I don't think I'll ever buy customs unless it's a character I'm certain will never see the light of day in a Lego set. Mostly because they're so expensive, and if the figure actually does come out (which trust me, Green Lantern will be coming sooner rather than later. I'm guessing he'l be in the 2015 wave) then all of that money was kinda wasted on a figure that looks out of place next to the rest of them. I'd buy custom Watchmen, but certainly not custom Plastic Man, y'know?

I can't blame you. I'm going to at least try and see what this Cyclops looks like with the hair from the game. I like that version much better. Some characters really don't need hair or a hat or anything, like Red Skull or Lex Luthor, but others would be better with hairpieces or masks like Power Man or Captain America. (Cap's head looks okay to me without anything else, but it certainly could be improved by some kind of mask or helmet, especially if they ever do the Cap from the first movie.) Has anyone heard anything else about that Green Lantern figure that that one website said we'd be getting this year? Maybe something concrete about a second DC wave this year?

Well, we're still not sure about Storm's final hairpiece. She may just get a custom hairpiece after all. I've only got two of that piece in that color, and their always being swapped out between my purist Vandal Savage, purist Amazo, Bruce Wayne, and General Zod, so I'm not too disappointed by getting another one. I do agree, though, they need to come up with a new piece for characters with much shorter hair. Bruce Wayne and Power Man should not have the same haircut ever. I mean the way they're printing fleshtone on a dark blue head, we're likely to get the coloring issue we got with Cap.

I adore that Riddler and Robin! What torso did you use for Riddler? And what legs are those on Robin?

Since the delay news just broke a few days ago about Batman/Superman, I doubt LEGO will be producing anything too mind-blowing. They might have time for new molds if we're lucky, but I wouldn't get your heart set on Cyborg. Martian Manhunter and Green Lantern won't require any new molds by any stretch of the imagination (well, maybe not any). Ventriloquist would be super cool, but I doubt we'll get anyone that obscure just yet. Black Mask is a possibility. I'm hoping we get Clayface this round. He's about as mainstream as Man-Bat, so that seems like it wouldn't be much of a stretch. Firefly would be pretty awesome, too. I don't understand why they'd go with this version over the other. The other Cyclops is just as doable as this one. All he needs is a new torso print, maybe leg printing, the default brown tousled hair, and a new head print. I'm concerned this Cyclops is going to turn out like Captain America. Hm. All they're missing is Aquaman and Cyborg and they'll have the whole New 52 Justice League. Sounds like something DC would do, too.

I bet they know what the new Batsuit looks like, though. They'd have to in order to design the figure. Maybe if we're lucky Lego will be the ones to let the bat out of the bag on this, like with the Chitauri in the Avengers, I have no doubt that that ship is Star Lord's. It's pretty integral to the comics and characters from what I've heard and it's a big, expensive vehicle and we all know how much Lego loves those.

That IS perfect! How'd you get your hands on the Batman vs Penguin set already?
-
When Green Arrow takes on a serial killer who kidnaps young women, dresses them up like dolls, then dumps cement down their throats in a filler episode, yeah, it may be a little too dark. Then again, they did Dark Knight sets and that movie's pretty dark too. His hair in the game is just blue Wolverine hair. Beast will definitely be coming eventually. Do you think that Cyclops would still look alright with the ruffled brown hair? Have you seen anything of the Guardians of the Galaxy sets or are they under heavy wraps? That's actually pretty depressing. I was really looking forward to that but now I'm not going to see it until I graduate. That fact actually depresses me a little more, though.

Not to mention a whole bunch of DC characters in need of the Bigfig treatment. It's so weird that they've only been in the Marvel line so far and haven't even been shown to be in any upcoming DC sets. Bane, Killer Croc, and Solomon Grundy could use bigfigs and they're all Batman villains for the most part. Seems like wasted opportunity. Nah, Thing is totally big enough for a Bigfig. Colossus is debateable, but I'm sure Bigfigs are going to happen more often, most likely with the same characters from the game. Remember, they gave She-Hulk and Power Man Hulk-strength and they're still minifig sized. I'm not sure if he will or not, but I'd prefer him to be a Bigfig (especially if he's comic-based). It seems odd to me that the LEGO game would make a full batch of designs of GOTG characters that probably wouldn't be included if not for the movie but then create entirely new ones for the movie sets. I'm almost certain that after the Justice League movie (rumored to be filming immediately after Batman vs Superman) we'll see a lot more variety in our sets. Given Flash's rogues, I think we're likely to get at least 3 sets focused on him at some point.

Johnny yes, Sue and Reed not so much. Sue's powers require a lot of transparent minifig parts that aren't likely to be made, and Reed could just have replacement parts and the like to give the effect of his powers.

Despite the images, that still seems pretty likely as the biggest set of the three, given it's a very large important vehicle and that LEGO has a vehicle fetish. I imagine they'll do something more along the lines of including some bricks with Mr. Fantastic's face and torso logo printed on them. Same with Plastic Man. Clayface would probably be more of a brown monster than a shape-shifter, like the big rock monsters or a big fig, maybe with a hammer arm.

