  1. Like many other peeps, I bought today: 6865 Captain Americas Avenging Cycle 6866 Wolverines Chopper Showdown 9676 Death Star planet / Tie Interceptor set (50% off! Kroger in the US) 2 large Pick a brick cups for the "Get a large for the small price" deal today I bought yesterday the two Ninjago polybags... 30087 "Zane's Ninjagocart" lol 30085 "Snake Catapaultagogothing" lollol Oh, last month I got the Two Face Chase set and ordered the Funhouse set... or maybe that was February. Funhouse set still on backorder. I hope it doesn't get cancelled...
  2. Well, I guess that means I will wait until the 16th to get my Marvel sets. This Hulk might satisfy my "Need a Hulk" minifig almost as well as the Hulk set...
  3. Whoohoo! I like the image tag, spiffy! How do I change my text tag? I don't see that option in the control panel. I will have to think of something clever. Oh, how I found it you say? I can't give away my secrets; there might be another contest...
  4. Whoa, I think I might actually have won, no fooling. If not... ah well. I see it here on post #1 - http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=42397&st=0&p=747188&hl=bucket&fromsearch=1entry747188 Neat MOC too.
  5. Nice, but it falls victim to scale. Maybe a larger scale could get more detail in the model. Yet, I know the contest typically uses a certain scale. Neat anyway.
  6. I was lucky to get two of these. I can't tell if it's a error or the odd way you worded the price, but as far as I know, these were basically free. Sure you have to put a min of $5 or $10 (I think min of $5 for mine) but as long as you return to a Target and use the value, there is no charge for the use of the card. Thus saying is the "is this set is worth $5" and "(I've seen cheaper sets with more pieces and rarer parts)" makes no sense to me. I would do N/A for your price rating in the future. Obviously, it's an awesome set for free* and it has multiple builds. Plus you get the exclusive to two sets Target circle printed block, semi rare broom, and a variety of useful slopes.
  7. Could be awesome, but who can tell? Your whole recent series of pics is postage stamp sized. One can't see any details or offer constructive criticism.
  8. That would be huge - and awesome. I was thinking the "macaroni" bricks on side would be a decent scale too: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=85080 or the bigger http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=48092
  9. I did not expect to see this as I myself live in downtown Cincinnati. Quite nice and evocative of the real thing, which I've been in several times. I suppose the only thing I can critique (you may have done it though) is the urban carpet curl up the building. I'm not sure I spot it. Did you say you used cheese slopes on their sides? At a larger scale you might have been able to use actual curved bricks and trans-clear panels that would have made enabled more visibility into the interior - but the scale is determined somewhat by the contest. They are forecasting rain tomorrow, by the way. Off topic, I'm jazzed to actually hear from a fellow Greater Cincy AFOL. I don't know any. Maybe we'll PM about local LEGO stuff in the future...
  10. Jinkies! That's pretty groovy. Looks to be a pretty good build even with the difficulties of scale. The lettering is tough to brick create, I suppose a large custom sticker could be a possibility, though. Oh, I suppose if I wanted to be picky, I'd say the bricks the flowers are mounted on are non-lime (if they exist) so that stands out some. Any pictures of the minifig gang?
  11. Bound to be some curved walls in the "Lego Techniques" Flickr group: http://www.flickr.com/groups/788191@N24/
  12. Heard the Toy Story Green Army mini-jeep polybag was being clearanced out at Target, and lo and behold, they rung up at 39 cents a piece. So I got 20 of them. Makes for some nice green parts-pack for a MOC I've working on. Yay for 90% off. I left several for good karma for the next person...
  13. Wow, nicely done and funny! Would love to see more in the future if you are up to it.
  14. Once in a while something comes by that you have no words to express how great it is. I nominate you for the MOC Expert tag, if no one else has yet.
  15. I peeled out the grand sum of three US dollars from my wallet on LEGO today. At a thrift store I found 7148 Hero Factory Meltdown complete w/o box from a retail store salvage for two of those dollars and at a Target I found the last V-Day Friends polybag for that last dollar - Set 30105-1 Mailbox. Lil bargains.
  16. How about a park? Maybe put a statue or a fountain in the center... Or a memorial, perhaps.
  17. Nice! I thought she was blonde, though?
  18. Three pages in and no one has mentioned these?! Really? Guess I gotta do it: Easter eggs you have forgotten about
  19. As stunning as this is, (which it is utterly amazing, I will not deny) what is the purpose of voting for this on Cuusoo anyway? Other than community thumb-ups, I don't understand these massive entries over there. If this was a retail set by LEGO, it would cost something like $800... Anyway, congrats on frontpage and it's a wonderful project you have here.
  20. I display for 6-12 months, then all sets get broken down, light washing (dish soap, soft toothbrush, warm water, water rinse, air dry on towels) then sorted into into my parts system... ... with one exception. I can't bear to sort down my 4504 Mil Falcon meaning that I'd never get to build it again. It'd be difficult to pull the pieces out from my sorting system as it's not the best.
  21. Nice townhouse. The exterior is nicely color blocked and it's a good attempt for such a small footprint. A real challenge. Some critiques for you think about: - You might try a few little exterior details, like ridged bricks, or a cornice, or protruding areas, etc to break up the flatness of the exterior. The grey band detail that you have works for this. - I think your stair placement is not good. You might stick it in the back corners and offset them each floor so you have interior space to have some fun with. Or you might be able to try a 3 wide or L shaped stair. - Speaking of the grey band, I might swap the trans pieces for solid. It looks odd to be able to see through the space, but it's not part of the living area. Maybe if it was at the top of the building, and a little taller, it would be a half height attic/storage/mechanical floor. - If you do end up with a little room, you could try some pulled back brick built curtains. One of the modulars has some of these. Good luck with your next build.
  22. One bonus not mentioned as an advantage to PAB is everything is guaranteed brand new as if straight from a set box. Bricklink sellers can be a little wishy washy about what is called "new" condition.
  23. Well, I took the plunge on most of my wants for the year. While there are tons of sets I want, I believe I'm only going to get some of the Superheroes line this year. So, at my local LEGO store I picked up: 6858 Catwoman Catcycle City Chase 6862 Superman™ vs. Power Armor Lex 6863 Batwing Battle Over Gotham City For the rare colors I also got: 4625 Pink Brick Box One of the last days for the promo I got for free: ? Kendo Jay Booster pack I'll get the Batmobile set when I next go in, if next month, there is a free poster with $35 purchase. I may pick up the Funhouse set if it comes back in stock and I may get the Spiderman, Wolverine and the cheap Ironman set if they turn out all interesting. That's all I'm planning for this year.
  24. Nice finds. I think your MOCS are better than what the photos show. They are too small and low resolution to see much of anything. If you want specific feedback other than "nice finds" then you'll need a better camera.
  25. Got lucky at a 50% day at a local Goodwill thrift store. It's very rare I see LEGO at these stores, but I usually stop my on all the 1/2 days. Lo and behold! I glimpse the LEGO symbol behind something, it's a new Friend's Olivia's Treehouse, busted up box, open and all. Target salvage I guess. It's already open so I dig in to see if it's complete enough to warrant my cash; it is, so I got it for $5. At home it does look complete! It's not a theme for me, but the rare colors are a nice parts pack for my purposes. Also I found the recent police minicopter polybag for a buck.
