Finally the ship was here for Captain Emile Perreault. The Athena. She was smaller than the pirate ship he had been quartermaster on, but this was a new start for him. The sloop's size didn't bother him. He knew he would be able to get new ships, if he worked hard and proved his worth to the glorious Empire of Olean. Four cannons. He had seen worse. Emile knew what he could do with four cannons and the crew he had if things went south. The Athena felt right. the crew took her out of the harbor to see how she sailed. Almost divine. The cargo space was enough for their needs at the time. Emile knew his crew was ready for glory, honor, and riches. Henri the boy in the rigging even offered up some prayers for a safe voyage in their coming endeavors. Emile couldn't help but smile at the boy's optimism. Rene was stern, as ever. He had to be, Emile reasoned. Gilbert and William were trying the best they could to practice fighting int he somewhat tight space. Emile made a mental note that the next ship should have some space for those two to duke it out; they were bound to do it again, be it on friendly sober terms or drunk terms. Randall couldn't stop letting out "whoops" as The Athena cut through the calm waters. Jean of course was making sure the powder was dry. Emile felt a small smile creep across his face. This was going to be a good adventure, the one he had been searching for. As for building notes, this was my first time building a ship this small, so scaling down what I've normally done was a challenge, but I think I managed. It also was my first time building a ship with individual bricks rather than the pre-fab hulls. I looked a lot to Garmadon's Fog-Breaker and CGH's El Gran Gin. As always, the stern gave me trouble; I just find that part of the ship incredibly difficult to make. For my first sloop, I think she turned out rather well and I'm proud of this one. Hope everyone liked the MOC as well as the first bit of story into Emile Perreault and his fine crew.

The Empire of Oleon: Sign-up and Discussion
KotZ replied to Sebeus I's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Captain Emile Perreault of The Athena Emile Perreault comes from a decent family in the city. Not rich, but not poor. Thirsting for adventure, and also as a way to escape Oleon, Emile signed up with a cutthroat group of pirates and sails the seas. Along the way, he was able to become quartermaster of the crew and earned respect among his crewmates. A year after becoming quartermaster, Emile started yearning for something greater. What it was, he wasn't sure. It was at this point he returned home for Oleon, with several of his crewmates in tow. Back in Oleon, he realized he did miss sailing, but wanted to do more. With that, Emile Perreault decided he must become a privateer for the Empire and help expand her horizons. Perhaps he can even start a colony at some point. Now, he waits for The Athena to be ready for him to ship out. To the left of the picture are Rene and Gilbert. Rene is now the quartermaster, and Gilbert is the boatswain. Behind Emile is Henri, a former powder monkey now Rigger. The man with the pegleg is Randall, the sailing master. The gentleman with the ax is William, a pirate from Corrington who now swears allegiance to Oleon and serves as the head of the boarding crew. The sitting man in front is Jean, the master gunner. -
I read that LDD is fine for general builds and all. That still the case? I'm currently away from my collection and LDD is the only way for me to build right now. The EGS seems like a lot to take in, but I think I'll figure it out.

I think I'm going to jump in on this too. I've been getting a pirate/Age of Sails itch again. Just now doing research on factions.

Great work! I love Black Sails as well, and you did a great job capturing the look of Nassau. That's got to be Rogers and Eleanor in the back there. Where's Max? The MOC looks like it's right out of one of the new episodes.

I'm still in the drafting stages of my next quest, and I'd love to QM again, I've just been swamped this semester and there's no end in sight.

When I saw The Lego Batman Movie, I thought of Heckz when Robin ripped his pants off.

"Fur. Everywhere. And quick to anger. I tried reasoning with one, well sort of. That didn't go too well. But we stopped him trying to kill a king."
-
I bought the Mr. Freeze Ice Attack set.
-
"Just once," she replies before taking a sip from her mug. "I went on a trip with him to Dastan on an airship. Fought some Pongcanae. It wasn't an easy fight, that one."
-
"Anyone interested in another Fields run?"
-
"Just some whispers, nothing really. She's not part of Heroica, but we met while we were working with the Dragonlord."
-
"I agree." Kiray sits back down, once she's sure no one will do anything rash. "I heard rumors about an old assassin friend of mine. I hoped I would see her again. But I haven't heard anything since."
-
Kiray quickly stands up, hand going to her katana when she saw Germ's hands. "Easy there, everyone. Don't want us to all get kicked out of here. PErhaps everyone should put the mead down for a bit and cool off."
-
"Hopefully we get to test these out soon. If you want, I can let you try one out if we get a chance."
-
"You know, that's just what I'll do," Kiray responds to Keliim. She steps out of the Hall and goes to the marketplace. When she returns with her upgraded weapons, she shows them off. "Finally found a use for that venom of mine."
-
Kiray steps into the market after a long time of being away. Knowing what to do, she goes immediately to Anwyl. "Hi, Anwyl, can you do these for me?" She hadns him a slip of paper. Anwyl Mythralize's her Katana, (1014-100-914 gold). And then the blacksmith's writ is used on the crosswbow. She also uses the Everlasting Venom on the crossbow. "Thanks." She turns to go back to the hall.
-
Alright, so I have the mythril and the blacksmith's writ. I'm not sure which item to use on what weapon/shield. I'm curious if I should mythralize the katana or the crossbow, and then the blacksmith go for the other one, vice versa, or a different weapon/shield entirely.
-
"Aren't the training grounds closed?" Kiray chimes in. "Although you could fight in here. Not sure how Scherezade would feel about that."
-
That's great! I love how you used the skeleton arms for icicles. And those trees are fantastic.
-
"Hmm, I'll have to think about it, Germ." She holds up her mythril and blacksmith writ. "I'm still trying to decide what I should use these on."
-
"I'm sorry about your bondage," Kiray says before taking a sip of her drink. "Although words probably don't really help things in the past. Destroying Zoot's an admirable goal. I mean not possible but at least followers and darkness. I always wondered if we're pawns of those greater than us, be it Houses or gods, or who knows what. Then you have to think maybe we're not and people just happen to fall into those situations." She turns to Germ. "How much for that mushroom?"
-
"Fairly interesting," Kiray replies as she sits down with them. "Any specific reason why you're a 'demon' hunter? Must've been odd working with Germ out in the Fields. Hel, there was a time I would've whacked Germ myself if I was what you are now."
-
Kiray moves her way up to Keliim. "That's an interesting look there. Looks good. How'd you come to choose this?" She sticks a hand out for the wolf to sniff. "So much better than cats. Those things are the worst. I can't even think around them."