I'm ignoring Golden Age Robin because I feel that's what we're getting in the Juniors set, the animated Robin would only show up in a Teen Titans set, and personally I consider Red Robin a different character as much as Nightwing or Red Hood. We're really running out of Bat-family members unless they dig really deep. Maybe Batwing, the other 2 Batgirls, Huntress, and Oracle if we're lucky. I doubt we'll get Red Hood. Oh hey, and Bat Cow! Does Fox own Galactus? I guess he could be considered a Fantastic Four villain...? Red Tornado is getting less and less obscure by the day. In the last 2 big deal DC cartoons, Red Tornado plays a big role. Given he wouldn't even need new molds, I wouldn't be horribly surprised if we get him in a few years. I think at least 2 DC sets each wave should go without Batman, and only allow Superman if he's with a new guy. At least do it once to test the waters for less orphaned terror-of-the-night-like characters.

I'm a huge fan of Robin, so as far as I can tell they're just about out of variants unless they delve into lame action figure-y specialty suits. Maybe they'll get desperate enough to do Carrie Kelly, but that would definitely not warrant any complaints. I'm willing to put money on the bet that after we get our solo DC films we'll be seeing more set variety unrelated to the movies. I have a feeling that after we get to Justice League, they'll have another cartoon out to draw inspiration from. I was thinking earlier about a Teen Titans set that would have the team facing off against a Ultrabuild Trigon. I think that might be a little unlikely, but given the massive crossing over they've done with their different gimmicks in Chima, maybe eventually we could get something like that? I think those will resurface if and when Galactus shows up in the Marvel movies, because that lame Sentinel trick just won't work on the Devourer of Worlds. The John Stewart thing is strictly rumor at this point, so I wouldn't count on it. Nightwing will most likely not show up in Justice League, and he isn't even technically confirmed for the Batman/Superman movie (they said Robin, the Internet said Nightwing. Nightwing seems most likely at this point, though) I do agree with you on your point about giving other, non-Batman characters team-up sets, and I would definitely be into seeing JLU style team ups where A-listers like Green Lantern and Flash are paired up with B and C-listers like Supergirl or Booster Gold. Speaking of which, we should've gotten a Booster Gold/Blue Beetle set already, this is unacceptable! I'm really surprised we haven't gotten Superboy yet, either. Heck, Flash could carry his own set fighting a big fig Gorilla Grodd! I don't care if kids know who Flash is or not, if he's fighting a giant gorilla they'll buy it! They need to think that no, not all kids are going to be well-versed in the DC Universe at that age, but they will buy a toy that looks really cool for just the sake of it looking really cool! They've got so many missed opportunities for sets that they just aren't taking.

James Jr.? In that case, yeah, definitely do Barabara! The two of them have such an interesting character dynamic! If you haven't gotten to Death of the Family, you're in for a treat! (I don't keep up with any of the comics, really, I've just been getting trade paperbacks when I can) I don't think the spikes would be quite as effective as the regular cowl. I've just always thought of Cass's costume as being very skin-tight and sleek, and Batman's cowl always seemed too bulky and angry for characters like the Batgirls. Although, I'm sure if someone got rid of the bat ears that'd make a great Red Robin cowl. Oh yeah, that's the best purist Cyborg I've seen yet! I wish they made variations on the hairpiece, but it still looks good! Maybe try a trans-red stud or a silver cylinder? (I'm pretty sure that there's a better name for it, but it's a quarter till 1 in the morning) Have you tried using any of the big robot armor pieces on him, like the collectible minifig Alien Avenger's or Galaxy Patrol's?
-
I think Rogue is more mainstream and easier to do than Colossus. People have been making her purist for awhile now. I never minded the big fig Colossus so much, mostly because it balanced out the Brotherhood's Juggernaut. Although, I do understand why people have a problem with that. As much as I doubt it, I hope you're right. It would be so cool to get a fairly obscure X-Man. The mohawk would've been pretty cool, actually. Especially considering The Wolverine came out last summer, and in the comics it was Yukio who inspired Storm to get the mohawk. Also, I don't have that piece in any color, so that would be pretty neat on a personal level. Well, in the Days of Future Past movie, Kitty Pryde is now apparently Wolverine. Because he has to be the center of every X-Men movie.

The Batman cowl seems really bulky for something skin tight though. I'm really curious to see how yours turned out, think you could post it? I might have buy a loose fig of him from Amazon when they get them, in that case. I've been wanting to use that hair to make Bruce Banner. Thanks!

