It's the Bat-tank that does it. I think it's worth the price though, it's pretty impressive. Shame those treads are really boring to put together...

Picked up an Imperial Dropship the other day. Strangely, these are my first Stormies. I don't know why I've never had any, I just haven't. Anyway, the dropship isn't that bad. It's by no means fantastic, but it could be worse. Still, the figures are .

Ah yes, I remember that. But we all cheated by getting people to sign a separate book as and when we saw them.

Indeed. He seems to be someone you either really like or really don't. I was talking to someone about his work on Heroes a while ago, and she was saying that she wasn't sure about the art, in that it was perhaps too cartoony, not 'real' enough. Well, after I'd explained who Tim Sale was, and impressed her with my "he's colourblind, you know" factoid. Ah yes, the old 'so bad it's good' thing. It has to be one of the funniest series I've read in a loing time... it's just not supposed to be. I counted 15 uses of the word "Goddamn" in one issue alone. And what is up with Wonder Woman being a man-hating feminist? Yeah... I think I agree with you on Babs. I think we've got, left to right: Selina, Babs, Zatanna, Black Canary?, Power Girl, Wonder Woman, [?], [?], Mary Marvel?, Harley and Ivy. Don't know who the three are between WW and Ivy. It might be Mary Marvel sat down, but I'm not sure. As for the other two... *shrugs* On another note, I watched some BTAS the other day (finally!). Managed to get in Forgotten, Be a Clown and Two-Face part 1. Forgotten was nothing special, although it was nice to see Alfred do something . I guess the old amnesia thing is getting a bit over-used. Be a Clown... another Joker story, but nice because of it. Two-Face was great. I can really see why you like it. Need to find time to watch part 2 now... EDIT: Just heard on the radio that Batman has been voted the UKs number 1 superhero. And I should think so too.

Went to see The Incredible Hulk the other day. Actually, I went to see the afternoon showing, but my card wouldn't read in the machine (the banks fault apparantly), so I had to go back later with some cash. Luckily, my sister was going out with her friends at the same time (I think they saw The Happening), so it worked out okay as I got a lift. Anyway, when I eventually got into the film, I quite enjoyed it. I'm loving the in-jokes and referrences that this and Iron Man had, as they really appeal to fanboys like me. It's great how they're building towards a big cross-over film. The Hulk/Abomination fight at the end was impossibly cool as well, and it was nice to see both of the main aspects of the Hulk (Hulk, Banner) treated properly.

The only TF trade I've managed to find in Borders has been IDWs Marvel G1 reprint, Generations Vol 1. Shame, as it's normally quite good for trades/hardcovers. Manchester Forbidden Planet disappointed me where TF trades are concerned. They usually seem to have a few, but never that many, although I did get Infiltration from there. But, the Waterstones there (in Manchester) seems to have a lot. I managed to pick up Escalation, Stormbringer and Spotlights Vol 1 there in one go (3 for 2 as well!), then got Megs Origin another time. The last time I went in, they had BW: The Ascending, Spotlights Vol 2, GI:Joe/TF Omnibus and a couple of others that I can't quite remember. So I'd suggest you check out Waterstones. Picked up Alt Wheeljack from Argos the other day. A pretty nice figure, and even better for being £7.39. Not found anywhere to put him yet though...

Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures...
Brainbox replied to The Kid's topic in Culture & Multimedia
'Turn Left' was good. I've always been a fan of 'what ifs' so it was nice to see one in Doctor Who. It was inevitable really, seeing as how the show deals with time travel. So the Time Beetle appears to be one of the Trickster's Brigade. As in, the Trickster from Sarah Jane. And it's always nice to hear the Cloister Bell. Davros sounds great, just right. We may not have seen him properly, but he seems to look fantastic too. The Red Dalek Supreme also looks rather nice. If you look very closely in some of the trailers, you can see UNIT logos behind Daleks. Do they invade UNIT as well as Torchwood? I would say so. Right, speculation time. 'The Stolen Earth' implies that something (Davros?) has taken Earth somewhere, especially as he mentions his "new empire". Now, there have been various references to lost or missing planets throughout the four modern series. Let's say that all these planets have been taken somewhere. Now, what if Skaro and/or Gallifrey aren't lost in the sense of being destroyed, but lost in a literal sense- missing. I know the Doctor said that Gallifrey burned, but still... it's a possibility. Over this series we've had reference to breeeding and new life- the clone race Sontarans, the seeding to create the Adipose, Jenny. First of all, this suggests that these Daleks are being (re)grown from somewhere, perhaps Dalek Caan. Secondly, I wonder if "new life" could reach a certain species from Gallifrey... "The bees are disappearing", "the Medusa Cascade" and "the Shadow Proclamation" are obviously important. It's also been a theme this series of not having all the details about the monsters. What was the creature on Midnight? The Time Beetle was only identified as one of the Trickster's Brigade by behind-the-scenes information from the BBC. We didn't technically see the Vashta Nerada. The Sontarans used duplicitous clones and it's unclear as to who the monsters are in Planet of the Ood. Perhaps there's mpre to the series finale than we know? Perhaps there's one final surprise to reveal? Oh, I can't wait. EDIT: Exclusive preview of The Stolen Earth from the BBC: -
I never really took to Wheelie, annoying is what he is really. But it's nice to see him get a book, on his own it's a stroke of luck. He may end up a lonely boy, but at least there's no-one to annoy.

I volunteer in a primary school on Tuesday afternoons, so I was there this afternoon. We did some artwork, then did PE. It's the sports days this week, so the school has adopted 'Olympics week' this week. Each class has a different Olympic country, and ours has got Brazil. That means that all the lessons are somehow themed around Brazil. With that in mind, we were drawing rainforests in art, and doing carnival dancing in PE. This morning was less exciting, as I spent most of it in bed.

Wow, Claw-dette looks fantastic, thanks Lego-Freak. And the name is just so cool. Yeah, that's it. Not that it's a bad thing necessarily, as it's just the sort of HQ styling a megalomaniac in a camp spyfest would have. I do quite like the screens. They're just in a weird place, right in the middle of the main corridor. And unlike Harley, Claw-dette has two!

Would you like me to? More of a gate actually, but I get your point. Oh, I don't know. It's no worse than some of the ones we had in the 60s TV series... Remember though, that for many people, Batman was the 50s 'Batman and his ridiculously big Bat-family vs aliens and strange transformations' or the 60s TV series. Even the 70s Batman wasn't excessively dark. Remember also that Batman has always had a large and impressive array of vehicles, so vehicle sets aren't a bad thing in my book. Oh dear... you're getting like me.

Thanks for the review mate. It's always nice to see more pictures of this frankly superb set. I really need to get this as soon as possible, if only for Harley. The hammer truck is fun and wacky, something we don't have a lot of in the current Bat-mythos, and the Batcycle isn't as bad as I first thought. About time too. And what is this, a 'mention as many EBers as possible' review? We had Sinner, Deinonychus, The Penguin, Grievous, you, me... I always like the comic strips. This is no exception, and like you say, so very Harley. You'd be surprised how accurate that is. I seem to have a knack for making things break by fiddling with them. But isn't it great how everything came out right in the end? Oh that is fantastic! I might have to build one of my own... On a sidenote, does the BatbrickCave have some low-slung saws/knives near the entrance? Because I always seem to lose large amounts of hair every time I go near it.

I bet you're impossibly nice to her. My sister doesn't bother me where Lego is concerned. She's learnt not to go in my room, I daren't go in her room (no, really, it's a death-trap). That said though, small pieces do keep turning up every time we convince her to tidy her pig sty room.

