  1. Thanks MikeyB. I'm definitely gonna try something different next time with the walls... Thanks for the ideas! I agree, I need to make the road more road-worn. Haha. About Flickr, I may get it in the future, but I didn't want to have to get a Yahoo account to set it up... I may give in eventually though, since I like how it's set up better than PB. Thanks! I guess I do need to take better pics. It was my first try with photographing legos though, so hopefully I'll be able to improve and learn some new techniques. I can take some more of the trees if you like, though they aren't anything amazing. Making pine trees out of legos is hard. Much appreciated! I'm rather partial to the fireplace myself. Thanks for the complements! I'll have to remember to do a double row if I do this wall technique again. And I can't take credit for the candle idea, since I actually got the idea from someone here on EB. Thanks Lord Vladivus! Thank you. It was probably one of the best houses I've done. Thanks, I'll try to have another MOC on here soon, if time allows for it.
  2. Well, I hear-by lay claim to the lands of Ferinwald.
  3. Thanks! I was inspired by various builds I've seen of similar type with the landscape/house, so I decided to try my hand at it. I'm not to happy with how the cobblestone wall of the house turned out, but It was my first time using that technique, and I ran our of 1x1 round studs. If I could change one thing about it though, it'd be not accidentally making the house an uneven number of studs long... And I'd make the lower floor interior wall smooth, since it looks kind of ugly on the inside. Oh well.
  4. Since I just joined GoH, I thought I'd post a build I did over the weekend, since someone said I should post some back story builds of my sig fig. If there was a challenge I should/could post this in, I'd like to. Anyways, without further ado, here's a cottage in the woods of the lands of Sir Brychan Cedry of Avalonia - I hope the pictures are the right size. There's more pics of the interior/details in this link (I didn't want to have to resize a whole bunch of pics) - http://s889.photobuc.../?sort=3&page=1
  5. Is there an updated map of the available lands in Avalonia? I couldn't find one, and I wan't to make sure I don't start a war by claiming someone else's land... Oh, and I'll look out for those bearded women... and men... and bears.
  6. Ah, I get to claim land... Must choose wisely. MKJoshA, I read about the infamous Nocturnus Pie, and figured I'd start early with the trash talk.
  7. And here's my SigFig, Sir Brychan Cedry Bio - Sir Brychan Cedry is a knight who is the lord of a small estate of land in Avalonia. He grew up in an isolated forest in the care of a mysterious old man who took him when his parents were killed by an orc raid at the age of 3. When he turned 20 he joined the Avalonian army as a way to seek revenge on orc-kind for the death of his parents. He quickly was promoted through the ranks due to his skill in battle, and at the young age of 22, he became a knight. He still has a burning hate for orcs, and that hate is only surpassed by his hate for Nocturnus-made pie, due to an unfortunate incident that happened while on military duty in Nocturnus. He doesn't talk about that incident. Ever... Not sure if I did this right. I had some trouble with the pics.
  8. I actually like it quite a bit. It's a pretty good looking minifig, I like the arm printing. Of course Dain, Old Bilbo, etc. would have been better, but I still think this one looks nice.
  9. I think I'm gonna join Avalonia... Probably a good suit for my building type. I'll post a sig fig today or tomorrow...Or in a couple days. Or sometime.
  10. I might possibly want to join GoH and I'm leaning toward Avalonia as a guild... But I'm not sure yet. How exactly does this whole thing work? What all do you do in GoH? I read the first page of this thread and it explained the basics, but any more details you guys could give me would help me decide whether to give my alliance or not...
  11. Hmm, tough one. Minas Morgul could have the new orc prints/helms that we want in a battle pack, plus we could get a witch king on fell beast. But we still wouldn't have a proper army builder for orcs which is needed. I'm going to just barely go with Orc Battle Pack.
  12. Crownies. Man, I loved that line, it's probably my all time favorite theme, next to LOTR/Hobbit. But definitely my all time favorite non-licensed theme. Great figs, builds, colors. Fond memories.
  13. Well, I'm still holding out hope that we'll get Rohan in a LOTR wave 3. But yeah, I missed the boat. Unfortunately, I didn't really get into the LOTR line until this past year. I could kick myself now. I might have to just take a long drive to Walmart... Or maybe someone will invent a time machine in the future and I can go back and stock up on UHA and Helm's Deeps. LOL.
