  1. I'm eagerly waiting too. Seeing these pics is the highlight of my day today.... thats sad, I know
  2. I remember reading that the jester set never had this problem, only the soldiers did. The prison carriage set would not have this problem because it doesnt have any soldiers with large amounts of white on the torsos. Only this type of torse has the pink problem: The prisoner carriage set has this torso:
  3. Ok take a deep breath an relax..... you ok? lol I'm entitled to my opinion and there's no need to personally attack me. There is a HUGE difference in the quality of a LEGO minifig from a regular set and a Collectible Series" fig, the plastic these figures are made out of feels lighter and looks worse - just compare a minifig head and hands, the yellow color is way off. My only fear is that this cheap plastic will creep into, and eventually take over, regular sets as well. That would pretty much be the end of my LEGO hobby. And yes, I'm the type of person who will pay more money for more quality so I'd be willing to pay $1 to $1.50 more if these figs were made out of quality material.
  4. I've never read the books but I like the dark, gothic, screepy feel fo the HP sets (that includes the minifigs, unique parts and color scheme).
  5. I'm dissapointed with Series 3. The only figures I want to get is an elf, mummy, samurai and chief; and only one of each this time. Maybe thats a good thing, given the fact that these things are so hard to find, now have no barcode and are made of cheap plastic.
  6. LOL what a silly question . Lets see, you can: - Throw them out. - Send them back to LEGO. - Bury them. - Give them away. - Leave them in your LEGO bin. - Sell them - Hide them in the back of your closet. Personally, I'm thinking of using the pink torsos for figures that will be wearing armour. That way, you can't really see the torso underneath.
  7. I guess it depends on the individual. It doesn't bother you but it bother others. I personally think the pink looks horrible and like I mentioned before, its something I noticed right away when I took the piece out of the box. Luckily, from what I read here and on other sites, LEGO customer service will replace any pink torsos with properly printed ones.
  8. Like I said, kids won't notice this but AFOLs will. LEGO is expensive and if I'm going to pay their prices I expect the product to be top notch. This issue HAS been acknowledged by LEGO which means that if you can't see the difference between the pink and white then you probably need to get your eyes checked.
  9. From the prelim pic, I can see myself buying a small set or two just for the parts (Maybe a large set if its really good and its on sale). Like someone else mentioned, I think this theme has a lot more potenial than the World Races theme.
  10. I missed out on a lot of the early sets too because of my dark age. I love HP sets because of the details in them that you don't see in other themes and because of the neat little pieces most sets are packed with. The figs and color scheme are great too. The parts are great for historic and fantasy MOCs and fit well with other themes like Castle, Pirates and Indiana Jones. I think if I could collect only one theme, it would be HP.
  11. To me, it makes no sense to compare price to # of parts. I mean, some parts, like a 1x1 round stud are tiny while others, like BURPS or animals are pretty big. I look at the set as a whole to decide wether its worth its price. You're gonna pay a lot more for a horse piece on the second-hand market than for a 1x1 stud.
  12. Sweet! I'm still having doubts but the more news we get the more it sounds like this will be a revival of adventurers style sets rather than a Power Miners/Atlantis/Agents clone theme.
  13. Scroll up A small number of people (especially kids) might not notice it but the vast majority of people do, so much in fact that LEGO has acknowledged the problem. I noticed the 'pink' right away from personal observation without even knowing about the issue previously. I opened the box and was like "WTF, why is the torso pink?"
  14. Too bad there won't be barcodes on Series 3. All I really want is a few elves, gorillas, mummies, samurais and an indian chief or two.
  15. Temple of Atlantis and Angler Fish Attack sound great: lots of fantasy adventure elements which I like. Gotta see some pics to make a final judgement though.
  16. The color scheme sounds good.
  17. I'm excited! I can't wait to see pics of the Egypt theme. I missed out on pretty much the whole adventurers series 10 years ago so I'm looking forward to this one. I hope they use the PoP desert color scheme.
  18. One of the many HP sets I missed out on while I was in my dark age. I managed to get my hands on the 2005 wave but the wave that this set was in was already over by the time I started collecting :(. I'm so glad LEGO revived the HP theme, the sets are always so detailed and come with great parts.
  19. Just to clarify, the problem is not that the paint on the figures is pink, its that the white paint is applied in such a thin coat that the red plastic comes through and gives the white paint a pink hue.
  20. Yes, they are the 'luxury' brick but they need to focus even more now on staying there. That means a high quality product and no "experimenting" with cheaper plastic and production methods.
  21. I think LEGO needs to really focus on becoming the "luxury" brick, meaning high quality plastic with the inevidable high price. It really needs to differeciate itself and standout from the competitors and high quality is the best was to do that. Its other choice is to cut quality and cut prices but then it would just become another member of the pack and loose its name brand appeal. I really hope that LEGO takes the first route because for the last few years, the quality of the plastic has been pretty dissappointing and thats a shame because the actual sets and designs have been really good.
  22. This is a great sum-up! PoP was a great theme for many reasons even though it lasted only one wave. As mentioned, it gave us tonnes of new pieces and colors, two new animals and a great printed mod of the horse piece. The PoP pieces can be used in Indiana Jones MOCs because of the similar themes and locations as well as history, fantasy and desert MOCs. I personally got every set except for "Quest against Time" and I got multiples of the smaller sets. There's a sale at my local TRU on PoP sets right now and I'm tempted to pick up some more of them before they're gone forever :).
  23. Just a quick question: Are the camels in the "Battle of Alamut" and "Fight for the Dagger" sets the same color or are they different shades?
  24. I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but I think one of the dementor heads is misprinted. If you look at the inventory page you'll see that it has the one dementor head listed as x2 so both of them should be the same.
  25. I've been lucky in that for both Series 1 and Series 2 I managed to 'stumble' across them at my local store. I wasn't looking for them because I wasn't expecting them to be out on sale yet but both times I wondered thorugh the LEGO isle and was surpised to see the minifigs out for sale already. I picked up multiple copies of only the figures I was intersted in (maybe 4 or 5 figures per series). I'm into fantasy/history MOCs with a touch of sci-fi so only a few of the figs appealed to me. And yes, their quality is not up to par with regular LEGO sets but if you mix up the parts and create your own figs (like I do) the quality issue is not as noticable.