I also happen to know that Batbrick isn't the biggest fan of that car... BOOP BOOP BOOP You know, I think someone has suggested this at some point in all the previous 'what would you like to see in 200-' threads. Still a neat idea though. I'd like to see Man-Bat done as a normal minifig actually, but with a new bat-head mold and some new arm-molds with wings attatched to the sides. Oh, of course. We simply must have Stately Wayne Manor. As long as they include all the different media Batcave entrances that is. The Batpoles behind the bookcase that are operated by the hidden button in the Shakespeare bust, the lift shaft inside the iron maiden, the rotating wall panel, the bookcase that opens when a sequence of piano keys are pressed, and the clock entrance that opens by turning the hands to 10:47 (the time Thomas and Martha Wayne were killed). Oh, and the service elevator for Alfred. I think Ra's might be a better option for this set, as he has a bit of a history where breaking into the Batcave is concerned.

Don't complain though. Besides, they're only late if you're not somewhere that isn't either America or Canada.

Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures...

Was in Peru. And Mace was a Colonel. -
I quite like the art, especially the way Mahnke draws Bats. I quite like his art generally though. In fact, I'm quite a fan of the 'unusual' artists, more so than the 'real' artists. I mean, artists like Jim Lee, Ian Churchill and Doug Braithwaite are brilliant, but I much prefer art with a bit of unique character. People like Tim Sale, Terry Dodson, Joe Benitez and Ed McGuiness. "It's the goddamn Batman!" Yeah... tell me off, will you? Tsk. As long as I can get it on with Harley. Way ahead of you. Already commented. I want you to strike that remark from the record. Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures...

And it's nice to see that at least one classic series icon hasn't been forgotten. I mean, the Daleks invade Earth, so surely, he'll need all the help he can get. Why not call on the Brigadier and the UNIT crew, Ian and Barbara, Polly and Ben, Victoria, Liz Shaw, Jo Grant or Izzy as well? Tegan's in Australia, so he wouldn't call on her. Doesn't say much does it? -
But... it had an actual remote control car. Then again, Goldeneye had a tank...
-
£8.99? That's not too bad. I might have to get the windows and doors one, and probably the wheels one as well. You always need wheels right? But I don't think I have any particular need for 150 red slopes.

Finally bought the game yesterday. I love it! Unfortunately, it won't seem to play on my laptop, so I'm having to play it on the home PC. It's a little slow, but I'm in the midst of trying to get that sorted. I've completed the first level despite the jumpiness, but the second level messed up a little, probably because of the aforementioned 'problem'. Still, I've got 10 weeks off now, so plenty of time to have a good go.
-
Yes! Finished for summer. And I only had one lesson today, all the others were cancelled. Here's to 10 weeks off.

Nice work, Batbrick. I like the Firefly wing solution. The previous one was, of course, good, but this is better for being brick-built. The Gotham residents feel very 'real' to the city, and I've always thought that Hugo Strange was (sadly) one of the more neglected Bat-villains, so it's good to see him here. The Penguin umbrella gun is fantastic (I might borrow it myself sometime), and the Joker henchman is a vast improvement. You know what else might work for a Joker goon? An Islander head. Indeed they do. But then, violence isn't cool, so... Hmm... I never thought of that. He's lacking a beard, but the head itself looks quite good. Ah, but which is which? Oh, you flatterer...

You mean this? The instructions appearing on the cache surely implies that they'll be out soon here in the UK. Every new picture I see of these sets makes me want them all more. So the inside of the Volcano Base is a bit bare, but it's nothing a little MODing can't solve, and it's so wacky and over-the-top, I'm willing to see past it. The sub also looks quite nice, as does the boat that comes with it. You get the impression that more than four agents would have been a better idea, the number of duplicates we're getting. Still, there're nice heads and hairpieces, and it'll be good to have some spare uniforms. The new henchman and woman look nice, and it's good to see that the wonderful Spalko hairpiece isn't going to waste. Those mechanical arms are simply beautiful. It's hard to look at the Volcano Base, though, without thinking it looks like a face. Actually, it's the same with the front of the sub...

Oh yeah, of course, I have Stormbringer as well. Forgot about that one. See, I don't have that luxury. Is Wheelie any good, as he is really annoying?
