  1. Thank you for comment. By the way I was asking myself many times what kind of strange loader is this B model from set 8416...
  2. Thank you all for your comments! I put actuators as close to each other as possible so this part of model is 11 studs wide - 2 studs more than it should be according to chosen scale. There were between 200 and 300 left over parts when I finished building and at least 1/3 of them were pins. I plan to make building instructions just it will take me some time. I think stickers shouldn't affect overall look much and you can face most of them inside the model... You are right that models of skidders are pretty rare. I can remember just two official models (B models of set 42029 and 8439) and C-model from 42054 built by BrickbyBrickTechnic.
  3. Let me introduce you my latest alternative model built out of set 42081 - wheel skidder. I planned to build skidder for a long time and set 42081 looked like ideal resource of parts for it. I took most inspiration from CAT 525C and log loader built by M_longer. I used M_longer's grapple design and his statement: worked like challenge for me. My skidder features: articulated HoG steering lifting of decking blade dual-function arch working grapple All functions are operated by orange axle joiners. BUILDING INSTRUCTIONS are available at rebrickable.com With few logs... Any comments are welcome.
  4. Interesting machine and model. I like how you extended reach of linear actuators.
  5. Building instructions for alien queen are already available at buildinst.cz
  6. 14. Nighthawk Tribute Nighthawk is name of LEGO Technic set 8412 that I got when I was child. I liked its tilting rotor and overall design inspired by Bell 47. Now I've built this studless tribute model that has all features of original one plus few more. And it is also alternative model built only out of parts from set 42077. Functions: crank for spinning both rotors lever in cockpit for tilting main rotor in two axes (this is not realistic function but it is reproduction of functionality of set 8412) fake six-cylinder flat engine with moving pistons adjustable seat in cockpit Dimensions: lenght: 65 cm width: 20 cm height: 27 cm number of parts: about 800 Video: Discussion topic:
  7. Thank you all for your comments! Yes, I plan to create building instructions for it and put them to others at buildinst.cz
  8. Thank you for comment. Thank you for comment. Yes, I've built it only out of parts from set 42077. Panels on tail are not structurally important but I ran out of liftarms so I used panels instead of them. It would look too empty without them...
  9. Thank you for comment.
  10. I am done and these are pictures of finished model: These pictures show effect of tilting main rotor in two axis: And detail of vertically mounted fake engine:
  11. Hi all, when I saw new The LEGO Movie 2 sets I fell in love with Ultrakatty set 70827 and began thinking about what else I can build out of this set. The first idea was to build Ultrapuppy but I was not able to give it cool enough appearance and personality. Then I got another idea that excited me much: What about giving Emmet and Lucy real alien that would fight with those Duplo monsters? ...and it should be the coolest alien of all - alien queen! "Who is cooler alien now?" I tried to build her as close to original as possible with limited sort of parts in set so I added such details as second jaw, big collar behind head and many thorns on back and tail. I also had to forfeit some details like the second pair of hands on chest and use pretty "wild" color scheme. Finished model features good articulation and big feet gives it some stability. I hope you like it. Any comments are welcome.
  12. This formula 1 looks pretty cool. I like its clean design. How many left over parts remained?
  13. WOW! Your helicopter has incredible functionality and it also looks good. Great job!
  14. You had really interesting way to find idea for your contest model. And I like your initial Fokker very much. It is so small, simple and cute. Good luck with your final idea.
  15. Thank you for comments. Yes, this is serious issue both visual and functional. Since main rotor was hitting tail I moved it 3 studs lower and it also improved look. Since I'm dealing with serious lack of liftarms I decided to cover tail with panels. Some types of this helicopter like Bell 47H-1 had also enclosed fuselage so I think it will be fine. I did it and it really looks better. So I applied few structural and visual changes and got this fully functional prototype. It became pretty huge - it is more than 60 cm (2 feet) long. Now I'm going to take it apart to finish structural changes and make part replacements to improve color scheme and details like dashboard.
  16. Let me introduce you what I was working on last week - it is going to be helicopter loosely inspired by Bell 47. I call it Nighthawk because it is also my tribute to set 8412 that I got when I was child. I will feature: crank for spinning both rotors fake six-cylinder flat engine with moving pistons lever in cockpit for tilting main rotor (this is not realistic function but it is reproduction of functionality of set 8412) Since I build almost exclusively alternative models this helicopter is no exception. I only use parts from rally car 42077. And now some pictures of my progress: Initial proof of concept to ensure that I have enough gears Prototype of cab with seat and lever The first assembly of whole helicopter (before I took it apart for structural upgrades)
  17. I tried to put them there but I don't like result. It could be good if they were LBG instead of DBG.
  18. Building instructions for this buggy are available at buildinst.cz now.
  19. I would like to introduce you alternative model built out of little set 42045 - helicopter. This set contains just 180 pieces so building alternative model from them was pretty difficult and challenging. My helicopter has even few functions - it features two-cylinder fake engine and if you turn gear under tail rotor, pistons in engine will move and main rotor blade will spin. If you want to build it you can download building instructions from my website buildinst.cz
  20. I like this contest and will definitely build something for it. I've just finished this little helicopter but I think it is too simple for attacking first places in contest...
  21. I like how you made mechanism for claw. I plant to build skidder out of this set so I will definitely get inspiration from your model.
  22. Thank you all for your comments. Differential is in left over parts...
  23. Let me introduce you my latest alternative model - Dune Buggy built out of set 42075 (First Responder). This buggy is my tribute to two special sets: 8829 (my very first LEGO set) and 8048 (the set that definitely ended my dark age). It features front axle steering, rear axle suspension, V2 fake engine and opening cab cage same as original models. I wanted to add differential but it would make engine block too high so it has just "one wheel drive". I hope you will like and any comments are welcome.
