That's a good point actually. How can Penguin profess to be a bird lover, then have them risk their lives commiting crimes for him? Still, I prefer TLC having real penguins to having mechanical ones.

modification for the Mach 6 (Speed Racer: 8161)
Brainbox replied to Courleciel's topic in LEGO Licensed
Do you mean this one? Or the Shooting Star we already have? -
Not so up on the paint, but apart from that it's very nice. I like the doors at the back... more than what I've got on mine in fact. Hmm, perhaps I need to look at mine again.
-
Look at pages 9 and 10 of the instructions. It's not amazingly clear because of the angle on 10, but it looks like it can fold in quite well. Looking at the mechanism on 9, I'd say it fold all the way down. Obviously the seat sticks out a bit though. EDIT: But that sticky-out seat bit may well be hidden by the base module that's built later on. I just have a thing for redheads... But no, I've never seen the show sadly. I was a fan from the beginning, but it's amazing how many other people have said that. The first pictures came out and everyone thought it looked childish, silly and garish. But as better pictures started to appear, consensus changed, and it looks like Agents might well be one of the best lines out at the moment. Now all I need is to get the sets.

Yep... I'll agree with them on that one. And that one. I mean, Brainbox has fainted... The way Robin is hiding in the background in one of those pictures, makes me wonder if Bruce will feature in some sort of undercover Batman role on a level/cinematic.

Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures...
Brainbox replied to The Kid's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Davros went mad. Again. I quite liked it. It was perhaps a bit happy at the end, where everyone just walked away. Even Donna came off lightly. So she doesn't remember the Doctor... at least she survived. And Rose seemed to get over the human Doctor not being the real Doctor pretty quickly didn't she... It was nice to see K-9, even if it was only briefly. And of course, K-9 has the TARDIS basecodes because K-9 II has TARDIS schematics in his memory banks. And it was good to see Davros remember Sarah-Jane. That was such a good fanboy moment. As was the reference to the chameleon circuit. German Daleks as well, likely a reference to the Nazi roots intended by Terry Nation (and thus another Genesis reference). Has he used up a regeneration? Possibly, but bear in mind temporary regenertions and aborted regenerations have happened before. Has Davros survived? Of course he has. Why stop at wanting to included Adric? What abour Katarina. No-one remembers her, do they? Or Sara Kingdom. And what about all the UNIT soldiers who've died? "People and planets and stars will become dust. And the dust will become atoms, and the atoms will become... nothing. [...] This is my ultimate victory. The destruction of reality ITSELF!" "Never forget, Doctor, you did this! I name you forever! You are the Destroyer of Worlds!" -
Not yet. I can't really afford it at the moment, sadly. Once I can though, I'll probably get it. Is it any good? Waiting for a back Mutt/Agents hairpiece, then I can do a black hair version, and a brown hair version (seeing as how Matches has been both). Hmm... Batbrick and Brainbox MOC special anyone? No, seriously, I might do that. No, really, All-Star is hilariously funny because it's so bad. Everyone refers to Bats as "the Goddamn Batman". In fact, I counted 15 uses of the word 'goddamn' in one issue alone! Batman and Black Canary, um, make out with their masks on because "it's better that way". Dick Grayson's parents are killed, then he's kidnapped by Batman and told to eat rats. Vicki Vale wanders around with very little on. Wonder Woman hates men... no really, she hates men. Superman is a bit of a spineless wimp. Batman is a borderline psychopath. Everyone gets beaten within an inch of their lives every issue. Oh, and in case you didn't know, Dick Grayson is 12 (read the first few issues, and you'll get this). That said though, the Batmobiles are pretty cool. And Babs Gordon is quite cute... Nah, that was the Batman '08 thread. This is chatroom v2. No, it's just a good dose of Bat-fickleness. We're just here to entertain. Yeah... just ignore the bits where we talked about Batbrick's mum, my laptop, upcoming Lego projects, intended Lego purchases, this years films and James Bond.

