  1. Not a bad idea. I suppose you could try using these or something similar, connecting them to the body on each side of the wheel. The wheel would then be encased inside the 'M'.
  2. Nice. They all sound pretty good, ad it's neat how they tie together a bit. I skimmed through the wikipedia entry, and it does sound pretty good. Isn't it great how well we know each other despite never having met. Oh yeah. Never much liked him anyway. The other one comes in Superman: Camelot Falls when, in a vision of a fallen humanity in the future, we know how bad it is because "the Joker's stopped laughing". Watched See No Evil and Beware of the Gray Ghost. I quite liked SNE, and once again Bats demonstrated an uncanny knack with kids. Seriosuly, he was holding Catwoman's daughter recently (in an unbearably cute panel). BOTGG was fantastic, mostly because of Adam West. When I went to see Transformers last summer, I got this chill down my spine on hearing Cullen speak as Prime for the first time. The same happened here. The story was good, and it was a little moving in parts as well. On a related note, I went shopping yesterday and found a Batman shelf in HMV. In anticipation of the release of TDK (a week tomorrow), all the Batman DVDs they had were on offer. I jumped on BTAS Vol.2 for £10! Yes, £10! Now all I have to do is finish Vol.1.
  3. Ha, nice. The obvious comic book parallels are neat, and considering it was done with a skeleton cast and at a time when it was likely difficult to produce anything it's a good piece of work. Thanks for sharing.
  4. Thanks for the news. This is really cool. Mad Hatter looks awesome, as does Killer Moth. Both so accurate to the source material. And to think Batbrick laughed when I wondered whether Killer Moth would be in.
  5. Went to Manchester yesterday with my dad, who was off work because the unions are striking. Yep, his colleagues picketed the town hall, he went shopping. Sounds fair to me! Anyway, so I went shopping, and blew a load of money. I ended up buying TF: Spotlights Vol.2, a Fantastic Four '4' t-shirt, a Transformers Soundwave t-shirt, BTAS Vol.2 (on offer, only £10), Mighty Muggs The Thing, Marvel Minimates Thor and Loki, DCU #0 and Final Crisis: Requiem. So today, I've been lounging around at home, saving money.
  6. So was I! Then I gave into temptation, purely a spur-of-the-moment thing. Small. But if you put Break Jaw in, hunch him over the steering wheel, and hold it up at eye level at a particular angle, it just looks so cool! Oh yeah. Somehow, I'll find the money. The bike's okay. It does look pretty good, but I think it would look better with the wheel arches going the other way. You know, up from the front, rather than down. Unfortunately, I can't MOD it untill it's finished modelling for the comic. The ATV is pretty nice. The catapult trigger on the back is better than you'd think, it works pretty well (still going though). The wheels are perhaps a little small in comparison to the rest of the jeep, and the whole thing is ridiculously big next to a minifig (seriously, Gold Tooth comes up the the bottom of the side bar of the driving area). Plus, the bonnet obscures a lot of forward vision when it's open, but I'll forgive that because of the missiles. I should be able to pick up Jetpack Pursuit any time with regards money, I just want to find it for the proper price. The others, I haven't found yet, so it's anyones guess. It depends what I find when, and when I can afford what I find (say that when you're drunk ). Speaking of, I still haven't got that. Stupid "there is a waiting list on the catalogue". I don't care, I want my S@H now! Hmph.
  7. She'll be inconsolable that you got her name wrong. I'll have to go and comfort her.
  8. You wouldn't have the 'M', but I guess the obvious solution would be the new hubcaps. You could possibly choose a tyre that's wider in the middle (they won't fit otherwise) and use one of these and one of these on the end of the axle, with another custom decal.
  9. I would use shape to an aesthetic degree if it was possible, but usually it's not an option. Using your 'brick wall' example, I simply couldn't spare all those 1x2s (and even if I could, I wouldn't want to). However, I can see how only using 1 or perhaps 2 types of brick in a particular area of a MOC would work well. Floor or wall tiles for example. That, and I have a somewhat compulsive need to have everything in exactly the right place, looking exactly right. So if I could use the size of bricks to an aesthetic advantage, I probably would.
  10. That bad, huh? How do the villains come across. Because I know we were a little divided when the designs first surfaced, and I displayed an uncharacteristic closed-mindedness. I almost got a bit fanboyish for a short time. Here we go again. You tell me to check something out, I do, I get interested, I buy it, I have no money. Well, not this time. This time I'm-- ooh, that looks good. I might have to look into buying it. Oh, damn. Steph Brown, and I guess you could count both Black Canarys. The first was based in Gotham, and the second was when the Birds of Prey were. Cluemaster was blond as well, but he's a villain as were Lady Vic, Query and Mr Zsasz. You could count the Bette Kane Bat-Girl, but she was retconned (the Bat-Girl bit at least). Oh, and Sasha Bordeaux was blond at one point. And Nora Fries. But I agree, there aren't enough blondes. Wait a minute... Oi! The Joker bits are good, especially as they're quite few and far between. But because of that, you see why everyone thinks of him as this unstoppable, destructive force. And I mean everyone. Oh yeah, course. Oh no, I did like it. It's just the whole repentance thing felt a bit rushed. Not the writers fault, mind, it was because they only had 20-odd minutes to work with. We really are walking cliches aren't we? Ah yes, should be good. I didn't know Bruce Timm was in it as well. Actually, that's a point. Why was Clayface one one of the disc 2 menus when he's not in till disc 3?
