Very cool, great use of the harpoon-gun :-)

Prices for a 4483 have dropped considerably in the last two years; I'd go for that one instead, especially if you won't re-use the parts (the 4483 is in old-grey)

Now that is really, REALLY cool! I'm not quite sure if this vehicle is supposed to be tan or white, but the overall design is really spot-on! You state that the wings can be 'locked' into vertical position; what kind of technique did you use for this 'locking' ?

Are Star Wars MOC Builders becoming a dying breed?
HJR-Holland replied to HJR-Holland's topic in LEGO Star Wars
One thing I must add in this discussion though, is also the presentation of MOCs which has become a vital part of the presentation of a MOC. My hobby is building stuff with LEGO. Photography isn't really my hobby. And this is how MOC are photographed these days: And this bid for more professional photo's is stopping me a bit in presenting MOCs online as well; I'd rather spend three hours building than use that time to set up a photo studio, make a few shots, and then post-edit everything on the computer. I'm currently waiting for better weather so I can finally make some shots of some MOCs I have already completed over 1 to 2 years ago, instead of spending ages on setting up lamps... -
How does the backside look? I reckon you need a steam boiler for the vehicle to be able to move, but I don't see any from this angle... It now looks a bit like an AT-ST in RAT-look ;-)

Great go on this, you hit it spot-on!! For the flying pose of Boba, those grey round bricks look a bit... odd. I would have Photoshopped those away ;-)

Cool! Keep up the good work :-) I like the way you did the front with Technic bricks; works better / edgier than TLG's variants...

Are Star Wars MOC Builders becoming a dying breed?

I must say that reading the feedback everyone is giving I see two common denominators: - The means to build something (MOC building is an expensive hobby for most) - LEGO releases so many sets that it is not ‘worth the trouble’ to make MOCs I must confess that the latter is something I encountered as well, and withheld me from building MOCs for a while: - I spent a small fortune on parts for a Solar Sailor, and the minute I was finished, LEGO launched theirs. - Then I built a Republic Fighter Tank, and guess what happened? Indeed, LEGO launched theirs. - Then I decided to skip movie- and videogames vehicles altogether and focus on EU instead. What did I do? Pen out a TIE-Mauler and buying hundreds of track pieces, and what did LEGO do? Of course, they launched a TIE-Mauler as well… AArrgghh!!! These days it seems nothing is safe to build anymore, with LEGO now even releasing an E-wing! OK, it’s not set in the right time period (an E-wing during the clone Wars??) and is in a wrong colour scheme, but having built an E-wing myself couple of years ago I can’t help but thinking that if I hadn’t, I probably wouldn’t have bother building one right now as LEGO already released one… On another note, It seems LEGO themselves are also not bothered in encouraging creativity with the Star Wars sets these days: instead of showing alternative models at the back side of Star Wars sets, what they do is show other sets you can buy as well to make your ‘collection’ complete. It’s something you won’t see on the packaging of other LEGO sets… Rather odd really, that a company that in the basis tries to inspire kids to build whatever they can imagine, is killing that exact same principle by releasing an on-going stream of wanted and unwanted sets, pushing away people’s need to sit and create something themselves… -

For those who do build MOCs, but do not post them here, do you post them at all? And if so, where do you share your creations? Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places for MOCs... -
Dear all, I have been a Star Wars LEGO collector from the start in 1999 (for the young ones here: that was when Apple shares were still affordable *sigh*), and whilst gradually building up my collection, I noticed LEGO as a company could not really satisfy my needs for figures and vehicles, so I did what I thought anyone would do with LEGO: I started building what I wanted. I started making my own SW-figurines, my own SW-vehicles, and throughout the years made about 40+ vehicles of my own (and sometimes that of other people’s) designs and about 80 unique minifigs which I still have on my shelves today and enjoy very much. I have been out of the running of MOC building for a while now, and upon my return to the world of LEGO Star Wars, I confess I was shocked to see what has happened: The Eurobricks Star Wars page consists more of Clone Wars episode reviews these days than MOC showcases, which I can’t really blame as there are hardly any new MOCs in the forum anymore! Look at the hot topic these days: - What did you buy lately - What should LEGO bring out next - What did LEGO bring out recently - What minifigs should LEGO make - Show your enormous minifigs collection - Where can I find building instructions of a LEGO set so I can rebuild it - Look at my recreation of a LEGO set with parts I hunted down from Bricklink And so forth. People, I ask you; why? Not only here on Eurobricks, but also on FBTB.net, Imperiumdersteine.de and so forth I find an entire dip in creativity and ingenuity of MOCs, hardly any Star Wars MOC builders display their skills, and it seems the only thing that runs the MOC sections are single pane funnies and photographs of minifigs in the real world (Stormtroopers in the living room, Scout troopers in the woods, Snowtroopers in the snow etc.). I see pictures of LUG meetings, and Star Wars MOCs seems entirely vanished… I really wonder where that came from? With the Clone Wars and TOR there are tens of vehicles and hundreds of characters which could / should inspire the Star Wars LEGO fans, and with LDD there is an extra tool (next to Ldraw) that enables anyone to create without any limits, but it seems hardly anything derived from any of these sources. Why I that? Is it maybe laziness as LEGO churns out so many sets that it’s better to wait out and beg for sets rather to create your own? Is it lack of creativity? Is it because of the costs of building MOCs? I see endless streams of people complaining of what LEGO doesn’t do, but why not starting doing something yourself? Believe it or not, but you can build virtually anything out of LEGO, so why don’t you all do exactly that? I look forward to read your reactions concerning my worries J With kind regards, HJR, (fellow) Star Wars MOC builder

Errr... how did you get 25% dicount on that set?
-
scroll up and be amazed :-)
-
I agree; I'd pick the 8038 any day over the 7657...
-
Various colours have been killed off by LEGO a few years ago; sand red, sand blue, and turquoise as well. That's why the Geonosian battle droids no longer sand red, but reddish brown...
-
Can I also jump on the bandwagon? I think I even score 95% on SW-only... BTW: Erdbeereis, where's your tag?!
-
Well, Embo ain't dead yet, so here's a clip of season 6
-
Magma Trooper would be an easy choice: I think it would tick all the boxes: - TLG could easily make such a figure without extra costs - It's absolutely unique - It's not easy to place with a LEGO set - Everyone wants more than one of this - It's really cool!

If the 3D-movie-relaunch-bonanza would have continued I would have guessed for a renewed variant somewhere 2016, but right now it's a gamble when it might come... In a combo with a Slave I perhaps? surely that'll be remade in 3 years or so... -
Hope the original, Hayden Christensen in that scene was pure blasphemy! Shame on you George!!
