Can't wait to see Weather Wizard and Superman!
-
No, I wanted to use the CMF Surfer torso, the yellow bare-chested one. I made him based on his appearance in Batman: Under the Red Hood, so I definitely wanna keep him yellow. Thanks a bunch! I was really bothered by the lack of Flash villains, so I felt the need to make him one to the best of my ability. I'd prefer to do Captain Cold or Mirror Master or Captain Boomerang, but when life hands you a spare purple Riddler mask, you make Trickster-ade.

Nowhere near. Barely any of the characters are accurate to their comic book personas (especially not Green Arrow, though I suspect he'll become more, um, sociable as the show goes on.) The plots are even further from the source material. Still, though, given a lot of the big villains are Green Arrow villains, it certainly wouldn't be out of place to have a Green Arrow vs. Deathstroke set, since he's a big Green Arrow baddie who also happens to be a major villain in the show. Plus I think we all really want Deathstroke.

Here's my set of DC Supervillains: New 52 Joker (specifically the scene from Death of the Family with Batgirl at the roller rink), Dr. Light, Cheetah, and Vandal Savage Doctor Destiny, Toy Man, Amazo, and Trickster Ares and Firefly Amazo needs a torso change for sure, the same one I need for Creeper. I want to redo Cheetah and Dr. Light completely. My villains aren't quite as well executed as my heroes.

This may not be the place to ask this, but has anyone tried taking the short capes and doing the trenchcoat thing with them? I'm thinking about getting a black one if I can find it to make a jacket for my Vibe figure.

It's really hard to tell. I think if kids watch Supernatural, then odds are there's a good bit that watch Arrow, and from what I know of kids, if it's popular with teenagers it's probably just as popular with kids trying to be teenagers. I think they'd sell, regardless. What LEGO doesn't realize is that it doesn't take a tie-in to interest kids, although it does help. I think it's a little ridiculous that LEGO thinks kids will buy generic police cars, but not a superhero they don't watch on TV. Heck, Slade's going to be coming back on Teen Titans Go, make a Green Arrow vs. Deathstroke set as an unofficial tie-in to both shows and kill two birds with one stone. That would be perfect. Heck, I'd go for any Justice League cartoon. Now's a good time, with the Justice League movie getting closer every day. Increase familiarity with the characters. Plus the store shelves are lining with DC action figures. There's at least 3 different lines of action figures from that end, give 'em a TV show to push them even harder.

Can't wait to see 'em, especially Black Cat! This is probably super stupid and a bit obvious, but if you take Batgirl's head and cowl and stick them on the Riddler Chase Batman's body, you get a pretty accurate Young Justice Batgirl.

What helmet is that?

Thanks! That would work really well if I had one. I really regret not buying those. Thanks a bunch! Question is definitely one of my favorites of them. He's also one of my favorite slightly-obscure DC heroes. My Joker Steamroller set just came in today, and now that I have Damian Wayne's Robin, I'd kinda like to replace Tim Drake's Robin with Red Robin. Does anyone have any good torsos for that? Also, I forgot how much I love Deadman. Once again, the problem with making him is mostly the torso. Any ideas?
-
Well, we've got the Man of Steel sets. Just got my Joker Steamroller a bit ago! Super happy with it, even though that Batplane's wing-claw thing is super stupid. The Steamroller itself is one of my favorite DC builds thus far though, and I'm really digging the Damian and Batgirl minifigs. I immediately replaced Damian's hair with the Bruce Wayne hair, because it feels much more accurate. I'd still like to find a good hair alternate for Nightwing, so I can eventually make/get a Red Robin without them having the same haircut. Having an almost full Bat Family and a passable Justice League now (which feels much more passable now that my display of them is based on this image and not the New 52 lineup) really makes me feel a bit better about the Batman saturation. After picking up issue 28 of the Flash today (by the way, this is the first time I've ever bought a Flash book. The only other physical comics I've bought are the Death of the Family Teen Titans issue, an issue of Batman and Robin I lost, another issue of Teen Titans I lost, and the villains month Deadshot book, all of these being New 52) I really really want to see Deadman in official LEGO form. Do you think we'll ever manage to see him?

