Oh I agree. How great would a proper, 'real' trenchcoat be? Frankly the trenchcoat is Gordon, you can't have him without it. And I'd prefer the older Gordon too.

Watched two films on TV yesterday. The first was 'Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.' Okay, so not a classic film, but very enjoyable nonetheless. I quite liked the almost dream-like, retro, cartoonish look of the visuals. And the modified plane was pretty cool. *wub* The second was 'The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.' Ashamedly I've never actually managed to read the graphic novel, so I can't comment on how close the film was to the source material. But again, it was an enjoyable film, with some classic characters (which they should be, seeing as how they're all 'literary greats') and a fantastic concept (albeit that was from Alan Moore). And they're the only Christmas films I want to watch. Boy, it's going to be a fun holiday. :-D

And a warm (unlike here where it's cold and wet) 'Merry Christmas' from me to everyone here on EB. And of course to all those not celebrating Christmas, but rather some other festival or occasion.

For me, it's nothing that's not already been said. EB's a lace where I can talk about something I love, and share my hobby with people who can really appreciate it (thanks guys). That's not something I can do every day, seeing as how I don't know ayone IRL who shares my hobbies (Lego, TF, comics, etc). That's another thing. I can talk about other things than Lego here, with people who know what I'm on about. Add to that the friendly atmosphere, the relaxed nature of posting, the constant stream of (mostly leaked) news, and the friendly people, and it's just a really nice place to be. Basically, EB is a place I can't wait to come back to, so I can relax and unwind at the end of the day.

The last few days I've been down at my grandparents, to see that side of the family before Christmas. Coming back on Saturday, we ran into two random traffic jams on the M6 with no apparant cause. :-| Yesterday I went ot my first rehersal for the panto. Rehersals started a few months ago, but because I'm tech crew (lights) I wasn't needed til now. I've found someone to help me with sound this time, which is good, as I'm not in over my head. I get on well with her as well, which is even better. Today, I got up at 11:00, and wasted this afternoon not really doing anything. Well, it's Christmas. Glad to hear you're feeling better Batbrick :-)

Ah, very nice. I like, well, the simpleness of the vehicle. It's not overcomplicated, which is a good thing. And it transforms, which is a definite plus. Are they the only 'modes' or does it have more?
-
Arkham you've definitely got, even if it's only to get Ivy ( *wub* ) and Nightwing. As for the BM, it's not a set I was originally going to get, focusing instead on the 'minifig' sets. That's why it took me a year to get. But I am so glad I picked it up sometime. So we've got my "more Batmobiles" obsession, and your "Commissioner Gordon" obsession. :-D

Ah, another one of us... Anyway, nice MOC. I've never actually seen the cartoon, but I know of the Aquacave (through the comics), and this successfully conveys an Aquaman-ish vibe. Of course, he uses Atlantis as a base now (well, he doesn't, he's dead), but never mind about that right now. Nice Black Manta too. *y*

Nah, it's have to be a hell of a lot bigger to be 'proper sized.' Still nice though, and definitely worth keeping an eye on.

Yes, I picked it up a couple of months ago for

Thanks UB and Mandalorian. ;-) Okay then. Maybe when it all settles down after Christmas, I can start on a few. No, but they respect my love for the brick, and take an interest in what I'm doing.

'Lost' does rather have the potential to go on... and on... and on... and on... Maybe that's why it's called 'Lost.' Because it's how the viewer begins to feel.

Went into town with some friends, and got teased for 'text flirting.' :-$
-
No I think you're right. And thanks for the compliment. So... I guess that would be breaking the fourth wave?
-
Thanks mate. Oh no, it's not a proper thing. It's more of a personal thing, like you say. I could never get my artwork to the standards of, say, comics art. I'm not very up on inking or colouring. I could try inking and colouring digitally if I had a scanner, but I don't, so tht's not really an option. Pencil crayons, and a simple outlining pen are the best I have at the moment. I think minifigs are the only thing I can draw reasonably well. I struggle a bit with people, as they never look quite right, and perspective's not really something I can do well either. So this is just something I do because I can. It may not look 'professional' but who cares? It's only going on my wall.
-
No, it's quite all right. Thanks for your kind words. I certainly hope not. But to be honest, anything that can bring superheroes into the mainstream is a plus in my book. I've got people talking to me about it that would never be interested in comics. Just another of those AFOL eccentricities I suppose.

Yeah, I liked that too. Ah, now, I've already got a Lego Bats from another art project I'm working on (classic JLA and Legion of Doom rosters), so I could just use that. Maybe alter it a bit to make it different.
-
Well, yeah, I was mainly saying that she can sometimes do it. Some writers use it, others don't. There're a pretty good Joker one in Emperor Joker when he makes a comment about being able to change the entire alphabet, and sudenly the next few text beoxes are in different shapes and squiggles: a new alphabet. Oh, yeah, yeah, sorry. I think I misread it. No not at all, please feel free. Glad to be asked, actually. :-) Also known as metafictional awareness. But 'breaking the fourth wall' sounds a lot cooler.

:-D Very nice, and very accurate. I love the cooking pots, that made me laugh quite loudly (thankfully I'm the only one home), and the overall look and feel of the mech is wonderful, from the design to the colour scheme. In a word... wow.

Ambush Bug, Deadpool, She-Hulk, Joker and Mr Mxyzptlk have all done it occasionally. Although Mxys is more of a cross-dimensional thing. I guess Impossible Man could do it too. Really? I hadn't heard that.

Unfortunately, nothing's happened to me either. It almost could have once, when one of my friends sold his old Lego, but bizarrely only remembered about my love for it after he'd sold it. |-/ Congratulations on you haul, though, jedikermit. -
:-D I have to admit that it wasn't quite what I was expecting when I clicked on the topic. A very clever piece of work, from the small details like the snowman and the bare twigs in the ground, to the larger ones like the ice breaking. In all, it really sums up exactly what Christmas is all about... :-D
-
Thanks guys. I didn't actually see them much yesterday (bar Alex, who loved it), so they've still not seen it. I'll take it in when we start back after Christmas. It's certainly a possibility to consider, but for now I think I'll just stick to this. :-D Strangely, yes. Oh, I totally agree with you there. You've got to be careful to make them recogniseable as minifigs, but still make them just cartoony enough to look 'soft.' I took a lot of inspiration from the art on the Batman boxes and in some instruction manuals though. It's strange you should say that, as only two of the hairstyles are technically real (mine and Kelsey's). The others are all based on real hairpieces, but aren't official themselves. As for being 'alive' I think it's the 'not so rigid' look of the figs. If you draw them too rigid with all straight lines and angles, they look a bit too minifig-ish. Draw them with curves, they look somewhat organic. For th moment I'll just show them. But when I (eventually) get my laptop, and a new printer/scanner, I may well scan or photocopy it for them. :-$ I was thinking of maybe doing this for the EB sigfigs, what do you think?
-
Thanks guys. :-) I did try to do Sylar, but couldn't get anything I was happy with. It was only a quick try though, so I'll have a good look through my parts bins. Oh, so you do. I meant it as a generalisation, so as to point out that it's only just finished here (on terrestrial TV). I will be making any and all with real pieces, and the torso actually comes from 4851. The Kiby Plaza, named after comics legend Jack Kirby. I can't actually try it with HP hair, as I don't actually own the piece in black. I'm quite happy with the EF hair though. It seems to add a bit of character to the fig.