I don't know. He used real penguins in the comics in the 60s and 70s, and in Batman Returns. All brainwashed and mind-controlled of course. Can you brainwash a penguin? I read this the other day. Assuming it's entirely, unequivocally true (which it likely isn't) it all sounds very good. I can't wait for this game.

modification for the Mach 6 (Speed Racer: 8161)
Brainbox replied to Courleciel's topic in LEGO Licensed
I would, but £35... it's a lot in a year when I can barely afford the all the stuff I'm definitely getting. Show off. -
It's great to be the one who started something. Granted, not a MOC theme, but still. I decided a while ago that mine needed bley and white wheel arches, rather than the black ones from the official model. But not having got any yet, I haven't got round to it. There are also some in the Doctor's Car, which is cheaper, so I might see if I can pick that up sometime. Yeah. Afterall, whoever said that it's only a MOD if it was an official model? Ooh... What? It's 60s chic at it's best! Paul Dini's Detective Comics run has been usuing orange, for example. Harley in an orange jumpsuit.

Aw, shucks... Hmm... I quite like that. Not really... but then I'm too busy thinking about Kim.
-
You know, that really says a lot about where you live.
-
Looking at this is making me want to build one of the favourite sets of my childhood, 6649 Street Sweeper (might do that today actually). Cheap. good pieces (despite the lack of a bin lid... that's just inviting disaster isn't it?), nice fig, and one of those blue brushes, which I've always loved but never managed to use. Thanks WhiteFang.
-
You know, that's exactly what I thought. I love it! It's simple, well designed, and cute. There are some nice pieces in there as well, and I really do quite like the fig- the new coastguard torso looks great. Thanks!
-
Thanks for another review WhiteFang! This is quite a nice set actually. It evokes some of the design elements of the MX-11, while looking different enough to justify me buying it. The head on the astronaut is one I like, so even better. I hadn't realised it was that one actually. Does 26 pieces make it one of the bigger impulses sets? I think I may have to get one, if not two... Plus it's called 'Crystal Hawk'. How can that not be considered cool?
-
I certainly hope so. I only have one. Hey, I'm still waiting for somewhere in the UK other than TLC itself to get the first wave of Impulse sets...

modification for the Mach 6 (Speed Racer: 8161)
Brainbox replied to Courleciel's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'm almost tempted to buy it myself, just to have a go at MODing it. Nice work then. -
Got up at 9:00 this morning, the earliest I've gotten up so far this holiday. Lazed around on the internet until lunchtime, then decided to get dressed. Watched three episodes (5, 6 and 7) of 1968 Doctor Who serial The Invasion (very cool, Cybermen invade London), moped around this afternoon, then watched the 60s Batman film. Gee, it's great being on holiday.
-
Watched the 60s Batman film tonight. The concluding episode of a three-parter from the series was on earlier, and I was in a Bat-mood. Love it, absolutely love it. Plus, it's given me a few ideas for stuff to put in Bat-MOC 4... Favourite line? Alfred's exclamation of surprise/horror: "Bless my dustpan!"

Did you make them specially? -
And Steph Brown's Robin is a real nice looking (Red) bird. I'm sorry, I really am...
-
With any luck mine should come this week. I thought it might as well, since the spring one finished on 30th June. Tomorrow would be nice...
-
And some shops are just crap.
-
Bruce Wayne fights with his briefcase?! Brilliant! And I think I might have to build Ivy a plantmobile like the one in the trailer there.
-
Thanks for the review. Bearing in mind that the whole point of this set is to get a cheap troll warrior, I actually quite like it. The cart isn't brilliant, but for 13 pieces it's not that bad. The troll fig is great as always, and I guess the rats are always nice to get (not so much in real life though). The sets that contain the trolls have a fairly solid number each (I mean, Tower Raid has three!), but nevertheless I think I may have to pick up a few of these. The troll's hands are going to get quite sore then aren't they?