Well, I may not be able to put pictures directly in here, but I did upload some (admittedly low quality) pictures of my current batch of DC heroes to Flickr. Not all of these are original ideas. You'll most likely recognize a good number of them from previous posts, but I really don't have the patience to sort out all of my figures to exclude covered ideas. Sorry. Here's Superboy, Wildcat, Guy Gardner, and Stargirl. This batch is Steve Trevor, Sandman, and Raven. These are Creeper, Vigilante, and Aqualad. Finally, Negative Man, Lagoon Boy, and the Question. I'm planning on replacing Guy Gardner's hair with the old Ron Weasley bowl cut and possibly his legs with the upcoming Green Lantern's. I'd be using the new Captain America torso and probably legs if I didn't like that figure so much Technically Question's trenchcoat isn't purist, but I think he's much better for it. I thought Lagoon Boy could use some trunks, since he's always had them in the comics. Plus it leaves that waist piece open for a Golden Age Robin. I'd really like to replace Creeper's torso to the CMF Surfer's torso, but I don't have that piece or the money available to buy it. I'd also like to find Aqualad a better hairpiece, something a little longer or Eastern to match his look in Young Justice.

I agree. Taking advantage of Green Arrow's popularity is just a good idea in a business sense, and would happen to be very fortuitous for the consumers as well I think even a $20 set with Green Arrow on a motorcycle chasing a truck of some sort being driven by Deathstroke and Count Vertigo (in comic book form) would work. Once again, even Imaginext's Justice League includes Hawkman, Green Arrow, Cyborg, and Red Tornado. I think LEGO should be able to give us that and then some.

Green Arrow has plenty of bad guys. Deathstroke in recent days has become a shared villain between Green Arrow and Batman. Even then, that's just counting the big-name villains. Green Arrow's been around for over fifty years, I'm sure he's got some guys they could appropriate. Not to mention lots of people don't realize that Green Arrow is a DC Comics superhero, or that the show is based on a comic book character whatsoever. Even more people don't know of most if not all of the villains used in the show. The general populace is likely not familiar with Clock King, a Batman villain, just as they're unfamiliar with Doctor Light, a Green Arrow villain. It really doesn't make a difference in that regard if they use either, but it does make it seem like A. a Batman show on a budget to comics fans and B. like Green Arrow can't stand on his own two feet in a live-action form. I also wish they would've used characters from Green Arrow's rogues gallery in the correct form instead of warping them to become wannabe Bat-villains (i.e. Making Brother Blood almost exactly like Batman Begins' Scarecrow as opposed to a cult leader, but that's another rant for another day. As for Flash, people don't even recognize Flash's logo, let alone his villains. True story: I was wearing my Flash t-shirt one night when my mom and I were stopped at a sobriety checkpoint. The policeman asked if we'd been drinking (of course we were not), said we could go and that he liked my shirt and that "he watches that show all the time." I was quite confused for about the next ten minutes because Flash hasn't been on a tv series regularly since Justice League Unlimited, but then I realized that he was referring to the Big Bang Theory, which as you may know, the main character Sheldon wears a Flash t-shirt often and the logo is often appropriated to go with his "Bazinga" catchphrase on anything they can possibly slap that on to. Flash is not a household icon these days.

I made a Sandman with that same head! For mine I used the Lucius Malfoy torso, black pants, gold hands, a brown cape (worn to the side) and a brown fedora. This was my only point of reference, so yours is far more accurate. I've came up with a better Raven than the one I mentioned earlier, but with parts I don't have. If anybody has them and wants to put up a picture of what they look like together, please do. Dark Blue Hood Head Dark Blue Cape Torso Dark Blue Legs Dark Blue Arms and Hands

This is him as of the New 52.

According to Comic Vine, she goes by the Atom and is a current member (or upcoming member?) of the Justice League of Canada. (Keeping up with comics is very, very hard or I would know that already)
-
I've got another proposition: now that we have an official Martian Manhunter figure, does anybody have any ideas for the rest of the New 52 Justice League of America/Canada? So far I've got MM, Catwoman, Stargirl, and Steve Trevor. That leaves Vibe, Katana, Hawkman, Simon Baz's Green Lantern, The Atom (there's a new one apparently?), Adam Strange, Alanna Strange, and Supergirl. I know you guys have posted a few of these before, but still I feel like I ought to write out the whole team. Plus it might be a bit of prompt to try for the New 52 designs as opposed to more classic ones. Although, if you simply can't make the New 52 design work, the classic versions are of no issue. As for Steve Trevor: Hair: Draco Malfoy's, more specifically, the light blonde swept back hair (this) Head: Thor's, although I think the Indiana Jones head or any number of others might be better. For some reason my Indy head won't go fit on the torso tight enough. (maybe this or this) Torso: Commissioner Gordon's SWAT suit, with black arms and gray hands. (this) Legs: Solid black He's also got two guns (these)

I think he looks pretty great in black and gray, although he would look better with blue. As for Cass, I'm waiting with bated breath! Care to give us a link? I love that book and would really love to have that Joker!