They made a set like that with the Lex Luthor Mech and it sold pretty well. Of course, they could've made a big Sentinel and included a much smaller vehicle or something and made THAT a whole set. Maybe if what you said about the various sizes is going through LEGO's corporate head we'll get a bigger, more accurate one down the line. If they would've made the build for the Sentinel look better, I don't think I would have much problem with the size, but it's just so bleh. I highly doubt it will be Xavier. If we get him at all (I think we will) he'll be in an X-Mansion set in his floating wheelchair. Cyclops is the most likely, since he's one of the most well-known after Wolverine and Storm. Given what we've gotten so far, soon enough we'll get the X-Mansion with Jean Grey, Gambit, Rogue, Charles, Beast, and Mystique, as well as another Magneto or Wolverine. I'm not saying they did that to cash in on the Killing Joke, but it seems to be a reference for the older fans. I'm expecting us to get Cyborg before we get Martian Manhunter, although Green Lantern has got to be coming in the near future. It's pretty apparent at this point that they're trying to make it as "New 52" as possible, and that means our JL line-up is likely to be Supes, Batsy, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg. I know we'll get Martian Manhunter one of these days though. I think Shadowcat and Nightcrawler won't be coming for quite a while, since neither of them even appeared in the game (and when you have over 150 characters, there's good reason you left out 2 very important X-Men and included Howard the Duck) but I think we may wind up with Psylocke. I think we'll probably just be getting Cyclops, Wolverine, Rogue, Storm, Beast, Gambit, Iceman, Jean Grey, and Professor X for a while, though I hope Archangel, Colossus, and Nightcrawler come soon after. maybe if the x-men movies would actually focus on characters besides Wolverine we'd get to see those characters in other things. Shadowcat got screwed on Days of Future Past and she owns a frickin' dragon where's her movie????

The video game version was a giant minifig with some silver and gold bricks stuck on the front, I don't think anybody expected that to be the official Sentinel. I think the Spider Copter was made before the game, and they stuck that in for free advertising.

I'm sure they wouldn't base a set off of Brave and the Bold, but they should be using it's basic set-up of Batman + A-C List Hero + A-C List Villain. There isn't a Justice League cartoon on, heck, Cartoon Network can't even commit to a Batman cartoon! Beware the Batman has been put on hiatus after one (maybe only half of one) season, and will likely go the way of Young Justice and get cancelled before they get the chance to develop a real fanbase. It's really a shame that they keep cancelling all of these very good cartoons but are putting the awful Teen Titans Go on a pedestal (and we can't even get a Teen Titans set based on it!) They should've kept Green Lantern TAS and Beware the Batman and built up a new Animated Universe that could feed into an eventual Justice League. But no, if it doesn't captivate the hearts of 8-11 year olds in two episodes it has to go. At least keep Beware on long enough for us to get sets based directly on it so we get characters like Metamorpho or Katana. It seems pretty expected that they would do that, since the first set should be going out of print soon (I think?). I'd rather we got the same Magneto than that 70's nightmare. The Sentinel is really disappointing, since it could've made a perfect set on its own. I'm hoping this means we're getting more than just Wolverine, Storm, and Disco Magneto. At least toss in Cyclops!

If you're gonna make Babs, I have 2 suggestions: 1.Get the Joker's Steamroller set and use Batgirl's head from that and 2.Go ahead and just make her Oracle. All you really have to do is put her in a wheelchair, but she's better as Oracle than as just Barbara. Are you planning on making Cassie Cain in the Batgirl suit or just in civies? I've been trying to figure out to make her Batgirl suit, but I'm strating to think the only way to do that is to cut the hair off of the new Batgirl figure's mask, which is decidedly non-purist. It would be super cool to see either one, though. As for Kyle Rayner, I'd try either Nightwing's hair, the basic tousled black hair, or a black buzzcut. The piece you suggested might work well, too, though I haven't managed to find that piece in that color yet.

Apparently it's not that stupid of a move, since Imaginext made a whole playset for Black Manta. Lego should be playing the same game, getting kids interested in characters other than Batman and the occasional Superman. However, in that particular instance, It probably was better that they use Mr. Freeze, as including a lesser known villain, a lame Batman variant that just screams "toy company", and the butt of every superhero joke probably wouldn't have had it flying off the shelves. Hopefully they'll make a stand-alone Aquaman set that includes Black Manta. (I wonder if they'd make his helmet the whole head or make it a helmet with a head underneath?) Oh no, the Joker in the Steamroller set is an obvious reference to the legendary book the Killing Joke. The fact that they included Batgirl specifically in this one almost confirms it, since she had a major role in that story. Look it up if you haven't heard of it, it's really a fantastic read. Well, Black Manta was a major player in the second season of Young Justice, so I'm certain he isn't completely unrecognizable to kids. Even so, he looks really cool, which is plenty of motivation on its own. I remember when I was just a tiny thing buying Spider-Man toys. I'd never seen a Spider-Man cartoon, and this was before the Sam Reimi movies came out, so I was buying these things simply because they looked cool. They also introduced me to Hulk and Wolverine. Now, I'd say a decade or so later, I'm a pretty big fan of Spider-Man, Hulk (rather Bruce Banner) is one of my favorite Avengers, and I just watched the Wolverine about twenty minutes ago. If you make the set fun and not necessarily include just the characters everyone already knows and loves, you can sell the set and get kids interested in the other characters as well. Too many Batman fans, not enough DC Comics fans.
