  1. Ha! I guess they meant "road safety" in the terms of school crossings and cross-walk safety and all that. Aside from that, it's not a bad set. It has a few nice building details and the bus doesn't look half bad. I do wonder if LEGO would make a "sittable" version of their short legs sometime in the future...
  2. Wait, wait, wait.... how does this exclusive thing work again? Forgive my ignorance. Will it not be available at LEGO stores?
  3. Man, that Clark is perfect! I need to buy one of those...
  4. Cute poly. Although I guess I'll be the first to point out an error for your correction. The lime flippers are in three sets only as the joined together in a sprue version. They are in 15 other sets as separate pieces - http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=2599&in=S So not rare really unless you didn't get into the Atlantis theme at all.
  5. Oh, a new project from LT to watch! I like the ceilings / roofs you've made so far. I'd explore a few options throughout to give you future MOC knowledge.
  6. I believe I asked this in one of the reviews but no one responded, but has anyone modded the rear of the Quinjet in order to fit Cap's bike? I would really like to do this to fit all the Avengers (xcpt big Hulk, of course) and would appreciate any thoughts. EDIT: I haven't built it yet, btw.
  7. Oh yeah... and if anybody makes a Galidor Friends MOC... they will be banned from the site. LOL, kidding, kidding!
  8. Friends sci-fi. There is genius and madness therein. I hope I can come up with something, but we will see!
  9. Weird question (I guess since no one has said) but has anyone emailed LEGO or our Ambassador's program about this? It seems like the only useful thing we can do. Except not buying them.
  10. The last ewok set had one sticking out of the middle of the tree. The big Atlantis set had two (I think) coming out of the top of the temple pediment (I think that is what it is called.) Those two are what came to mind for me. The strangest flickfire missile itself in my opinion (not the location, but the missile itself) was the Ninjago villain base that had skull flickfires manned by skeletons. Think about that for a minute.
  11. I think this is your most ambitious and accurate single building project yet. Well done. The decals really help the accuracy here. The brickwork, the canopy, the equipment and the register area are all nice details as well. I hope you get compensated to your liking, but if not, it sounds like you are having fun. If you are allowed to talk about the commission process, I doubt I'm the only one that would be interested. Good luck! Unrelated, but have you considered sharing on Flickr groups? You would extend your AFOL community presence and I think you are definitely one of EB's most prolific builders.
  12. I can see how they would appeal to kids, what with the big ol squishy tires, cool characters, and what looks to be a slamming into things and something pops off, but it's not something I see AFOLS going for. Not really an issue though. Those stickers on the hit plate at front... wouldn't that be a bad place for stickers to get scratchedup? I spy some leftover Cars license parts...
  13. Hrm... you didn't mention this, but it also says "earn double VIP points for a limited time, when you purchase a collection." Since VIP points are theoretically* 5% off (spend $100 and get a $5 credit on a future purchase) then these are theoretically* 10% off. So... the entire LOTR collection is 352.94** and you get 10% future credit so it's kinda like 317.65 plus tax and shipping*** * assumes you make a future purchase ** weak megablocks American dollars *** free shipping if over $75 Deal or no deal?
  14. Well, since you asked three times I will teach you something. You do know about Bricklink don't you? When you search by sets you can see that when listed by price the cheapest ones are often the sets without figs (it's a common custom these days to strip out the figs and sell those separately for many sellers, for better or worse) and each set usually tells you what is not included. So here you go: http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?pg=1&q=6868&sz=10&searchSort=P And for the topic at hand, I buy whole sets for the figs, but it's because I love LEGO as a construction toy not just an action figure collectible. Yes, I could save money perhaps, but I'm not sure you save that much anyway. Why spend $20 for just Hulk when you can spend $50 and get everything else in the set too?
  15. Anybody modded this so the back part fits Cap's motorcycle? I haven't built my Quinjet yet, but would like to do this, so any thoughts or photos are appreciated.
  16. Like everyone else... Hulk Helicarrier Quinjet S7 minifig - tennis guy (2) Hulk promos They rang it up wrong I suppose and they charged me $5 for a hulk and the other one was free. Oh well, I'll let you slide this time LEGO. (Otherwise, I'd have to take it all back, return, then rebuy.) Promo hulk is awesome. I'll probably sell my extra Superhero dupes on Craigslist.
  17. I don't understand all the disappointment to the purple pants, so I'll just to chime in here. I thought this fig was a obvious nod to Lou Foreigno (sp) tv show Hulk? In that regard, I think it's accurate and well done.
  18. At this point, I'd think you would be out of luck asking. I mean, get in line, everybody wants one. LEGO, being the nice company they are, has been generous to provide instructions and a part list to the mini-LEGO store store opening set online, so you can build your own. I believe the only hard part to acquire would be the 2x2 decorated LEGO tile, but one could make a sticker or use another LEGO decorated brick I guess.
  19. Let me Google that for you.
  20. Neat. On the last you could try a trans-clear helmet and trans-clear visor, dunno if it would look good though.
  21. Well written and I am in the camp that agrees with LEGO and in turn you. Firefly / Serenity (having seen all episodes of the show and the movie) really shouldn't be a LEGO product according to their core values. I can touch on a few aspects why similar to your method. 1. Violence - This license may be a PG13 but it's a pretty hard PG13. Off the cuff, it seems a lot more violent than than the other liscences, and it's more visceral. The others ones are violent, but they don't tend to actually show the act of violence in some cases. Like the Indiana Jones heart ripper guy, you see the leadup and the afterwards, but you don't see the action. Firefly / Serenity shows a lot more violence in the act as I remember. 2. Death - Generally LEGO licenses don't focus on licenses where main characters die, or at least, when they do, they are morally "redeemed" or have some point to it. Well... SPOILER ALERT... main characters die in Serenity. Other than a plot arc, there was no point to their death in terms of morality. 3. Sex - The biggest nail in the coffin. Firefly / Serenity has a main character that is a "licensed companion" in nicer terms. Okay, no, she is a prostitute. Most episodes has her looking for clients. One episode is almost entirely within a brothel. No good. 4. Profanity - Firefly / Serenity doesn't have profanity. Sorta. But the crew frequently curses in a dialect that sounds like Chinese. So, it still promotes frequent profanity. I can debate your side quite a bit more, but that's enough for now. Also, you forgot Pirates of the Caribbean promotes drinking! And features cannibals!
  22. Lols. I too, have had the pleasure of picking this one up recently (at a discount so low, I might go post in the "Lucky LEGO Finds" thread when I get some time) and it is really an under appreciated gem of LEGO Sci-fi. The stickers are amazing (how often do you get to say that?), the build is great, it's wildly evocative of older LEGO themes and other toys in general, the minifigs are unique (though one more soldier could have been useful), it's a great parts pack (the slopes and windows will prove useful in Town MOCS)... I could go on and on...
  23. Hrm.. 2) The ski jump in Holmenkollen in Oslo (Sleepyhead) Entry (Build by Cecilie) - 1 point - 7) Art Deco (Flamenco Dancer) Entry (Build by lisqr) - 1 point - 1) All your monuments are belong to us (Lady Liberty) Entry (Build by CamelBoy68) - 1 point -
  24. Oh let's see... how about: 29) Lady Liberty Entry (Build by Praiter Yed) - 1 pt - 31) Sleepyhead Entry (Build by watersnap) - 1 pt - 30) Alien Entry (Build by Oky) - 1 pt - EDIT: Sorry, I see the offical format now, so I will reorder these.
  25. Too late, my friend. It was on the LEGO Store April calendar and it was only two days.