  14. I'm still wondering why Lego didn't just do three LOTR waves, one for each movie. In my opinion, it would've been a good move, rather than randomly split up different scenes from the three movies like they've done. I suppose they might have had a reason, but it's beyond me. I'm still thinking that we're going to get a 3rd wave though. It just make sense to do a third. It probably just got shoved back due to the Hobbit's timing. Oh, Darth Caedus, that list would be awesome if it was real... We can dream.
  15. Well, I only have 2 Moria Orcs, and I am rather partial to them too, but I would trade if I can't find any good deals (or even reasonable deals LOL) on Rohan soldiers. So I'll keep you in mind! And about the creating a thread, I didn't know you couldn't create a thread if your under 100 posts. I thought it was you couldn't create a poll? I don't know. U.S., WA State. I've see the sets in some stores, but they're up to like $50. Almost double the original price. And I checked the Toys R Us website, and they don't have Uruk Hai Army listed under their Lego LOTR products. EDIT: I just checked Walmart's website, and they still have Uruk Hai Army for $30, but they aren't in stock on line, and they only have them in a store that's like a 2-3 hour drive one way from my house. Also, "ship to home" isn't available for it. Frustrating.
  16. Hi guys, I was just wondering what the best/cheapest way to get Rohan soldiers/Eomers and Uruk Hai is. I really missed the boat when Helm's Deep and the Uruk Hai Army set came out, since I only got one Uruk Hai army and no Helm's Deep. Arg. Anyways, I'm trying to get some more Rohan soldiers and Uruks, but the prices are so ridiculous. I'd even be happy to just get Rohan helmets, but I can't find any that I could justify spending the price that's being asked. I've checked brick link, and the Rohan soldiers there were pretty pricey. I'm really just wishing I could find some good priced Uruk-Hai Army sets, but haven't seen any. Maybe we'll get some more Rohan in a wave 3 LOTR line... So if anybody has any places to look or sees a good deal that they'd direct me toward, I'd be super appreciative.
  17. I just checked on BrickLink, and the cheapest one is 250 USD. So you could pick it up and probably sell it for a profit if you wanted.
  18. Well, Amon Hen is one of my all time favorite locations/scenes from LOTR. It's so epic, yet emotional, a really beautiful scene. But as much as I love it, it would just be a repeat of characters, whereas with a Mordor battle pack we could get new armored/helmed orcs, with new torso and facial printing. Plus we have no real good way to build our Orc armies, and large Orc armies are one of the main parts of LOTR. So Mordor Battle Pack.
  19. We gotta have a Gondor soldier. A Gates of Minas Tirith set with soldiers would work, or the Citadel with Guards, or Osgiliath, or even the courtyard with the white tree, just SOMETHING. Heck, If Lego decided to discontinue the line right now but produced a Gondor Soldier polybag as a farewell, I would cry with happiness. We just need Gondor Soldiers. But aside from that I don't really have any strong feelings on the subject...
  20. Mordor Battle Pack, since Galadriel's coming in a Hobbit set.
  21. I don't know if they'll have such low prices anymore though, since Goblin King is one of the sets with the "retiring" status on the Lego site. I'm gonna keep a look out though. :)
  22. Bought Attack of the Wargs and the Mirkwood Spiders sets today. I wanted to get them before the price starts skyrocketing now that they're retiring the Wargs set, and probably Mirkwood spiders in not to long. Only 2 more Hobbit sets to go and I'll have the full dwarven company. I might just BrickLink Ori, Dori, and Nori though. Not sure if I want to spend $70-$80 on the Goblin King set.
  23. I personally would prefer the troll shield design over the roman shield for Gondor soldiers. I used them for my custom Gondor soldiers, and used this design - http://www.brickshel...rian_shield.png It does have the stud hole in the middle, but it's the best one I could find. I'll post a picture of the shields later.
  24. I'm kind of surprised that we have info on 2014 Hobbit sets already. The last wave just came out a month ago. I'm happy though, since we're for sure getting Smaug, the Witchking, and Elrond. To the topic of how Smaug will be done, deskp is right in that Smaug's going to have to have at least partially a new mold if it's based on the castle line dragons. I mean, his head is a lot different than those, and instead of the traditional 4 legs 2 wings, he has 2 back legs and his front legs are part of his wings. So i'm curious what the end result/design will be.
  25. Ah, a hoax and run. I googled "2014 LOTR sets" just because I was curious what would come up, and there were like 4-5 different web pages that were quoting his post here.. Anyways, I'm kind of glad, yet kind of disappointed it's basically proved a hoax. Because on one hand, the supposed sets weren't all that great, but on the other hand, it'd be kind of nice to have some idea of what's happening with the future of Lego LOTR. I'm holding out hope for Toy Fair.
