50th Anniversary of the 4x2 Lego Brick celebration
Brainbox replied to Siegfried's topic in General LEGO Discussion
My local radio yesterday morning had a phone-in on the subject, asking people about what sets they had as a child, what they remember as their coolest MOC (they didn't actually say MOC, and they seemed to ignore the AFOL community, but never mind), and one guy rang in and said he was off to a school to teach robotics with Mindstorms. He said it was his "dream job." Sadly I missed it, as I was in bed, but my dad told me afterwards. -
And to add insult to injury, you could use one of the minifig weapons. Or would the blood be a problem? ;-)

Hopefully it'll be a fairly widespread tour, spanning the whole country, not just small parts of it. As in, I hope it comes near me! It's be okay if it was the shopping centres though. It's a fairly logical solution to cover large area of the country. As long as it comes to the Trafford Centre ;-) .

Ah, good. I look forward to seeing it. I think I might have a short break from new MOCs now that I've finished my Neighbourhood contest entry, as I need to clear a fairly substantial photography backlog. So many MOCs, so little actual MOC sharing :-| .

Quite a nice video, with some pretty cool effects. Not sure how the Bond music is relevant though. -
50th Anniversary of the 4x2 Lego Brick celebration

It's 50 years since the patent was completed for the stud-and-tube design brick. The older design (with the slits) was from a few years before. -
Well... we never have any visitors over to our house anyway, so it's not really a problem! :-D Anyway, seriously, my parents occasionally take an interest in what I'm working on, and my MOCs/MODs are all over my wall (on shelves obviously), so it's pretty hard not to look at them. My sister doesn't want to go near my Lego (that, and she's not allowed in my room ;-) ), so that's not a problem either. The only other people who might be near my Lego are my friends, and I trust them enough to be sensible and respect my intricate sorting system(s) and pre-built MOCs/MODs. Besides, I'd be there anyway, so they'd be under constant supervision. No one would go near my Lego when I wasn't there either, as it's all in my bedroom, and I'm not too keen about people going in when they shouldn't, especially without me there.

50th Anniversary of the 4x2 Lego Brick celebration

That's correct. Loads of my friends had seen the Google logo this morning, but didn't know why it was there until I mentioned it this afternoon. -
Yesterday evening, I had a four and a half hour rehersal for the panto. We got some food in, and it arived before we'd actually done any rehersing. :-| Still, for the first rehersal with mics, props and sets, it wasn't too bad. Only trouble is, the performance is about four weeks away... Today, I got up early (for once), photographed my entry for the Neighbourhood contest, and I'm just about to get something to eat.

Andrex here with a Lego Batman Screenshot Blowout!

I agree. They weren't in LSW, so they shouldn't be here. I think it was a picture that didn't work for a lot of people (me included). -
50th Anniversary of the 4x2 Lego Brick celebration

The Google one really surprised me earlier this morning (woke me up a bit as well, as I laughed cheerily), so that was a nice touch. Happy Birthday Lego brick. Suffice to say, I may have to mention it in college this afternoon... And it's always nice to see Lego in the mainstream media. -
Not exactly no, but I think it's towards the end of February. I, too, look forward to seeing the other Bat-sets. Provided they're there that is.
-
Nice MODs there Canticleer. It definitely looks better now, and while I'm not fussed on Two-Face being on the roof at all, you said you were going for playability so that's okay. Like Batbrick said, I look forward to seeing more. :-)
-
And mine's up too. I'll probably make a thread for my entry eeing as how it need quite a lot of pictures, but that's an as and when thing. Finally ha the time to look through the other entries as well. Some really good stuff there guys, it'll be a close competition.

B-RV-9A Finally I've finished my entry, and so here it is. Seeing as how my sigfig is, well, me, I wanted a house that was relatively ordinary, but still with the spirit of me. So this is what I came up with: It's a normal looking town house, yes, but there's more than just that inside. Well, alright not much more. It's mostly a normal house, with a kitchen and dining room on the bottom, and a bathroom, bedroom (you can't see it here) and living room on the top. There's also the loft space and the hidden lair under the kitchen/dining room >:-) . See if you can guess which room is which. ;-) See the thread. BS Gallery Make sure to check through all three (yes, 3!) pages.

The Joker never really dies, though, does he? Even when he seems to be gone forever, he always crops up. Even if he's not coming back (as a character) for a third film, his presence will still haunt Gotham. Of course the film will be dedicated to Heath, how could they not? I suppose it's a little consolation that his last role looks to be so iconic. Sad news indeed.
-
You know, he only actually "reversed the polarity of the neutron flow" twice on screen, one in the Sea Devils and once in The Five Doctors. He's even explained to the Brigadier (in a radio serial) that the phrase is meaningless! He did reverse the polarity of other things though, including the sonic screwdriver. Some more nice MOCs there Mr Spielbrick.
-
Yes, it is: http://www.brickset.com/detail.aspx?Set=7782-1 It's difficult to tell if Batbrick's MODed it, but it looks like he hasn't. Or at least not in any major way.

Welcome to EB. Like *vader* said, it's always good to see more people from the UK.
-
Happy Birthday guys, have a good day. :-)
-
I have to say, I've not really seen him in anything, but this still comes as a shock, and it's still a tragedy. A lot of people at college were certainly quite affected by the news yesterday to varying degrees, and my friend said her mum was really upset. My thoughts go out to his family, and all those people who've worked with him and who knew him.

Argos has loads of new lego! UK.
Brainbox replied to mutley777's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
All that said about Woolies though, I called into the worse of the two that are nearest to me today, and managed to pick up 3 sets. Not much new stuff over all though, so that's probably all I'll buy from there till Summer :-D The Lego had been moved as well, from a shelf with lots of room to stand in front of (good, as I have my bag usually) to a realy thin aisle |-/ -
When have I ever been subtle? ;-)
-
Oh, come on. Everyone knows t's so that people like me don't go "but back in #whatever..." Riddler? He's pretty iconic. I agree. While it's not a classic set, it's certainyl quite promising. It's a cheap(er) way of getting both Robin and the Penguin, it's another vehicle for Robin to go with hie speedboat/jetski, and it's got more of those fantastically cute penguins. So it's another sub for Pengy. So what? It looks cool, and it hearkens back to the uber-camp 60s series/movie, where he had... a submarine. "Did he leave a name?" "Er... a Mr P.N.Guinn." Fantastic! Because they can be used in vigs, mini-vigs, display MOCs (like Arkham or the Batcave), or perhaps as Batcave trophys. If not, they're cool parts. Question mark t-shirt, anyone?
