Adjustable Spirograph
legolijntje replied to Blakbird's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This is a wip of the LDraw file. I know you can export LDD to LDraw, but it can (and it does) contain missing and misplaced parts, this is way better. I'm looking forward to V5! Maybe it would be worth to make instructions for V5? -

If anyone can re-upload the LDD file, I would love to make an LDraw file of it (and let Blakbird render the thing ) -
Technic General Discussion

Well, it's still a work in progress. The thing is a bit unstable at the moment when it get's folded out or in. And the yellow things at the legs aren't automatic yet, you need to push them in place by hand. You can see it in a video . -
Liebherr LTM 1070 4.2 v2.0
legolijntje replied to Dejw's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Wow. At first, I thought this was a model without functions, just a model to show. But then I read and saw it includes a whole bunch of motors and functions. Amazing work! Well done! -
Well, I'm happy for anyone who likes the Exo Suit, but for me it's the most uninteresting models of all the ones that were reviewed. I really hoped that Portal would become a set Anyway, congratulations to the winner!

What you can do of course, is create the flexible part, export it as a dat and then threat it as a normal LDraw part in another model. I never tried it, but in theory it should work. Although I don't really see any advantages...

Sadly, that isn't possible (as far as I know). You can export an L3B file to a .dat file, which includes the flexible parts, but it isn't LSynth. You end up with hundreds of lines of code for 1 flexible part... This lack of LSynth is a big disadvantage in my opinion...

I don't have used SR3D on a Mac (because I don't have one and don't want one), but I think it will work on yours (although that NVidia thing isn't the most powerful card...). I don't know which graphics card your old laptop has, but it may be incompatible because of an old DirectX version support. Your NVidia card has the right DriectX support, so I guess it will work. But these are all thoughts, so don't think I'm 100% right

This image made by Sergio (SR3D author) is a comparison between SR3D Free and Paid. About the enter: yes, you do need to press enter to place a brick (you can also press the yellow dot in the middle of the blue arrow), but you'll get used to it very quickly. Thi also allows you to place a lot of the same part very quickly: place, enter, replace, enter, replace, enter. I can do this (and I certainly do) in seconds But it can be annoying if you're using a laptop without a seperate mouse....

Sadly I lost a lot of my knowledge of MLCad, because I'm mostly using SR3D for years now. It has all the advantages of LDD and MLcad and even more. You should really take a look at it (if you haven't done already). Only 1 disadvantage though, it doesn't have very good LPub support (yet?); e.g. submodels. Steps and rotsteps do work though.

Well, LDraw has far more parts than LDD. And, the parts are made very differently, which makes the converting very difficult, since all parts have to be repositioned. Anyway, make sure you have the latest LDraw parts pack and make sure your LDD has the newest version of the ldraw.xml But, there's a high chance the conversion won't be 100% correct. But since you want to make LPub instructions, I would recommend to build the model from scratch in a LDraw based program (MLcad, SR3D Builder, etc.) since you also need to add your own steps. If you need any more help, feel free to ask.

Thanks jester, for your models , but please note that your images are oversized at your three most recent Star Wars models. You can either remove the big white area (recommended), or just resize them.

Hi, I just downloaded the measurements page from the Technic website, and it shows a dark tan axle 5L with a stop. Is this a new (unknown) axle? Or is it a wrong file and it should be a 4L tan axle with a round middle. Or was I just laying under a rock last months?

Well, I've looked at it carefully (I think in total I looked at it for like 30 mintues, really) but there are just too many unseen spots, especially the suspension construction is barely visible on most pictures. I can upload the .l3b file if anyone wants it, but it's not very much (as you can se on the picture). Btw, one thing that's not helping either, is the fact that this is moc is only using the pieces from 2 sets. Probably because of this, Ming Thein made some weird constructions (because of the lack of parts) that makes it less logical and less easy to figure out what's happening

I'm in doubt and I'm wondering if anyone has some good advice: I have a bunch of storage drawers for my LEGO. I've seen more people here that have the same drawers as I have. You can see a picture of them (I have 2 versions of the boxes) here. My doubt is: shall I make labels? The drawers have a small space where one can put labels. I've been designing and measuring a bit and I made some prototypes. You can see the one for the big drawers (dark gray ones) here and the small drawers (transparant ones) here. Note that the images aren't the correct ones. The labels should be folded btw, top rectangle to bottom and bottom rectangle to top, to make them a little sturdier. The labels have 4 squares to show the color(s) and a name/number and a small image. If a drawer contains 2 parts, the image will be deleted and only the color and name/number are left (2 times). If a drawer has 3 parts, only name+number will be left. Anyway, hope that's a bit understandable But, don't mind my designs or anything like that, my main concern is: should I invest all the time constructing the labels, or shall I just go on without them?
