That's usually the case in the US as well. Small discount, couple sets heavily discounted, free shipping, and a promo item. Usually the heavily discounted sets are not recently released ones, unless they're selling poorly. (I think the UCS Delta-7 was one of the more heavily discounted items a few months after its release.)

I kind of agree with his opinion. (Okay, so that's mostly just because I'm an OT guy.) But as much as I vastly prefer one part of the saga to all the others, and as much as I can't say I'd mind if the PT was retconned, it's also always been my stance to accept what's been added to canon no matter how bad it is, and that future publications should at least respect that, and then ignore it and let it be instead of trying to overwrite it or 'fix' it. Someone messed up, I hate what they did, fine, now let's just stop focusing on that and do something else instead of making it worse. (Remember how much we complained about the ridiculous Force powers and irrealistically powerful Grievous in the '03 CW series? Remember how the '07 TCW series promised to fix things like that? How many of us would rather just have back Mace Windu from the Dantooine arc and Grievous from the Hypori arc, compared to what happened in TCW?)

To be fair, everything we've seen so far is supposed to be half-finished.

Yeah, the book ended up being more about Palpatine than about Plagueis, despite the title, and the book had so many connections and coincidences and behind the scenes reveals of stuff from other publications that it moved beyond "Wow, the Sith were manipulating everything," and became "This is just ridiculous."

We do already have a book detailing Plagueis' fate and how very evident it is that he has become complacent and inferior to Palpatine by the time he's killed during the events of Menace. (Not that I would be surprised if Disney and Lucas ignore that, but for now, we know what the situation was as far as Palpatine being master or apprentice.)