Well, LEGO did make about 6 sets based on a movie where a hero blew a whole through a man's chest in an astonishing example of badassery, as well as another 3 or 4 based on a movie where a hero destroys half a city and snaps a man's neck, so... Villain-wise, we've heard a likely possibility of Reverse-Flash (Professor Zoom) already cast, as well as Killer Frost. Apart from those two, I don't believe? I'm hoping that Heatwave, Captain Cold, Captain Boomerang, Mirror Master, and Weather Wizard somehow make it in, though. I would say I really want to see Gorilla Grodd, but he is MUCH more of a movie villain than a TV show villain, mostly due to special effects. I hope we see him in LEGO form eventually, too, particularly as a big fig.

After checking out a decent picture of the full, upright suit, he's got some gold detailing on the boots that works well enough for me. His torso piece looks a little too reminiscent of Green Arrow's. I can imagine the first meeting of the Arrowverse Justice League, and everyone walks in and realizes they're all wearing the same suit but with different logos. After like, 30 seconds of awkward silence, Batman: "I'm gonna go Bat-change." Superman: "Yeah, did we put any phone booths on here?" Wonder Woman: "It is far superior to my undergarments. I'm keeping it." Green Lantern: "I have to go speak with some Smurfs about this. *mumbles* "the ring makes the suit" my megablocks * Flash: "It's better than the one from the 90's, and I can't afford a new one, so..."

It's a little hard to even imagine anyone in a full bodied red suit wearing running shoes. I live in a mental state that says that in a real-world representation, the Flash's boots, as well as Robin's, are segmented and stitched in such a way that they are prime for running above all else.

Wish I could, but the picture-posting-process here as always confused me. I think that Arthur Weasley's head would work alright for Mad Hatter. That head would be a great fit for Anarchy! I can't believe I didn't think of that! I'll have to find a red hood and make him. I made a Question with a black suit and fedora and a technically non-purist gray trenchcoat that I love to death. I considered making King Shark once in a similar manner, but couldn't find the head. As for the other Suicide Squad members, good luck. Purist for those guys are going to be a challenge. Harley's multi-colored pigtails are the toughest bit, for sure, followed closely by Deadshot's head. If anyone's found a good head for Deadshot keeping within the purist form, I would be absolutely delighted to hear it. He's one of my favorite characters and it really sucks not having a LEGO one for my collection.

Given Arrow is constantly ripping off elements of the Batman universe and especially the Nolan movies, I'm wondering what they'll do with Flash. Maybe he'll be a constant rip-off of Man of Steel? Get all of Superman's baddies after they run through about 4 of his many good ones? Don't get me wrong, I love Arrow, but they really need to make a Green Arrow show and not just a budgeted Batman show. What can I say? I like the belt Brainiac would be absolutely stellar (no pun intended), especially in a big Justice League set. Brainiac and Darkseid would make for great JL villains, both in overall threat and number of henchman they could include.

The more I look at my current Superman fig, the more I want a New 52 version. I'm beginning to lose my fondness for his design. I really wish that, if they insist on making Batman the focus, adding in one of the other hero's bad guys in his duo sets. Maybe have Riddler replaced with Mirror Master or Captain Cold, Mr. Freeze teaming up with Black Manta, etc. I particularly want a Cheetah for Wonder Woman, since she has absolutely no villains thus far. Supes could use Metallo, Bizarro (screw of, SDCC exclusive) Doomsday, and maybe Toy Man (I have an odd interest in that guy. He seems like such an unmined character with lots of potential. Then again, I've never read a Superman title, only watched some episodes of the animated series, JLU, and the animated movies.)I think we need more villains from across the DCU, because Batman's foes are made to be challenging for Batman. Superman could take down Bane with a quick blast of heat vision to the venom tube. Wonder Woman's lasso would make quick work of Riddler. Flash could beat Joker easily for the most part. Aquaman's got the mad sharks to take on just about any of them. Throw Brainiac, Giganta, Weather Wizard, and Ocean Master respectively at 'em, and they're going to have a tough time.

No boots? I guess we really WILL get a set based off of this show! The only thing I don't like about it is the bright red backing on the symbol. Maybe if it were the same red, or even traditional white I'd be fine. The thing about Flash is that there really isn't a way to make him "dark and gritty" without sacrificing everything great about the character. His optimism, sense of humor, and relationship with his city and it's criminals make him an all around bright character, and is ultimately what makes him so appealing. He's so down to earth. It'd be like making a "dark, gritty, and realistic" biopic about Jennifer Lawrence.
