DC Superheroes 2016 - Rumors and Discussion
Numbuh1Nerd replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
So Gotham City Breakout leaked online, and it's really strange compared to the other movies they've been doing. For one, they go pretty obscure with some of their character choices. Madame Mantis? Some weird little cave people that I can't even Google? And a lot of the builds in this thing aren't even real, like this Bat-drill, another Batcycle, and about a dozen other such things. They gave Bane's mask a mouth hole. There's a whole sequence that's basically just a commercial for Joker's Funland, but it also features Joker's Fun House from the first wave? I honestly don't know what these things are meant to do anymore. Also, could somebody please tell me what those little cave people are called? I keep wanting to call them Trogdors but that's definitely not it? Are they even from the comics??- 8,446 replies

Marvel Superheroes 2016 Rumors And Discussion

Scarlet Spider, Kraven, and Gobby are all major selling points for me, so I'm definitely getting that Bridge when I can. Ghost Rider might come sooner, though. My priorities are basically: 1. Doctor Strange 2. Civil War Spidey 3. Bridge Battle 4. Ghost Rider Granted, pricing will have other thoughts on that order, and that's not even including all of the Civil War stuff I haven't bought, like the Falcon/Black Widow set and the Airport. -

I don't think confusion amongst licensed characters is even close to a concern. It's as easy to confuse Ant-Man and Atom as it is to confuse Hawkeye and Green Arrow. I'd put Atom on the same iconic level as Hawkman, and we have him already. Plus he's easy to produce, since he doesn't need any sort of headgear or other part, just a plain-old printed minifigure.- 8,446 replies

I don't see how that's anything but a reason to make another one? Sure, the movie was a hard R, but that's not gonna spoil the whole character. We're getting an R-rated Wolverine movie, and Apocalypse saw him brutally slaughter a whole bunch of dudes, but that's not gonna stop them from using Wolverine. -

I always like to look at what Imaginext is doing with their DC license, and they've had no problem spreading out from Batman's rogues. They've got practically all of Superman's major rogues, the bigger Justice League baddies, some Flash villains, and that's along with the slew of Arkham inmates. Their lineup of heroes is blowing Lego out of the water, too, with guys like Red Tornado, Red Robin, and even Bd'g, the squirrel Green Lantern that tried to kill himself after his wife left him for his best friend when he "died". They don't mess around over there. Lego has an advantage over Imaginext, and that's that they can sell a set based on the build and not the characters if they have to. Kids like Legos, not just the name on the box. Heck, I didn't care much at all about Star Wars until I got the Lego Naboo Starfighter. Same goes for the likes of Indiana Jones. Lego is a gateway drug for pop culture. Lego could totally give kids new faces without it hurting anything. Not to mention, we are getting a new Justice League cartoon soon, and the first character images show a pretty well-rounded lineup of characters (even one or two that I hadn't heard of) so now more than ever they could get away with some outside-the-box choices.- 8,446 replies

Roy Harper isn't as popular or iconic. If we ever got a Green Arrow set, he would have to be in it, and maybe one based on the classic Teen Titans, but otherwise he doesn't exactly slide into anything. Atom on the other hand is his own man and a major member of the Justice League. I'm positive that we'll see Atom sometime soon.- 8,446 replies

Are there even die-hard Knight Rider fans? I guess we know who's coming last. They must not have designs finalized.

The new Cap is such a relief. We live in a renaissance of superhero costume designs, but that suit is such an exception. Just...bleh. What an easy pass. -

Just remember that Green Arrow was an exclusive once, too! I'm sure we'll see a traditional Atom sooner or later, and maybe even the CW Atom someday. Can't say I'm terribly disappointed, though. There were plenty of worse options. I dunno, I think I would've been moderately okay with the CW's Reverse Flash or Zoom taking the bullet over Atom. Reverse Flash is notable enough to be featured in a set a lot sooner. I'm also a little retroactively annoyed with Reverse Flash now with a presumed three straight seasons of "Evil Flashes" which might have something to do with it lol- 8,446 replies

I'd be willing to argue that it's not just the films but the animated presence. Marvel has at least 4 animated shows going on for Lego's target demographic, while DC only has one that doesn't lend itself to much merchandising. Marvel's also done an excellent job of spreading their appeal across a huge portion of characters, whereas DC still can only reliably place product on Batman's back, with the occasional Superman carrying a set. I think once the new Justice League cartoon airs we'll start to see something closer to balance, but spin-off shows that are more action-oriented would fare much better. -
Okay, so the word is that now that Disney Infinity has closed up shop, Disney will be focusing on using those properties for A-list titles. BUT what about the franchises that can't really sell an A-list title? No Avengers, no Disney, no Star Wars, no Indiana Jones, no. LEGO Dimensions Year 3: TRON Just try and tell me that TT wouldn't leap at that opportunity. Go ahead. Try. Goonies and Beetlejuice are getting sequels, but just eventually. Beetlejuice 2 has gone as far into production as Tim Burton calling up Micheal Keaton and saying "That'd be fun, huh?" Goonies 2 is even less solid than that. Knight Rider could still totally work if they made Kitt as advanced an AI as Jarvis from Iron Man, and maybe made the car a little more hi-tech, too, sorta Speed Racer-y. Hey, there's one, Speed Racer! They could TOTALLY do Speed Racer again! It's not like anybody else is doing anything with it, and it is a Warner Brothers property that's had Lego sets in the past. I know I'd buy it.

