I actually like the walls. They accent the whole building very nicely, and make it look very real. Great job!

I fixed my voting mistake, so it's legit now. Don't know how I missed that DeGothia had already been chosen... -

Oh, awesome! I thought that we had to have one large MOC for the Settlement Task, so I wasn't really going to participate, but in this case, I'm going to try my hand at it. And I'm pretty excited that there's going to be a Nautical-themed challenge coming up! Got some ideas for this. -

Well, I suppose I could try to do something like this... One question about this challenge though, are we supposed to make one big build with all the elements for Hamlet, Village, Town, etc.? Or do we make separate builds for each of the categories, like Nautical, REQ, or agricultural, and then link them in one post to qualify for the different settlement categories? -
I think just a $12.99 battle pack would be great, because you still get a good amount of soldiers if you buy 1 in the case of kids/parents. I doubt parents are going to get their kids over 2-3 of the same set, but just one or two, and they'd sell like hoth cakes for AFOLs and kids alike. And there's got to be more bad guys than good guys. Or at least more than we have. There wasn't 8 orcs vs the 20+ good guys in Hobbit/LOTR. Just one bad guy and one good guy battlepack would be awesome. But then we get into the license question. *Sigh* All the good things that could have been done with this line. Not to rag on lego, but I do think there are quite a few missed opportunities that had the potential to be very successful.

We've got some creative namers here on GoH... I wonder how many different ways you can say Dan the Man... On a more serious note, do we have any more upcoming challenges for Avalonia besides the Historican settlement one? Just wondering, because I've got some ideas for various builds, but they don't really fit into this particular task, and free-builds aren't as fun as building for a challenge, at least for me. Particularly, I'm hoping for a nautical/sea/ship based one, since I've got some ideas that fit there. Anyways, just curious what's coming up. -
I don't get it when people say this. When I was a kid, I liked the sets (especially castle based) that had a lot of minifigs the best, because I wanted to have big armies. I would have LOVED to have actual army builders. I think that's probably the case with most kid-lego fans. I mean, what do boys like better than epic battles (I say boys since they are the main target market for this type of lego)?

Not sure where you mean... What's the name of your territory? I don't see it highlighted on the map. I mean, it's fine with me to change my territory, just as long as I'm still on the main river at the top of Avalonia. Let me know where you mean, and I can change my borders. Edit: Never mind, I just saw you did highlight your borders, I just didn't see it. I can move mine over a little bit so we share a border. Or we could have a war... @Rogeuang, could I move my territory over a little bit and include this new part (extended yellow part on the left) to fix the problem? If not, that's ok. -

I recently chose my land, but here it is again just in case it got missed. Ferinwald, in yellow. -
Ah, that's right. I forgot about the Uruk-Hai and Mirkwood Elf polybags. In that case, I think there's a fairly big chance we'll get either an orc polybag, or a Ironhill Dwarf one. Or possibly an elf soldier polybag, with their cool helms. Now that would be sweet.

Minas Morgul. -
I thought polybags were promotional in nature, so the likely-hood of having a no-name/generic soldier type character would be rather small?... Then again, they did a Laketown Guard, so that theory must not be entirely accurate. Who knows. All I know is that I'd be thrilled to get a Ironhill/Orc soldier polybag, and would probably buy quite a few of them.

Ah, that makes sense. To bad I missed it.

Very impressive when it's all together. Awesome MOC.

Thanks for the nice comments and ideas guys. I'm about to start working on another MOC, so hopefully I'll have it on GoH in not to long.

I might have to try it then, since I also have Gmail.

This is so amazing. It must have taken a long time to create such awesomeness... The size combined with all the details is really great. That tree is really cool too, and I like how you made the roots visible as they go into the ground. Three thumbs up  .

Great story, great build! I love how you made the scroll pieces, very clever, and looks really good. I may have to steal that idea if you don't mind...
