  1. It's the baseplate from here I'm using. I picked up this set a couple of years ago for about £30, and it's just sort of sat on my shelf since. The other week, I figured I could use it for an Arkham. For one thing, it makes the whole thing look taller, for another it provides a pretty spacious are underneath the main section for a North-West Batcave (yes, I've snuck it in), and it also allows for some semi-gothic steps. Plus, I've no other use for it. >:-) I might see if I can make some card backdrops to fill in the gaps of the shelf. It'll make the cave seem deeper (is the plan), and will conveniently block out the blue wall. Maybe I didn't notice. Or perhaps it's because this is what you put: Yeah, and my shelves hate me for it. Seriously, I've barely got any room left, and I've got to find space for Agents and Castle this year. The Bat-sets don't count, as there's already a section for the villain vehicles, or at least there will be once the old Arkham's been grafted onto the new one, and the Bat-vehicles will go in the Cave.
  2. They are. But I'm planning on getting a laptop in a couple of weeks, when they can start all over again... :-| ;-) No, you're quite correct. You know I don't think I've read Mad Monk. I certainly can't remember it if I have. And that's good. That's hopefully what I'll end up doing with Arkham and the Batcave, and probably some of the stuff inside the Cave.
  3. I'm just worried I'm not going to have enough bricks left for my Batcave shelf, which will also be copmpletely redone once I've got this year's sets. I'm using a lot of the pieces from the official, certainly, but to be honest, I don't really know quite what I'm going for. It's going to be big, and it's going to be somewhat modular (due to the baseplate), but other than that. Although, I am going for a sort of 'ugly' look, but that's mainly due to the mix of greys, bleys, browns and black. Hmm, I might think about giving mine skis and some sort of treads to make a skimobile, rather than a go-kart with absolutely no grip on icy roads. I don't know if my soon-to-be-updated Batcave could cope if it was any bigger. I've already got to squeeze in a Bat-tank and a Tumbler! I might redo some of the angles if I see the need. And I think there are only two parts to the spoiler on each side, rather than the three there should be, but I'm not too sure. Hmm, maybe I've missed one.
  4. X-D Perhaps you'd like me to ask if you've read something before I make a clever, fanboy-ish reference?
  5. I'm not at all familiar with GI Joe, but I might go and see the film anyway. I know enough to say that Snake Eyes looks really good though.
  6. I'd have to say Batman, but really I'll read anything DC. Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, GL, GA, Justice League, Titans, etc. I do quite like Babs Gordon as well. Batbrick knows all about that. ;-)
  7. My favourite out-and-out villain has to be the Joker, without a doubt. He's just such a fantastic character. But, I'm a particular fan of Bizarro, especially the most recent Bizarro #1, as my avatar will surely attest. When written well, he's such a funny character. I also have a fondness for the Ridder. And Poison Ivy, but that's a different story.
  8. Actually, he was a hero for a bit. He renounced his villainy and joined first the X-Men, then New Excalibur. But he's back to being a villain now. Hmm, I may have to see what I can find.
  9. Thanks for the review, mate. I may get this as well, so I can get Racer X. Axctually, I see what TLC's done here, splitting up the two more well-known characters, Speed and Racer X, so you have to get both sets. Visor? I'd have to agree with you with regards the helmet. I would've preferred this, especially for Speed. Interestingly, my pocket knife is the same as that one. I didn't count its appearances though.
  10. Nice work, TP. It's a stylish, characteristic facade, which could only look better as a fully-fledged building. That grim, gritty noir that Gotham does so well. Like I said (well, sort of), you've certainly capured it well. I look forward to seeing the other buildings you have planned.
  11. X-D No, nowhere near. It'll either go in Part 4 or a .5 part. Not at all. On both counts. :-$ So have I. Only I've started doing it for all my intended purchases. As far as the Bat-sets go, here's what I'm planning; Bat-Buggy: I'll remove the flame, as it's going to be stood in the Batcave. The grappling hook's going, and I'll probably add some sort of rollcage. As for Freeze's buggy, it's difficult to tell it's that small. Jet-sub/ Penguin sub: I might remove as much of the yellow as possible on Robin's sub, keeping the green and red. On Penguin's sub, the flick-fire missiles, and the shooter in the back are going, and the sub will be reconstructed without them. Batcycle/Hammer truck: I'll remove the flick fire missiles on the truck (and maybe start calling it the Hammer Hummer ;-) ), and completely rebuild the bike. Perhaops remake it as a faithful Batpod. Tumbler: On Joker's truck, yep you guessed it, the shooter is going. I might add an interior in it's place. As for the Tumbler, I'll have to see when I've got it. Apart from the shooter and the flick-fire missiles that is. Okay, make that three times.
  12. Damn computer problems... You didn't need to, but I see that you have anyway. Although this wasn't quite what I had in mind ;-) : http://www.dccomics.com/graphic_novels/?gn=3750 It's a look at the first meeting and team-up of Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman, featuring Ras, Bizarro and rogue Amazon Artemis along the way. Personally, I quitre enjoyed it, and Matt Wagner's artwork is suitably retro, especially his Bats. The Batsub in it is only similar to yours (by coincidence), as it is clearly styled after a dolphin. It has sidefins, a tailfin and a dorsal fin. Yours obviously doesn't have fins, but the main body shape is quite reminiscent. Aww, thanks. But wait till you see what I've got lined up for you in Part 3. >:-) Twice today (well, Thursday). I'm getting a bit scared. Maybe I should stop hanging around in the shadows. A bat would never venture out during the day.
  13. *beep beep beep* 8-| Mad Hatter models himself after the Mad Hatter from Alice In Wonderland. Tommy "Hitman" Monaghan, on the other hand, doesn't.