I think that would beat out Beetlejuice, Knight Rider, and A-Team for the weirdest, most unexpected get for Lego Dimensions So obscure yet so much fun!

I actually really dig that. Can't bring myself to disfigure (heh) the only LEGO Holtzmann I'll probably ever have, though :/ Conflicting faves, why must you do this to me?? So many really nice details in there! It almost feels more like an Ideas set. Hey, wait, is the Eye of Agamotto silver here?? And what's that lever on the wall for? Really? Why? That hair is so precisely Doctor Strange's hair! I guess some of the promo shots make it look a bit floppier, but it looks a lot more like that, a lot more traditional, in the set photos. -
I don't know if the right hair exists yet (this in white), but for the torso I'd recommend either this or this. As for the legs, definitely black hips, maybe the booted Batman legs depending on your choices for the rest of her. Times like these really make me wish they would use dual-molded arms for long gloves more, because some inverted Superboy arms would be perfect on her. Thanks so much!!

I dunno about that. Richard hasn't been seen in awhile, and Sam's become a lot more prevalent. I'm fairly certain that we'll see another Sam before we see Richard, assuming the MCU doesn't step in with a Nova. Alladin's head doesn't fit right with the helmet, even beyond the white eyes. Is it the same flesh tone for Alladin that they use on Hispanic characters? -
Finally finished my Titans line-up! Not all of these guys are new or too terribly unique or different, so putting them all in the same shot helped justify it a bit more
-
Yeah, no, I don't want any version exclusives happening. The worst part about Lego games is when they do console-exclusive content, because it effectively just screws a third of the audience out of what could be their favorite character(s). I have a Wii U, so I doubt I'd be suffering on that one, but I wouldn't wish that on anybody.

What bugs me is that they made Nova white. It's basically just Richard Rider Nova, honestly. We need a proper Hispanic Sam Alexander fig, preferably with that hella cool black helmet from the comics. -
Catwoman's would probably be best. Magpie was basically just a crazier Catwoman anyway lol

Concerning the Groot debate, I have a bit of evidence here in my favor that might be classified as spoiler-y, but it's from James Gunn's own Twitter, the last storyboard of the movie. I doubt we'll see any sort of resolution for Rocket, but boy oh boy do we need one. I'm gonna say he'd need a whole new mold, maybe something like the Maggie Simpson one in concept, with the same old arms and hands but a brand new sort of torso, except with the head as part of the mold. Even if we don't get a change in size, I'd really like to see them make a new head with more personality to it. The one we have now is just too bland. -

If it is, I'd say it won't be all that dire of one, or at least not THAT exclusive. If the thought of a CW-based set hadn't been bouncing around in their head somewhere, we would've seen Flash or Green Arrow long before a mediocre Arsenal (that head is still so uncomfortably inaccurate), and we've already seen that SDCC figs aren't always terribly exclusive, like with Rocket Racoon or Green Arrow. You won't get the same figure, but there's still a pretty solid chance that you'd get the same character with the same source material. Of course, that's saying its CW-based. If it is, I'm hoping for Supergirl. I want to see what Lego's official representation of her would be, but I don't care enough for the show to actually want the figure. Make it one of her one-off villains like Mystique Indigo and that would be even better.- 8,446 replies

From the look of what we've seen so far, any Groot figure probably isn't going to be full-size. It looks like all the Groot stuff will be a tiny Groot. -
I'm not sure how it would, but I'd be down for a TTG-based Cyborg, just to see how they make him work with Lego's printing and molding capabilities. It would be weird of them to make a whole new helmet mold for a Cyborg variant, but they can't use the one they have because the hair would be inaccurate, among other things.
-
Wait, so if you can change between versions of Cyborg, will you need to have the TTG world unlocked to do that or will you be able to unlock the TTG world through Cyborg? Have we seen the WHOLE box? Like, the sides and everything? The starter pack had all this stuff on the top of the box. If nothing else, I'm sure there'll be an update to the in-game list or some kind of list within the packaging of the boxes themselves.

Yeah, I think it'll get Doctor Strange's single-set treatment. We've got Hulk and space travel and Valkyrie and some Guardians connections, so this is probably one of the most marketable Thor movies.
