I like it, you've captured the chaotic/battle-strewn floor look really well.

So the 2014 sets that were posted on here a while back that someone supposedly got from a friend that works on the Lego LOTR line were proved to be a hoax?

Middle-Earth Madness - Lothlórien vs Prancing Pony [Week 5]
Hammerhand replied to Blakstone's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
This one's tough. I would like to have an Inn type of building, and I think it could be really cool. But probably the only new minifig that would come with it would be Barliman Butterbur, the owner of the prancing pony, since the logical characters to include would most likely be Frodo, Sam, 2 Nazgul, and maybe Aragorn with a hood . It'd basically be a repeat of Weathertop minifig-wise. On the other hand, Lothlorien could come with Galadriel, Celeborn, and maybe some other lothlorien elves (possibly another Haldir?), plus the elven tree houses would be really cool structures. So I guess my vote is Lothlorien. -
Where'd you get the door, or the print for the door if that's what you used? Really cool, I like the way you did the water and the water plants. And I like the vines on the trees... Clever.

These are some seriously epic armies... Mine's made up of 4 Uruk Hai, 2 Moria Orcs, 2 Nazgul, and one cave troll . Plus a whole bunch of trolls from the castle line. I'll post a pic of them attacking my home made Helm's Deep soon.

Well, it's not quite that simple. I wouldn't buy a whole lot of $40 sets, I'd actually maybe buy two, possibly three if the price is low enough. Then brick link if I really want more minifigs. Factoring in that I'm in college, my lego budget is not very high, and I have another $ consuming hobby. As for how much lego I have in $$$, well, probably thousands of it (though I'd like to sell some of it because a lot of it isn't useful when all I ever build is castle stuff) but that's because I've been collecting lego since I was tall as a hobbit. I also would rather buy more smaller sets with more minifigs and stuff than one big one. I don't think hoping for smaller army building/connectable sets is any more egotistical than hoping for a big D2C set...
-
Maybe I'm in the minority, but I hope there's not a huge Minas Tirith set. I'd like it better if there were smaller, more affordable sets, maybe make them so they can connect. I prefer the smaller sets with more minifigs personally. If the set is much over 100 USD, a lot of people like me can't afford to spend that much on legos, though I'd like to. If it was about the same size as Helm's Deep, that'd be fine. In fact, if it was like Helm's Deep with connectable smaller walls, that would probably be really popular. That's what I'm hoping for anyways.

I think it's likely. Although it is in February, so there is a chance that TLG will decide that's to early to release info about sets that are coming out in December (or was it October?).
-
Don't know if it's been said yet, and I apologize if I'm just repeating common knowledge, but the 2014 Hobbit set numbers are up on Brickset now (79015, 79016, 79017, 79018).

Wow, where'd you get such good prices? I also would recommend getting Helm's Deep, as it's going to be super expensive since it's out of production now. I'm looking for one myself, but can't find any reasonable prices.

Wow, awesome! Looks just like in the movie. I like the use of all the white curvy spine pieces... Very well done.

[MOC] (the nine clans) The sword of power
Hammerhand replied to odidoma's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Very cool. Is that a turkey/chicken leg I see coming out of the banner?... -
Here's that part of the reply I got from Lego that has to do with the future of the LOTR line (I asked some questions about other stuff as well that I cut out) - As for whether the line is retiring or not, I can't tell for sure. A theme tends to stay for about a year or two, and then we retire it for more, but the ones I mentioned are out there and available, so scoop those up while you can! Otherwise, just keep looking and you may see another line pop up at some point. We appreciate your comments, so I'll be passing your interest in keeping Tolkein's wonderful world alive on to the design team. You never know, some of the old treasures might make a comeback! Not much there. Sounds like they really just don't know. Back to waiting, fretting, and speculating I guess... LOL.

Well, it's worth a try. I sent an email, so I'll let y'all know what the reply is. You have an awesome LOTR/Hobbit collection by the way. Mine's small, and I've been kicking myself that I didn't get more Uruk Hai army sets and at least one Helm's Deep while the prices where still reasonable. To the topic of future LOTR sets, I think we've all come to the definite conclusion that we know for sure that TLG is going to...... ....either continue the LOTR line or end it.

I think those of us who doubt the responses people are posting from TLG (I admit I do) should send emails too, and then compare to see if there's anything we can glean from the answers. I'm gonna send one anyways.

Middle-Earth Madness - Mount Doom vs Lothlórien [Week 4]
Hammerhand replied to Blakstone's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Lothlorien if we get Celeborn in it too. -
I see your knights like Uruk-Hai swords... Very nice detailing of the throne room (I like all those rohan banners!)
-
NIce scene! I like how you made icicles.
-
I've got my fingers crossed... I think they'd be extremely popular if they do make them.
-
Going back to the topic of armored elves, after having seen the movie, I'm starting to doubt that we'll get any.

MOC: CCCXI- An Explosive Experiment
Hammerhand replied to Digger1221's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Lots of great details going on here. The texturing of the walls on the bottom level is really good, and the ogre/cyclops head is a nice touch.. I also love your candle/candle holder ideas, they are really well done. Looks great. -
I really like the way you made the top of the tower wood. That's what a lot of the early/pre medieval were like, so I think that's pretty cool.
-
Rohan Battle pack. It's much more relevant than the Watcher in the water, which is a very small part of the movies, plus I don't think lego would ever make one. The Rohan soldiers are a huge part of the movies (Helm's Deep, Pelenor fields, battle at the Black Gate), and we need more of them. It'd be especially great if it came with a horse, since they are also a pretty big part.
-
To the topic of Minas Tirith... I'm pretty sure that lego will split it up into several different sets rather than one, since it's so big. There's no way to do it even a smudge of justice if they do it in one set just because of the sheer size of it (much bigger than helm's deep). Also, I wonder if they'll do what they did with helm's deep and not include any soldiers, but put them in another smaller set like the Uruk Hai army? That way we'd get more orcs and the main characters (denethor, gandalf, pippin in gondor armor etc.), and maybe bigger sets. I guess I just hope we get a 3rd LOTR wave, lol.
