - includes brick built Balrog, damaged Gandalf, 2 Moria Orc Archers, small breaking bridge build #4. $49.99 Amon Hen - includes Lurtz, 2 Uruk Hai (1 new helmet) Aragorn, Frodo, Sam, Boromir, Amon Hen build, boat #5. $89.99 Gate of Minas Tirith - includes Faramir, 2 Gondor soldiers, Battle Troll, Gothmog, 2 armored Orcs, Minas Tirith Gate build (WKA wall can attach to each side), small brick built Grond, field catapult & wall catapult
  19. I would buy all of those sets Dr. Cogg. But you don't have any Gondor Soldiers... And we need a $29.99 Treebeard set (:
  20. http://www.thebrickfan.com/the-future-of-lego-star-wars-theme-very-secure/ Interesting... "Continuing with the interview, Knudstorp also talks about licensed themes. He notes that LEGO doesn’t want every movie to become a theme but they do like “stories that have longevity” such as LEGO The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Star Wars, and Harry Potter." So where are some more LotR sets there Knudstorp buddy...?
  21. Yeah, just saw that on a TMNT forum. Well, in all honesty, the recent MB stuff has been a HUGE improvement over their older product so this could be a good thing for fans of the NICK show. It's just a shame that it won't be LEGO. and especially after wave 2, which to me only had 2 worthwhile sets.
  22. There seem to be way more "fans" in this thread who DON'T want a Minas Tirith to be made. I didn't realize so many guys just want to rain on the parade and pretend they work for TLG to shoot down what little hope that remains with the Ideas set. I mean seriously, is this a fan community or a CEO board meeting? I come here because an am a fan and I would like to talk about this cool theme that I like with fellow fans...
  23. Regardless if it is a final D2C or UCS or Ideas project really makes no difference. And I agree, it was to only Ideas project that was realistic to be made. They might redesign some of it still, time will tell. I excited and I really hope it gets made because it will fill a lot of gaps in the collection. If they decide to do the set as a D2C or UCS, we can get the new molds for Witch-king's helm, Eowyns, helmet, Gondor soldier helmet and a Fell Beast. And that would truly be EPIC! And I don't want to hear about leaked lists, etc... There has been NO official confirmation the line will continue or end. And no date or timeframe. Things can change quick & product can be shifted around (forgotten about the LEGO Movie already?). They might just decide it would be better to release as a D2C or UCS over an Ideas project. Again, time will tell
  24. There was a big lul in the show. But yes, now things are moving along. Shredder's Dragon Bike was finally in an episode! And now the Party Wagon (man I really hope we get that as a LEGO set) & Hot Rod finally made an appearance. The recent Turtle Mech. Bebop & Rocksteady are here now... So there's finally enough stuff that would make sense as set builds to get a new wave together rather than just characters. Also, I've seen the "Mystic Spirit" turtles figures in stores along with Bebop & Rocksteady (in Target), the Party Wagon, the Hot Rod.
  25. What leaked list? Source? Link? They only just announced the 2 approved sets for last review and that the new review is under way. Results late April/May.