  14. Interesting that that's been the only news then. We've not had another press release since then. A quick check of the main shopping centre's events calendars doesn't seem to throw anything up either.
  15. Saw the new trailer the other day. Nothing much new really, although this and the recent series of Torchwood seems to suggest that UNIT is a bit more, well, bad-megablocks than it ever used to be. Must be the name change (Unified Intelligence Taskforce). And the new series is confirmed to be starting at 6:20 on Saturday 5th April.
  16. I'm definitely more of a DC guy than a Marvel guy, but I'll still read Marvel. I'm just more likely to be able to name the 12 main types of Kryptonite, is all. I do quite like the FF though. Especially Reed. Not really sure why, I just do. I quite liked Iron Man, but after Civil War, like Apo, I'm not so sure. I'd actually quite like to read some Deadpool as well, just to see the metafictional awareness.
  17. Ah the Go-Bots. Have you seen how much stick they come under in the recent TF comics, especially Cy-Kill. He's never once been named, but he's been killed several times in both DW and the new (rather good) IDW series. Mostly against Megs actually. Tsk. And you call yourself a fan. ;-) On a side niote, I bought TF: Megs Origin the other week. Personally, I don't think it's quite as good as the main IDW story, but it's still an entertaining read. I'm also looking forward to picking up Spotlights (vol 2) soon, and the Devastation later. Should be good.
  18. Right, now, I actually read this the other day, so I'm going to see how much of it I can actually remember. I guess it's nice to get an insight into EBs second best Bat-geek (he knows who's first) ;-) And as for me being "witty and very funny", all my puns have obviously confused you. X-D
  19. You know, I could post a summary of the last month. So, because I can, here we go: Southport, Manchester, PC problems, Pantomime, AS module results, new PC, Firewall problems, can't post, school, more Firewall problems, free Easter eggs, school, college, writing, laziness, sleeping, reading comics bought from Manchester, MOCing, MODing, still Firewall problems, Firewall problems sorted. As for today, I didn't really do anything. But my friend came over a little bit the other day after we'd been in school, because he was getting the train (the station's nearer my house than his), and he seemed quite impressed with all my Lego. To be honest, I don't think he'd realised I had as much as I do. Still, it's nice to see people take an interest in my hobby. I mean, it's taken long enough.
  20. Subtle... Actually, Spy-Clops is rather good. Anyway, lots of new pics in my absence. First the ones *yoda* posted. I like the gold gun in the gold set (makes sense), and the plane looks rather cool as well. The snow mobile's a bit big, but never mind, easily fixed. As for the jetpack, it's rather nice, in a rtro sort of way. But how cool would it be to have a heli-pack? The bike looks nice, as do the boat and the car (chrome!). And do I see the words "ejector" and "seat" in that description? The truck looks rather beefy as well, and the large number of minivehicles is a definite plus. It's also nice to get some more good pics of the minifigs, all of which look rather cool. The pics we've just seen weren't really anything new, but that doesn't matter. Especially as we get some set descriptions. As for these two mystery sets, well, I only hope they're more of the same. Which means I'll have to buy them. Damn.
  21. Nice. Hmm, I didn't realise the commander was bigger than the normal aliens. The mini robot in the alien set is strangely cute (also, is that a mini alien drone?), and I do rather like the two human sets. The mech is nice too, but since the majority of the set is the alien ship, I'll have to pass on it. The other two, I want but probably can't afford. The dropship-thing is a rather cool idea, and actually ooks a bit classic space-y in the implementation. But with a contemporary twist obviously. Although the drill buggy thing looks a bit weird. The tanks looks cool too, in a OTT sci-fi action kind of way. The cutter blades at the front look quite intimidating. I think, though, that the price will be the deciding factor here.
  22. Can the two green things (the 'bones') be turned in slightly, towards the alien? Because I'm wondering if it might look better... Anyway, cheers for the review. I might get this (maybe 2), just so my MX-11 has something to chase when I'm swooshing. And it's cheap, and I love a bargain.
  23. Hee hee, cute. Simple, imaginative, and just basically cool.
  24. http://www.peeron.com/inv/parts/6087 It's weird. Orange is one of those colours that looks a lot better in Lego form than it often does in real life. Oh, I don't mind them. I just think there are an awful lot, when there perhaps don't need to be. Although not being familiar with the source material, I 'm not sure if that's the case.
  25. |-/ You could have waited until after my Part 3 was up. I did coin the idea after all. ;-) Right then, what have we got? Croc's boat. A nice MOD there, BB2 (I'm BB1). Sleek, stylish and just a little bit cheesy. As for Scarecrows biplane, well, I may have to steal the wing wires idea, as it does look rather nice. In fact, your MODs appear to be similar to mine, but obviously yours has got the aformentioned wires. I might think about making Jokers biplane from The Long Halloween (which I've bought and read since I was last on here, and it is rather good) for Part 4 actually. The minis, are they based on the same scale as my mini Batmobiles? Because they look a similar size. Anyway, they're both very nice, and look very Batman-ish. I particularly like the water spray, just because it's a neat idea. Read War Games Act 1-3 and Under The Hood for some modern Black Mask. Nice DKR scene (and nice toes, btw ;-) ), as is the Long Halloween scene. I see you've taken a leaf out of my book (again) in making comic-vigs with the SFX lettering. As for the Batboat, what would really be nice is if the boat actually transformed into the sub. However, since that would be pretty hard to make, I'll forgive you, especially as I like this. It definitely looks more sub than boat, and-- actually I've just realised, it looks a bit like the Batsub from Superman/Batman/Wonder Woman: Trinity. Is this intentional? And cheers for the part 6, even if it does suggest that no-one else is missing me.