  11. I got a huge box of Lego for free a few weeks (months?) ago from someone my mum works with. There were some quite nice pieces in there, and I even managed to salvage a few complete sets. I took some photos as I went along, but haven't got round to posting them yet. Bear in mind that it took about 3 weeks just to sort it all out and put it in the right storage boxes.
  12. Picked up Swamp Raid and Gold Hunt on Saturday. Saved some money too, as the shop had (for no apparant reason) Swamp Raid priced at £11.23. Not a complaint mind.
  13. Nice. It'd be the right shape certainly. Not sure how I'd attach it while still keeping it the same height though.
  14. Indeed. Speaking of, I went shopping the other day, and sauntered into what is possibly the worst Woolworths ever, and what did I find? Agents sets! They had Turbo Car Chase, Swamp Raid, Gold Hunt and Jetpack Pursuit. Jetpack pursuit was bizarrely overpriced at £11.99, so I decided to pass on that one. I didn't feel I could afford £40, so passed on the Turbo Car as well. To that end, I picked up Gold Hunt and Swamp Raid. Plus, Swamp Raid was (no idea why) priced at £11.23. Not marked down or on offer, just proced wrong. So I saved about £4, which is nice. Anyway, both sets are fantastic. Break Jaw and Gold Tooth are awesome. It's a pity the Agents don't have any hair in these sets, but never mind. Break Jaw's little boat has suddenly become my favourite vehicle in the whole range! Plus, the instructions for Swamp Raid contain a page with picture portraits of the four Agents, and the Inferno gang (sans Fire-Arm and Claw-Dette). That is so cool!
  15. They're on S@H for you, but bear in mind that the UK hasn't had the Bat-sets surface yet, so it's not just you. Look, just be thankful you've got three of the sets. Like I said, we haven't got any (bizarrely, we have got some of the Agents sets early though).
  16. Nice work Erao. Like the other said, the Tumbler could do with being a little longer, but for the sheer concept (hidden vehicles, etc. Something else I have a bit of a thing for) is good, and makes up for a few little design issues. I believe it's based on one of the upcoming movie toys.
  17. Nice work. A cool vehicle and a neat, funny idea. I like the ice cream dispensers as well, a nice detail there. See Batbrick, this is what I meant by 'the lighter side of Batman'. Oh of course, I missed that.
  18. I haven't seen one. But I'd imagine you could use the basic design of the Mach 6 as a start.
  19. Thanks for the review. I have a bit of a thing for reference guides like this, so this is definitely something I'll be getting. I hadn't realised it was so thick, but then it would be I suppose. 50 years of Lego is a lot of sets. And to be honest, I don't think it's that badly priced. I'm quite happy to spend £16 on this.
  20. In that case, I'll have to give it a go. That and DC: The New Frontier. Oh, and Gotham Knight. Yep, quite correct. He did just that. Ah, I see. Let's be honest though, there's not much chance of that because B&R is 'so bad it's bad'. I, um, haven't seen this either... That's a good point actually. All the current Bat-family have black hair don't they? But Matches has had both brown and black hair, so I'll do both. We could call it 'Return to the BatbrickCave: The Misadventures of Batbrick and Brainbox'. Then do a gritty, out-of-continuity version called 'All-Star Batbrick and Brainbox the Boy Pun-der'. *ahem* Plus it was what introduced me to Batman. I remember watching the film when I was younger, and for me it was Batman. Then a good few years later I went to the library and found they had a new graphic novel section (they only had a few at the time), and picked up JLA: Terror Incognita (I think) because it had Bats in it. And look at me now, a fully-fledged comic geek. The worrying thing is, if I'd have said it, it would have been. Have you come across any of the 60s Freeze's? George Sanders, Otto Preminger and Eli Wallach. Preminger had a ridiculous accent, and sported some equally ridiculous bright orange eyebrows... Speaking of, I've managed to watch a slew of BYAS episode recently. It's Never Too Late was suitably different to be good, while I've Got Batman In My Basement was suitably different to be bad. It was improved slightly by the inclusion of the Penguin, but it was all too 'typical Home Alone/kids save the day' for my liking. And you know when the mum thinks her kid and his friend have wrecked the house? She's shocked right? Well, why does she calm down when she discovers that they haven't wrecked the house because it was actually a supervillain, but it's all okay because the kids are hiding Batman IN HER BASEMENT!? Heart of Ice was sheer brilliance. Freeze is written with just the right mix of sympathy and coldness. His voice is superb, so monotonous and emotionless, which only makes his obvious sadness all the more chilling (oh look, I've done it now). And the bit when he uses the fire hydrant to get into Gothcorp? Fantastic. And surely it's not a coincidence that Freeze's nemesis is called Boyle (as in, boil)... The Cat and the Claw was pretty good too. Two-parters are always welcome, as they allow for extra development, both in plot and in character. Catwoman fancies Batman. Again. But for once, I don't fancy Catwoman. I just don't think she's sexy enough. But I do fancy her assisstant Mavin a little, and what a surprise, she's a redhead... Did you notice that the credits on the first part are actually those for On Leather Wings? And what's happened to Robin? He was in Christmas With the Joker, and he hasn't been seen since!
