Hello and welcome to Eurobricks, BRU! Now, that's what I call a great introduction! Nice MOCs! You have already left the beginners stage and doing the advanced stuff. To bad you missed out on the technic contest about rides this year. Just search the forum with the phrase "[TC14]".

Hi Dazzzy and welcome to Eurobricks! Thanks for the nice words concerning your view on EB so far! I hope it stays that way. Building digitally is nothing to be ashamed of. We have wonderful MOCs here made with LDD and others. We planned to have a digital contest this years, but then life came in our way... Stay tuned. It will be held in 2019. For sure!

Hi Migueal and welcome to Eurobricks! Wow - directly into technics! Brave. I'm more the system guy. What is your challenge is my doom. Mind to share some of your creations here?
-
Hi Andres and welcome to Eurobricks! Way to go! We are eagerly awaiting your MOCs. What theme are you planning?

You can find a review of this set here. As mentioned above: available from 1st of January on.

DISCLAIMER This set has been kindly provided by the CEE Team of TLG. Here’s my opinion about it. As I’m still not paid for this review you can expect an objective voice of an AFOL on the set. SET INFORMATION Number: 40341 Title: sea accessories Theme: xtra Released: 2019 Part Count: 24 + 8 spares Weight: 24 gram Set Price (RRP): € 3,99 Price per Part: € 0,12 Links: Brickset, Bricklink You may have noticed the new xtra label when visiting a LEGO brand store or Legoland this year (I'm not sure if TLC sells it elsewhere in the wild). It’s a 2018's new subtheme which comes in polybags to complete or fill up your everyday LEGO city life. In the range there are three different playmats: 853840 Road Playmat, 853841 Sea Playmat and 853842 Park Playmat for 7,99€ each. Also we see Bicycles (40313), Streetlamps (40312), Traffic Lights (40311), Botanical Accessories (40310) and Food Accessories (40309) all of which are tagged 3,99 €/$ This set will be available from the 1st of January 2019 on. This is what TLS advertises: “Add an ocean theme to your LEGO® creations with this LEGO xtra 40341 Sea Accessories set, featuring shark, parrot and fish figures and a selection of accessories including an oar, harpoon, surfboard and flippers. Also includes an opening seashell, empty barrel and a chest for storing the smaller accessories included with this set. LEGO® xtra Sea Accessories set includes a surfboard, opening shell, barrel, oar, harpoon, opening chest, treasure map and binoculars, plus shark, parrot and fish figures and a selection of LEGO elements. Bring new ocean-themed adventures to existing LEGO® sets. LEGO® xtra accessory sets are delivered in a sealed plastic bag.” Yep, and that’s pretty much it. There is no minifigs, just accessories. Here are the parts: Besides the parrot who is only available in Assembly Square so far (avg. price at Bricklink today 1,35€!!), nothing to get really excited about or with rarity / limited availability. All in all a nice selection of parts. And the traditional leftovers, from which you can build a second harpoon, yay! There is one little problem though: You have to have sets or at least minifigures to fit this accessory pack to. But where does it fit? It’s not clearly city, neither is it pirates. It’s something in between. Here's a go what can be done: The only currently available theme it will fit to is last years harbour subtheme. And it really fits well with the ideas old fishing store! FINAL It’s unfair to rate this ‘set’ with the normal aspects of building experience, playability and so on. It’s just an accessory and it’s made fairly well for exact this purpose. With less than 4 €/$ it’s good value for your money, easily afforable and a good addition to your cities beach/ocean layout. An it was fun to play around with the parts to make the photos! If you don't have another reason, get it for the parrot! Still my recommendation is limited to those who haven’t got a decent marine collection yet. It is definitely not targeted at AFOLs!

I start looking for these when it's clear where they come from. For now I doubt it's genuine LEGO. Hello and welcome to Eurobricks! Did you check the whole topic? There are be plenty of answers... (Spoiler: Bricklink is our favourite source... )
-
Thanks for the nice and crisp review, Jim! While 42065 was a terrific set (i built one myself and bought another copy to have some race fights with my children), I don't see much sense in getting this one now. Of course it's tempting: You get two L-motors instead of M ones, but the design of the track chain limts its ability to climb. So for me it's a set I can easily pass on (while trying to put two L-motors on my 42065). If you don't have the predecessor - get this one! These cars are loads of fun to play with!
-
Thank you for doing the comparison between 42065 and 42095! By looking at the shape of the track I already thought it would be hard to compete with the 'predecessor' looking at the ability to climb. So 42065 still is my favourite. Note to myself: Try L-motors with it.

Good to know!

