Yeah, I agree. I liked the Logo Movie, but I am good on ALL of those sets. I'm strictly LotR, Hobbit, TMNT & Star Wars.
-
I too will be very shocked if we don't see at least one more LotR. I'd be pretty pissed off actually.
-
At least the Hobbit in the end will have a very well rounded collection of sets. I'm sure the final 4 Hobbit sets will be awesome. As of now we can't say the same for LotR.

This thread is nearing 150K views and almost 2200 posts. It's been VERY active to say the least and it's the same way across the web on other forums. I am sure they are aware of the huge worldwide fanbase of all things Tolkien, It would be folly for TLG to NOT give us some sort of big bang farewell wave. There is obviously a LOT of interest still in LotR, and still a ton of money to be made on this theme.

As cool as Minas Morgul is, I'd much rather get a set that would include good guys we haven't gotten yet like Faramir, Eowyn and either Gondor Soldiers or Archers. Let's be honest, at BEST a MM set would include Frodo, Samwise & Gollum. Right there, it's a waste. Let's be honest, if there are any offerings, they will be limited. My hope is that because there is a delay, and that it takes about a year to produce, maybe TLG will alter LotR wave 3 (if we get one) to include what we've been asking, screaming & begging for... Balrog, Witchking & Fell Beast, a Gondor set & add-on set (Osgiliath or Minas Tirith), and Treebeard.

Saruman was in the rather cheap Wizard Battle set and doesn't look different in the Hobbit/LotR. No way he'd be a polybag. It would be VERY cool to get Iron Hill dwarf soldiers as a polybag though. If the Hobbit sets were shown in London and in Germany, I would totally expect to see them at NYTF. A good buddy of mine is going and he will have a full Lego report with pictures if possible. I must say, the Hobbit has gotten a really good rep of sets in my opinion. I am totally happy with what we've gotten so far. I just hope that in the end, LotR will as well..

Why no love for Treebeard? I understand that there is an Ent with the Orthanc set, but Treebeard is SUCH an iconic character! To me, the Ent with Orthanc is Birch: A brick built Treebeard set would be comparable to the Shelob set, would include Merry, Pippin & Grishnakh... $30-40 set. BAM! If a Treebeard is NOT coming, why would they put a "generic" Ent in the Orthanc set. The minute I saw this I assumed a Treebeard set was a definite. Plus, even in the game, you get to play as both Treebeard & the other Ent. An authentic Treebeard along with the Orc Forge & Orthanc would make a KILLER display. My mom wants her own Treebeard, my wife, several of my friends. It's a no brainer $$$ maker. Some generic Ent... meh, whatever, where's Treebeard? I am certainly happy for what LotR we do have, but the collection won't be complete without him, the Balrog, the Witchking with his Fell Beast and some sort of Gondor/Minas Tirith representation. It honestly would be a slap in the face to the fans that have been collecting the entire line not to release these sets.
-
I don't think any of you guys would be 100% happy with whatever form of Minas Tirith set that would be released, if we even get one. Bring it on! I'm really hoping for both, and a brick built Treebeard too. Even if the Fell Beast was molded, I'd buy at least 3.

Agreed. Even if it only came with 2 Moria Orcs and Gandalf, and just some of the Moria landscape like this: Lego could take some serious cues from the Armies of Middle Earth line for inspiration: Osgiliath ruins with Black Rider & Fell Beast
-
The forces of evil are considered 1 army... this includes Orcs, Wargs, Bats & whatever else might show up with them. Add Dwarves, Men, Elves & Eagles. As for Hobbit sets, I think these are pretty cool. I can't quite give my full opinion until after seeing the final movie. I hope there won't be some sets I will really want after the movie if this is indeed the final wave. But all in all as of right now the Hobbit has gotten a more ~complete~ collection of sets than LotR (to date, lets hope I'm wrong *cough* Treebeard *cough* Balrog *cough* Witch King Fell Beast *cough*)... I'm excited to see them.

Yeah, I agree that the same size would be odd, but I'd take it if it meant we'd get it in an Osgiliath or Pelennor themed set.

I posted this in the other, Future Hobbit Sets thread, but I guess it should have been here... The Witch King in Dol Guldur: I assume this is what we're gonna get, which is fine by me because this also works for Weathertop. But I am also hoping for a LotR Witchking of Angmar in armor as well. So I found 2 different screen shots from the game. He could look like this: Or like this: They seem to be the same except the one in Hobbiton has a hair piece and a different crown. I'm assuming he'll look like that one. ALSO Another thing to consider... Since Smaug's wings are very similar to the fell beast, TLG might just reuse them for the Fell Beast: So MAYBE this is good news for a future Witch King/Fell Beast set too!
-
The Witch King was not seen in DoS, only in AUJ. Since he is coming in a set, we can only assume he will be in TaBA. But either way, it's very cool we will get him because he does work for both the Hobbit Dol Guldur sets as well as Weathertop! I'm excited for this one. I am assuming he will look like this: Now, if only we can get him in his RotK armor as well... Another thing to consider... Since Smaug's wings are very similar to the fell beast, TLG might just reuse them for the Fell Beast: So MAYBE this is good news for a future Witch King/Fell Beast set too!

This is the Witch King in Dol Guldur right before he attacks Radagast.

I don't think we will get any info on Hobbit/LotR until SDCC in July. Although I would love to see the 4 sets for this year now.
-
Hahaha... yeah that too. How about this: I agree, I don't think it would be possible to get a Dain Boar AND a Grond out of 1 mold. We'll be lucky to get a Dain with the way this line has gone, lol.
-
I'm thinking this character is Ahsoka!
-
Grond ... the ram itself... has a boar-ish head

I agree that I don't want the theme to go on for a prolonged span of time. One more wave covering the most wanted sets would do it. Key moments/characters/beats/locations. The Balrog ... with Gandalf and a couple Moria Orcs Treebeard ... with Merry, Pippin and Grishnakh The Witchking Showdown ... with Eowyn in armor, Merry in armor & maybe half of King Theodin (haha) And 2 sets to cover Gondor/Pelennor/Minas Tirith/Osgiliath like a Helms Deep/Uruk-hai Army (ideally) ... or even Dol Guldur Ambush/Dol Guldur Battle sized Would need Faramir & Gondor Rangers or Soldiers (depending on how they do it), Gothmog, Mordor Orc Lieutenant (aka Skully) An Osgiliath set could work either way... with Gondor Rangers OR Soldiers. It's a tough call... but at this point I would take either.

Same here. I am shocked I got a response within hours of sending, but it's just about that same response. Hey, at least they know there is still interest. They're not saying yes, but they also aren't saying no just yet. I personally feel they do have more sets ready to go but they're either figuring a way to work them in to their scheduling somehow, or they're gonna wait and see how the current LotR/Hobbit sets sell & how the future Hobbit wave sells. I still have quite a few sets to go before I complete collection (i.e. time to get the cash together), but I will be buying them all so... I'm still very hopeful.

Lord of the Rings is definitely what got me into collecting Lego for sure. Since then I have picked up a few Star Wars and TMNT. All due to LotR. Thanks for sharing your email response egg roller. It's good to see some of us are reaching out to TLG because the ONLY way TLG will continue LotR is if people ask for it! IF YOU ALL WANT MORE LEGO LORD OF THE RINGS SETS - CONTACT TLG AND TELL THEM! E-mail them, call them, go on their Facebook page & post, encourage fellow fans of to do the same. If you are on the fence about current sets, go buy/invest in them now or ASAP. This really will be the only way we will get more. IF YOU REMAIN SILENT, IT'S OVER. I want more sets. I LOVE THESE SETS. Lord of the Rings... its ... precious ... to me! Lets all help each other out... Tell TLG we want more LotR!!!

Incorrect. We will have the Blu-ray/DVD release of the theatrical edition. Then, we will have the Blu-ray/DVD release of the Extended Edition and probably an ultimate collection, and lastly, we will have a 2ND game release, as the upcoming Lego Hobbit game only covers the first 2 films. The voice of reason here. Anything ANYONE else says is pure SPECULATION. It blows my mind how sure some of you are about what might or might not happen. Just because in the past there might have been a set formula for releases doesn't mean that formula applies to Lego's Middle Earth theme/license! I believe we will get another LotR themed wave. I'm just hoping that it will cover all basses and get us all the sets we really want.
-
And a Fell Beast with Witchking of Angmar & Treebeard. Agreed!
