Land Rover Defender 90
jono rocky replied to Sariel's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
You have raised the bar again. It looks and acts just like a real one. You had my 7yr old son convinced it was real....nuff said. -
Thanks for everyones comments. Its a 4 door V8 sedan because that's the criteria of the racing category but yeah a coupe would of been easier to make. There is a link to the racing website on the first post.

Here is the final car. In addition you can open the hood, boot and doors via lockable door handles and an adjustable rear spoiler. Forgot to mention that the chassis drivers side has an air line in ( like the real cars) for the car jacks with a switch for up and down. some pics and the video.

G'day all. So last week I decided to enter the Lego Porsche contest with this idea of a dream Porsche car. In Australia we have a racing category called V8 Supercars and since I follow this series and a masive Holden fan I thought well Porsche should race a car as well and that became my dream Porsche, a Porsche V8 Supercar. The car will be made in 2 parts, chassis and body.Overall size when finished- 570mm x 230mm x 170mm. My aim was to create a realistic car with roll cage and stuff but to have the body separate so that I can create other car brands to go over the chassis since in the race series the run a control chassis. If there is time Ill add front and rear independent adjustable sway bars. The chassis functions are: 4 wheel Independent suspension. 4 wheel disk brakes that work through the brake peddle. camber and steering geometry. 4 spd sequential gearbox. working clutch through the clutch peddle. HOG steering with a moving steering wheel. air operated car jacks. fake V8. V8 Supercar Porsche by Jono Mckinlay, on Flickr Hopefully it will be finished in time for the comp.

This is brilliant. Maybe swap the "mindstorm" logo and add instead/or with a Porsche logo and that would complete the front end I reckon.

Curious... I never had a dream Porsche until I saw the 918 Spyder (thank you Jeremy Clarkson) but would it be ok to customize it a bit to make have more for what its renown for or something along those lines and call it a 918 RS Spyder or a 918 Gt Spyder but still closely resemble the original just more muscle? Personally I don't think its right to enter with an old moc cause it doesn't show initiative for contest when there is a time restraint on it. I've already started cause I just liked the idea and its not a truck or machinery so this is new territory but so far its 1:10 scale,4sp paddle shift (completely different to the Lego set just released, somehow mine works at the moment and is smaller) 4 wheel steering with both speed modes, bigger electric motors, lights, susp.........

This is pretty darn good. May I suggest using the Lego Barb on the ends of the ripper claws. Looking forward to the instructions. Keep up the awesome work. -
Technic in Real Life
jono rocky replied to Kman860's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I worked in a sand quarry using everything from diggers to the crushers so buying all Technic machinery is a must for me, that was until I got into trucks now its all Technic trucks. Its a must buy for the bucket wheel excavator for the B model. -

Was thinking the exact same thing after reading the review then trying to buy it online. -
Thanks Jim for your review. Again crisp photos, great detail and adding the real Porsche specs in made for an impressive review. My wife actually read it too and says its a well configured review and he must know his stuff. Now to buy it off Lego and wait a 2-3 weeks for it to turn up.