Well, it may sound harsh, but the example you gave might not be the best in my opinion. The entries in Copmike's wonderful advent raffle are not a great source of inspiration (this year). Have a look at the entries again and tell me if you find more than 10 entries (of almost 200) that are really MOCs and not only some bricks put together or a minifig with a red cape. The reason? Freebies. It's just that simple. I see a MOC as a kind of art and my personal understanding of art is, that a certain amount of time has to be put in it. But there is no dispute about art, is it? In all other contests I agree we do see great MOCs and extraordinary creations. Exactly my thinking. I don't like the frontpage to be covered up with MOCs when we could have important news instead. But then it's the good old "someone has to do it" discussion again. Just do it! If you ever feel an idea is good enough to open a topic about it, please never hesitate to do so! The community is living from the members who actively take part in it!

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Holodoc replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
@ncx You can argue with facts, but please refrain from working with personal insults. (It looks like you deleted the quoted phrase mentioned above. Why?) If you don't get it, I have a room for you where I can explain it in detail , but all in all I rely on your understanding that we all want a fair and friendly discussion. That aside, I don't understand anything you have said about a modular police station. Others have already stated: Fire Brigade is the best example that all your thoughts and explanations are simply wrong and TLC DID decide different in the past. Sorry! -
??? Am I the only one not being able to see what you uploaded? If not, please re-upload it again.

Hello and a very warm welcome to Eurobricks, Masao! It's good to have you around! Thank you indeed for not just looking at the topic, but replying here, too! Your works have been a wonderful resource of inspiration (as you can see here: all around the globe!), I hope you continue and give us some nice insights in your work. It will be deeply appreciated! If you feel like, you can tell a bit more about yourself in this topic. -
I go with Coopa and say dark pink. It surely looks darker than bright pink (piggy guy CMF 12) and a lot brighter than magenta. Just like my explanantion on page 2.

1) We all know the personal reasons behind being active or not and I believe almost all of us who have stayed here for more than a couple of years have experienced the same. That's simply life. And there's nothing bad about it. 2) I know what you are talking about. Not expecially here but in general I feel a bit confused and worried when a) a discussion stops when I enter b) my voice isn't heard at all. And I agree - it's not EB-specific. 3) See point 1. Nowadays there isn't much activity in the academy. I don't know a particular reason, but in general we are a bit low on extreme active staff members right now. I hope this to change soon though. Speaking of reviews I myself have posted a review about the new Statue of Liberty. It took me a couple of hours to do it and looking at your comment I strongly believe it's the way of reviews you like and appreciate, because I covered a lot of aspects. To date I got more than 2000 views and replies from 11 members. So it comes to 2 members for each hour I have worked on that review. Figure out yourself if that is satisfying. Don't get me wrong: I had lots of fun doing the review and I simply love the set - so that's not a problem for me getting so few replies. Sure I would have loved to draw more attention, but that's a point I can't change. So it's less reviews an the one hand and less attention/appreciation to the ones existing on the other hand. Which leads me to: I think the frontpage needs an overhaul. Something like 'corners of interest': One for MOCs, one for reviews, etc. and the main space for news. Just a quick idea that came to my mind. Then we need techies to transform our ideas into forum software... [volunteers welcome] You are heavily working on it! So if anybody wants to reply - please do it in the respective threads (see links above). Thanks!
-
Yep, we dove have that sort of sales here, too. But I strongly believe the time to make bargains is over. Nowadays almost everyone knows about the value of LEGO.
-
Thanks for the replies, guys! Any further information about your background of browsing EB is helpful and of course appreciated! @rodiziorobs Nice goal to work on! Fingers crossed you can stick to it!

'Good haul' is always depending on what you are looking for... In this case I would tend to the answer "Yes", but only after having taken a glance at the goodies you posted photos of. I would not have bought the offer just by looking at the one photo you have mentioned first. It didn't seem to consist of many worthy pieces. But your idea behind it didn't mislead you: I have noticed the knight minifig first and parts like this are always lead to something interesting. Even more with the yellow bricks. You did find some nice bricks after all: The mentioned antenna of course! And just like you stated - unbroken!!! They are selling for around 15€ at BL (you can find all 10 sets it came in here.) Then the yellow lifting mechanism for the drawbridge of set 375 and the wonderful Classic Space bricks with printing in an almost mint condition! I also noticed some of the older windows which may become handy in some MOCs just bcause of their unusual proportions (1x4x2). So, yep - good haul! More than 10 years ago (that good ol' times y'know... )I found this photo in an offer: It was on sale for 10 (TEN!) Euros... And the old lady was relieved to get rid of what she found in the attic. I instantly knew the ship from the box (6285) would be buildable. And I was right. This alone were the figs that came with the offer: There were so many 'leftovers' after having build Black Seas Barracuda that I sold this rest for more than 10 €...

If you want a real LEGO fan giving you a cool breeze in the summer - and you don't want to MOC - you will have to obtain (the hard to get) set 9688. This is the only set to come with six of those blades . This is the final result:
