Does anyone have good examples of mixing elements of medieval or "Castle" armies with more modern ones (for example the Pirates line)?. I'm trying to mix my Castle soliders with my Pirates troops for a more modern looking army. Pics or links would be appreciated

Thanks a lot.

I'm wondering if anyone could tell me if you can fit a wide-brim helmet and a small backpack on a minifig at the same time or do the two pieces get in each others way. I don't have my LEGO with me so I can't check myself. Thanks

Buy a set simply to sell it for profit?
BearHeart replied to Danpb's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I bought a few sets with the intention of reselling them. However, I decided not to bother with it and I might end up opening and building them in the future. I'm not planning to buy any more sets for the purpose of making a profit. IMO, you have to buy really big sets and hold on to them for years for it to be worthwhile. I see no point in buying a $30 set to make a $20 profit in three or four years. -
I can't believe so many people don't plan on buying the big castle. IMHO, its WAAYY better looking and a better design than the castle form King's Castle Siege.

Thanks for the review. The new torsos and shields look great! This new theme is looking awesome! Can't wait to see the bigger sets

His website doesn't even work... SPAM! If he even took the time to look through the Front Page he would have seen that someone already reviewed one of the Summer 2010 summer sets.

LOL!! Did you also know that humans have been to the moon. Really, I'm not kidding. Look it up!

Those brown barrel covers will sure come in handy!

Round Trees, Pine Trees, Pitchforks, Hooded headwear (see Wolfpack), Baby horses (wait, did they even exist or did I dream that?).

I noticed that the paint on the chrome longswords from the castle themes chips on the handles where the minifig holds it.

Lego discovery in the digital age
BearHeart replied to David Thomsen's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I both agree and disagree with the OP. I was actually thinking the same thing a while ago about how through the online LEGO community the suprise of seeing new sets in stores is totally removed. I usually see a bunch of preliminary pictures as well as a review before a set arrives in a store near me. When I think about it, its both a good and bad thing. The bad thing is obvioulsy the fact that there is no more "suprise" sets. But then again, leaked pictures, toy fair pics etc. kind of replace the experience of a seeing a new set in a store. The good thing is that now I get to see every set in detail before I decide whether to purchase it or not. When I came out of my dark age I ended up buying a lot of sets that I now have no use for now simply because of the "wow" factor of seeing them in a store for the first time. With reviews and the tonnes of pics I look at now before actually seeing a set in a store, I can decide which sets I really like and which are usefull to me. Thanks to reviews, I was able to avoid buying the Atlantis sets which I originally planned on buying but then decided against it after seeing upclose reviews. -

I’m planning on building a medieval tower fort and I need some help. I’m planning on making the tower three levels high and using corner panel walls (see pic below) on each corner for a total of 12 corner panels. My problem is that I don’t know how to create a nice, smooth transition from floor to floor because of the irregular shape of the corner pieces. (If I use regular baseplates for floors then there will be a piece of baseplate sticking out in the corner.). I also want to use as few baseplate pieces for each floor as possible, so one big one rather than two or three smaller ones. I’m looking for ideas to overcome this problem. PS. I’m dead set on using the corner pieces

Looks good so far. It must be hard building the whole thing sideways

Why do people buy new sets and never open them?
BearHeart replied to Ambo100's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Also, Im in a situation where I'm living with my in-laws because my wife and I are waiting for our new house to be built and all my LEGO is sitting in my parents basement about 200km away. -

Mostly big Star Wars sets. But I only have a few unopened sets that I'm planning on sellng someday. I decided to make LEGO a hobby instead of a money-making thing. -

1) Buy set 2) Sit on it for 5 years. 3) Sell set -
Yeah, I was thinking of using that myself too. I just want to know if there are any other (maybe better) methods.

I have lots of unopened sets for two reason: 1) I havent gotten around to opening/building them because of time or location contraints. 2) I bought certain sets with the plan to sell them later on for a profit once they become rare and unopened sets are worth WAY more than opened ones. -
I'm wondering about the best slope roof building technique using large flat baseplates. What is the best way to attach them to the rest of the structure for a good, sturdy outcome Here are some examples of what I mean: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=6086-1 http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=4757-1