  21. Wow, thanks guys. I guess you all like Davros, huh? Erm... I don't know. I'll have to go and have a look. I certainly wouldn't rule out more Daleks later on. Different variants and colourschemes, and the like. Perhaps, but like you said, I had to work with what I had. Perhaps. I kind of like him as he is, but I might try it just the same. Thanks for the suggestion. Praise indeed. I think they're the only Lego Daleks I've seen that are actually in-scale with a minifig. Real Daleks are just under 6 foot, and assuming a minifig is about that, then any Dalek should be just a little smaller. Mine are, whereas most tend to be slightly taller. I think I agree actually. I couldn't think of a way to get the extra 'torso' armour to look show-accurate, so just plumped for this. It looks good on my shelf though!
  22. Well, the Valeyard from Trial of a Time Lord was some sort of aspect of the Doctor from between his twelfth and thirteenth incarnations (it was never explained quite what that meant). In The Five Doctors, the Third Doctor references the Fourth as "all teeth and curls".* Because Time Lord intervention wiped the memory of the inter-incarnation meetings to preserve the web of time (to prevent a Time Lord remembering a point in his/her future from his/her past), there was no way he could know what his future incarnation looked like. One of the novels (just checked, and it's The Touch of Nuzrah from Short Trips: Monsters) has the Third Doctor injured, and start to regenerate into the Fourth Doctor. This was somehow reversed (I haven't read it) and Jo Grant described the Fourth Doctor to the Third at some point. I also found out that the War Chief (from The War Games) starts to regenerate at one point (again, had to check- Timewyrm: Exodus) but the regeneration aborts, causing him to look like two beings fused together. In addition, the Master chose not to regenerate at the end of Last of the Time Lords, while Romana forced a regeneration into her second incarnation, taking several different forms before settling into a duplicate of Princess Astra. It is possible that she was more damaged by the Key to Time than appeared, but she may also have simply chosen to change to better fit in with the TARDIS crew, or to move on from that part of her life (the quest for the Key). Although one novel does suggest it was an anthropomorphised TARDIS that did this, then made Romana take the form of Princess Astra it had adopted.** I also stumbled onto a Time Lord called Azmael who forced a final regeneration past his thirteenth (ie death) to save the Doctor and Peri by eliminating the spirit of Mestor inside him. *This line was apparantly supposed to be for Elisabeth Sladen, but Jon Pertwee appropriated it for himself. The Sarah Jane in The Five Doctors comes from after K-9 and Company, and has therefore ended her (classic) travels with the Doctor. **I prefer to ignore this suggestion though.
  23. Or perhaps some trans cheese slopes?
  24. Feel free to move this, btw. I just felt it wasn't minifig-y enough to go in the MCW. After watching the Series 4 (Season 30, Whovians) finale, I felt I just had to build a Supreme Dalek in the same style as Dalek Sec from two years ago. So, using the same design, I came up with this: Okay, so really it should be dark red and gold, not red and yellow, but it doesn't matter. It's simple, but effective, with the extra armour and three lights included. Here's the real red Dalek Supreme for anyone who didn't see it: Now, after I'd built that, I was thinking about something my dad had said after the episodes. In a passing comment, he's noticed the likeness between Palpatine and Davros. And that got me thinking. So I built another Dalek base, this time in black and grey (you can see where this is going), and came up with this: Again, it's not perfect. It's a little too tall, being slightly higher than my Dalek (making it the same height as a minifig) and the head isn't quite right. Davros has no eyes (but this head has no eye-whites, so that'll do) and a third/single blue eye on his forehead. The base is also a little thin as compared to the bdy, and there are no controls. But again, I don't care, as I simply love it. In fact, it's sat on my desk. Davros' favourite drink must be a cocktail of orange juice and vodka, because, yes, that's a screwdriver. It actually works quite well, the torso doesn't wobble around. There are two plates that hold it in place, but even without them it doesn't move around. The screwdriver was an accidental solution. I tried quite a few things (if you'll excuse the expression) up the torso before I found that this worked. Design-wise, this is a mix of Genesis of the Daleks Davros and Journey's End Davros. Supreme Dalek gallery Davros gallery Hope you liked.
  25. More subtle than my jokes though... I... yeah, good point. You know, much as it pains me to say it as a comic geek, I think I have to agree. With the obvious exception of Batman, it's been ages since I wanted every set in a theme. But it's not a rational want either, for parts and such, rather an irrational love for the set. Plus the inside need MODing as well. That throne needs to go in a less 'shoot-me-as-you-walk-through-the-door' sort of place, and there could do with being a few more things inside to make it look less bare. I still love the set though.
