But then how does that affect the cost of WP upgrades? It'd be Buy-One-Get-One-Free upgrades vs. Beasts. (Unless that's how you intended it?)

Heroica RPG - Quest #77: Your Elves are Better than Ours
Brickdoctor replied to Brickdoctor's topic in The Heroica Archive
You are able to discern that the elf speaking to you is a female. "Epessenya ná Saeavel; nan inya macar. Manen utúliestë quetë ana massánië Calaryl?" My name is Saeavel; I am a swordswoman. Why have you come to speak to Lady (the highest of the elven ladies) Calaryl? "Quén Eldar ar atta Firyar tullë nóstë." One elf and two men (individuals of the race of men) came before (behind in the elvish sense of time) you. -
Love it, Rook. The platform is a great mix of curves and angles and smooth bits and greebles, the clouds are perfect, and the ship looks like it could be right out of one of the concept art pieces for the OT. Only one big complaint: The sky isn't blue on Bespin! Making that orange would make this pretty much perfect. Edit: See posts below Also, did you have a title for the creation that I can edit into the topic title?

"I see. Fair point." QM Note: I was mostly saying that I'd wait for Boomingham to say something. Also, you might have noticed that a bunch of my images have been broken. I didn't realize that Photobucket had a bandwidth limit and that I was close to passing it. I made the mistake of forgetting to rehost one of the Shadows of Nar Eurbrikka promo images in my EB Gallery before frontpaging it, and putting one of my Photobucket images on the FP evidently blew my bandwidth usage through the roof. I had prepared for this by re-uploading a bunch of my pictures to other sources and changing them a couple pages back, and I'm working on the rest. -

"No, why should we trust you?" "Yes, of course, whatever you want!" "No, we can't trust them. We will see what the other traveler says, first." -
Well, that's why you would include a translation.

Oh, and I updated the first post.

I'm not pointing fingers at anyone or saying that I dislike anyone's roleplaying, this is just something I'm wondering: What do you guys think about players who say, "I speak in the x language, 'blah blah lorem ipsum blah...", writing in English and saying that they're speaking it in a different language? I know sometimes we don't want to mix out-of-character and in-character knowledge, but with languages being something not related to any in-game mechanical ability (Animal Talk being the exception to this post, of course.), shouldn't players try to type out the lines in the actual other languages in addition to claiming to be speaking them, and provide a translation if they want to? It seems like the sort of power that can be used to influence NPCs but which isn't bound by any rules and would be easy to just claim to have. Not as an issue of out-of-character vs. in-character knowledge (Docken's comprehension of languages is limited only by my ability to use Google.), but as an issue of being able to award your character powers without doing anything to earn them. Edit: Other than some common sense exceptions, such as players who play elven characters claiming to be able to speak (at least one form of) elvish regardless of the player himself actually being able to understand some elvish or not; that would make sense and be acceptable in my opinion.

OoC: I should go back and tally all the times Docken's dealt Damage. This must be some kind of record, how much of the Damage he's doing. I repeat.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Brickdoctor replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I've seen a lot of mods, and to be honest, they've kind of conditioned me to think of the stock set as ugly when I look at it. I look at MOCs and mods like the ones Mr Man linked to, and then I look at the stock set, and it becomes obvious to my eyes how bulky the stock set is. If you're not bothered by that, then that's the only real major objection most people have, if they have one. (Or maybe you should buy it and then experiment with your own modifications — not that I'd necessarily consider a $400 set as the optimal choice for a practice mod. ) Oh, also, these questions are usually supposed to be in "What set should I buy?" over in General Discussion, but we let SW questions go in "Post your general Star Wars questions here", so I'll move it there. -
Shadows of Nar Eurbrikka — Introduction and Discussion

Concore, I've updated the index with your new SoNE avatar, however, the one you embedded is 208x208, and it should be 100x100. I used the 100x100 version that the board automatically creates when you set it as your EB avatar, but it's always best to have another version that isn't used by your EB account, that way if you ever want to change your EB avatar in the future, you can do that without inadvertently changing your avatar in the SoNE Player Index. You don't have to do it now; just something to consider. -

SoNE (Free Build) - Prologue: All About Mud
Brickdoctor replied to Covi's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
About color contrast, remember that the bright and contrasting colors that stand out will draw the eye towards them. Thinking of an MOC as a form of art, do you want spots of the swamp to be the focal point for the viewer? I think you would want the focus on the speeder and the droid; the droid can take care of itself being white and red in the swamp, but I would've applied the color for contrast to the speeder, not to the plants... Maybe some thin yellow bits; that color almost always complements grey well. Perhaps dark blue instead of dark red, or some bright red worked in with the dark red, and/or some chrome silver, if you have it. -
I think that if you surrounded the yellowed bricks with some yellowed plates to round them off (Like anti-aliasing), you could make them look more like dirty spots. I like the technique of using them as such; I remember someone used it to great effect in an entry to a Reasonably Clever contest a couple years ago -- you just need to have an idea of how the yellowed bricks should be arranged to be realistic.

QM Note:MegaBloks, I forgot that Wedge09 was an elf. I adjusted the line to say 'Brobric Elves', which is the same idea as what I had intended, anyways. "Uh, certainly! Please don't attack us, travelers; we mean you no harm --" The man drops his spear. His orcish companion hissed, "We don't even know who they are! Pick up your weapon and act like a soldier!" "-- we're just citizens of R'kilf and not even warriors -- I'm just an entertainer and jester who used to work at the tavern -- and we're attempting to help retake our village for the resistance by ambushing elves who might come get their horses even though they never leave their keep or use the stables anymore because they're afraid of the Pongcanae..." You listen as the man's voice trails off; whether because he realized how much information he was revealing or because he was finished and had run out of breath, you do not know. "You idiot." -

Ah, now that you mention it, I see the handcuffs just barely visible there. Maybe move one of the troopers down there to escort him and make his having been captured clearer?- 12 replies

A voice is heard from the arrow loops.(Unseen Elf) "Ela! Quetindë lambëlwa. Aiya, heri Nerwen. Á nyarë i Nauco i qui ualennanúnssë, haryuvas pilin mí antarya." Look! A speaker of our language. Hail, Lady Nerwen. Tell the dwarf that if he does not get down, he will have an arrow in his face. -

QM Note: Ah. Once you finish reading all of Zahn's stuff, get some of Kevin J. Anderson's novels. Then you can find the other Star Wars reference in this magic shop. "R'kilf has never been well-governed. Its descent from aristocracy to tyranny to anarchy was predictable. Perhaps it would seem irresponsible of me to do nothing, but I see no hope in the citizens and leaders of R'kilf. If the village finally destroys itself, I will simply move on to another city. "I wish you good luck in your endeavor, Master Regulus, but neither Warlord Kaherdin nor Lady Calaryl and definitely not the Dread Pirate Indiacca is fit to rule the city. I would offer an opinion on this resistance leader, but no one has seen him. If the resistance does something of note, perhaps then my view will change." -
Yeah, I agree with you. It looks rather childish and cartoonish and reminds me of packaging from non-LEGO stuff from, I think, around '03-'05. I think it was on Sith plastic model kits that I remember seeing art like this. I just couldn't resist pointing out that the packaging of the original action figures was actually pretty awesome.
-
I wish that the packaging looked like what the original action figures were released in. We got a couple special editions of sets in art similar to that, and it looked great with the silver metallic border.

QM Note: Lord Duvors, don't be afraid to make more posts rapidly and/or double post in Heroica quests. It makes it easier for QMs to avoid missing actions that you add through editing. The Party at the Keep: The keep is pitch black inside, dark enough that you can't see anything, except for a slight glint of metal that accompanies a creak of wood and string. The Party at the Stables: Boomingham, Alexander, you walk across the courtyard to the stables. They appear to have escaped most of the damage sustained by the barracks, either that or they were somewhat repaired. As you approach them, presumably prompted by your footsteps, two figures dressed in sleeveless hauberks drop down from the supporting beams in the roof of the structure. "At last, I thought they'd never leave the keep...wait." "...these aren't our targets; they're not even Brobric Elves." -
